Townhall 8 to Masters?

Now, I don't want this to just be another "Can I do it?" Thread; but realistically, I'm looking for people who have gotten to masters as a townhall 8. Although my defenses and walls are essentially maxed, I know that's pretty much irrelevant because at C1 its almost always 100% for any townhall 8. What I'm wondering, is whether I should hog it (level 4 hogs) or baloonion it with level 5 baloons and level 4 minions. Once I get to C1 I'll obviously just be going for 50%'s, and I'm not very good with hogs since I don't experiment with them much. Any advice would be appreciated! :o

Upper crystals and masters are full of maxed TH10s. Just FYI, as a TH9 I feel it very comfortable raiding TH8, 3 star almost every base with low cost troops.
So, it is definitely doable, just forget about defense, all go for offense, and spend a lot of time online continuously.

I believe most that have done it without TH sniping for hours have used mass drags/rage. I think it'd be too hard to do with balloonion at TH8. I don't know about hogs either, but if you aren't proficient with them, high crystal leagues is no time to experiment :p.

I used barch for 50% until around 2350, then town hall sniped until masters. As for defense, use a farming base. I got sniped on both defenses, so I didn't loose too many trophies.
