High Trophy Count Question for Mod or other high trohpy count players

A lot of our members have been having crazy difficult times attacking when they are above 3700. Like so bad that they 1. want to quit and 2. think the game is totally biased and unbalanced.

Here are their questions...

1. Why when someone reaches 3700, do offers drop off completely? They search for the allotted 6 hours and find nothing more than 1 cup. Yes, they try at different times of the day and night. So they spend 6 hours searching in the clouds and find nothing, but then go on defense and get taken for 20+ cups.
2. How is it possible to only find Master 1 and very low champs in searches
3. Why are some players worth 30+ cups to players that have more cups than them, when we can't find a single raid for more than 2.

There are a lot of people upset about this - which I am sure you know. Most of them spend a ton and I want to take answers back to my clan. Please answer when you can and let us know if this unbalanced aspect for high level players will change or if there are plans to change it in the NEAR future.

Nothing? No one has an idea? I know there are less people the higher up you go, but why can you never find anyone? Literally 6 hour searching equates to maybe 10 trophies, then you lose 20+ on defense. Any insight or ideas would be appreciated. Already had two people quit because of this.

I agree, and I don't know the true answer but my closest guess is to make people gem more. SC turns the game into a task at high trophy counts

You nailed one of the key factors: there are fewer people above 3600 cups. People that are in this high cup territory are all spending extended sessions online keeping them out of the search queue. As soon as one logs off, for force break or other reason, they are instantly attacked. At 3600 cups I never had to wait more than about 10-15 seconds before my base was under attack. Invariably I lost these attacks, but in the rare case that I didn't, it was a near call and I received a shield. In essence, you wind up with a very limited number of players who are only available to be attacked for a few minutes each day.

The problem is only compounded on the final day of the season, many players take two-day shields or spend even more time online searching for attacks. I suspect that SC extended the possible targets available so that you didn't just see clouds for hours on end, but not sure that is any better than seeing 1-2 cup offers the majority of the time.

As a fun fact, less than .02% of daily active Clash players are in the Champion league. So, along with trying to make sure that people play fair, it is a challenge to try to keep high-level gameplay as active as possible. This is a major reason why, for example, we removed the week-long shield from Champion league and have been tightening the personal break limits. With so few top players who are so eager for each and every fight they can get, there often simply aren't enough attackable targets to satisfy the demand. However, it is also only fair to give players time to recover after a defeat, and keeping these needs in balance with the most competitive and dedicated of players is challenging, to say the least.

Another other part of the issue, to be very frank, is simply that the trophy differences in the Champion league have become more extreme than they ever have been before. Remember the days when the global #1 player had "only" 4000 trophies? Now the top 90 players have at least 4000 trophies, and the global maximum is climbing ever-higher, making the Champion league span from 3200 to 4500 trophies. Given the way matchmaking ELO systems should work, matches between players with such wide-ranging score differences should be seldom, at best, but this leaves problems with people at the highest levels finding any matches at all. This issue only compounds itself when players are maximizing online time and shield time to stay out of matchmaking as much as possible, and will only get worse as the Champion league stretches thinner and thinner from end to end.

Unfortunately, there isn't a quick and dirty answer that will actually fundamentally fix this difficulty in high-level matchmaking, though we are well aware of the problem and discuss it fairly frequently. Ultimately, it may not be incessant tweaking of high-level matchmaking that fixes this issue, but instead providing new features and goals to keep top players engaged, rather than the endless grinding for +1 trophy at a time

Yes, I know there are less in champ league, but you would think there would be some way to remedy this. Sure, they widened the matches so now lower cup counts can attack higher with the chance of losing up to 52 (that's the highest I have seen, maybe it goes higher). So... instead of helping the situation, it really just made it worse. Winning 1 to 2 cups per attack and losing double digits on defense is not working for anyone.

I completely understand what they are saying though in that, it is basically just supply and demand with too little supply. Potentially making tiers of champions would help? I am not sure, but I do know that a lot of people are quitting because of it and it is a bummer. :(

It's still 0.02% according to them so prolly really don't care.....
