I'm really curious because I've never felt the need to buy gems and I probably never will. Its just a game some people take it way too seriously and spend lots of money on it.
I know I'm a th 6 and I'm gonna get a buttload of comments saying, "U dont know what its like ur just a noob scrub its survival of the fittest." but its still only a game and some people have to realize that.
I've bought some gems and don't care what you think of me:cool: If you get deep enough into the game you will learn that either you spend ridiculous amounts of time or you gem. You will stop progressing soon enough:rolleyes: At TH6 you can't really judge what we do:cool:

As a fairly advanced th 10 who hasn't ever bought gems, I can tell you that it's definitely possible to advance in the game without doing so (though I obviously have no plans for getting to the top 200). How much time it will take per day will depend on a lot of things: how much you care about having good walls/keeping all your builders busy, how good you are at raiding, what type of army you use, etc.
Personally, I've been using giant/healer/gob since th 7, which suits me well because it's flexible and only requires me to be on for 10-15 minutes per hour to do a couple raids. That said, my loot per real-time hour would probably make most hardcore farmers break out into fits of giggles, but I get pretty decent loot per hour spent on clash and I've been able to keep all my builders busy consistently. Whether or not you choose to buy gems, you can still have fun and get pretty darn good at the game.
I have probably bought 15 bucks worth of gems.
Man oh man I have to get a better job !! This game is leaving me with empty pockets lol
Pepole that gem make this game free for you learn how these games work before mindlessly judging people. They pay for all the new content that you get for free

Not sure why you need to spend 4000 of gems a day, I've raided normally (i.e. waiting for army, approx. 2hrs) and never had an issue....unless your getting attacked non - stop.Quote:

People pay for fun dude... Gaming is a hobby people spend money on hobbies. No one puts their clash achievements on a resume(except Jorge Yao). We all know this. Gemming builders is a $5 to $10 one time investment. I spend more than that on cigarettes in a week.... I think people passing judgement on gemmers is the same concept as someone driving a crappy car hating on a guy with a Ferrari. Money is meant to be spent, can't take it to the grave, spend it on whatever you want as long as you're not hurting anyone!

I'm sure it has been said already, but, you are on the forum where a lot of the coc addicts talk. It is inevitable that most of these players have purchased gems, myself included. However, I purchased these back in 2012 to get 5 builders. If the rewards were better back then, I would have let it be.

i play for fun and in the future if i quit clash i won't regret the time, money i've spent on it

This "who much money did you spend on gems" needs to stop. Everyone its master of their own money, and they spend it like they want were they wanted and how they wanted, and nobody have nothing to do with it.
I spend a little a month to give me a bit of a push along. . I dont see the harm really.
there are 2 kinds of gemmers on COC i think - there are those who massively boost their TH's and end up with a life of gemming to follow and those who use relatively conservatively (for boosts/builders etc.).
the former seem to attract most of the hatred!

I have chosen Clash of Clans because i intend to play this game till it dies( yep i stick to one game and be good at it), gemming to speed things up will just take out the fun sooner.
As a software developer, I certainly understand that Supercell needs to get paid for the work they have done. And even though from reports they are getting loads of cash, I still want to contribute. I have played their games a lot and enjoy them very much. So I feel that I should pay some amount for a product I use. Also, I am able to pay, so why not.
I'm th9 and I agree w u :D I do not see ANY reason why should I spend money. I'm progressing good so far and I am hopping the game will stay in that way.

Just to speed up production I bought enough gems to buy 4 builders. The fifth one in my opinion isn't really needed at my current lvl 5 TH.
Now with the achievements they got you can get 5 builders for free :( lol
But yea gems are not NEED IT they're just worth to invest on if you don't have the time to play all day lol
spending 20$ gets you a boosted spell factory once a day for 250 days not a bad deal at all

1 - spend money in-game = more free time in real life
2 - spend precious time in-game = less free time in real life

It's a bad idea to spend money on a game. I spent $5 to get a Barbarian King, but I'm not going to spend any more money on Clash Of Clans again. It's just not worth spending money on a game.
Its a waste of money....after all it's just a game
you all say its only a game but you keep wasting your time playing it , just think about the hours you keep farming in-game what you could do in real life ;)

It's kinda funny how people just speak ♥♥♥♥ about champions (especially above 3500) but never have ever been there.
Making you look more dumb in my opinion... What Tyrael said is correct, nearly 90% of the time at top 200 they're seeing only 1 cups victories, with a possible drop of 39 trophies. And if a champion with good cups pop up, consider it dem lucky.
Like anything in life entertainment can be free or cost money. I choose to buy gems when I want because the game provides entertainment for me and I want to move up faster then I can without buying gems.Quote:

Some people I'm sure say that buying and using gems is the easy way. However, I beg to differ. I got laid off last year. I'm contracting now on the road. I work 10 hours a day, seven days a week (many weeks). I rarely see my kids or wife. I live in a darn hotel. All I do is work, eat, sleep, play coc. I believe I've earned every bit of my upgrades that were purchased by gems. So, if someone wants to judge me then by all means have at.
*One more thing; from my experience with dealing with people. More people have bought gems than will admit it because they're embarrassed about it. It takes a real man to stand up and say "Yes I did; so." I bet the op might've even bought gems and now he's posting to see how many others have as well to feel better about it.
