There is no problem. You're doing what supercell wants you to do
There is no problem for gemming. It is just another way to play this game, and it is completely fine. Some ppl may not like the fact that money can get your stuff upgraded quick, whereas they had to farm it, but it is still fine by me.
The reasoning behind this is that if someone has a high level TH, then they mustve gemmed it because "there's no way you can get the money to upgrade"
If you did gem, thats fine. If you didnt, thats cool too. I would stay off of global chat btw
I too do not understand why people use the term "gemmer" in a negative way. Gemmers help support the game and help support the development of the next great game to come from SuperCell.
FYI- Be careful when gemming Town Hall. Go to high to fast and you will find your available loot from raids goes down.
I don't use "gemmer" in a negative connotation. I simply use it to differentiate a player between one that did not spend any money on gems to reach their current game status vs. someone who spent money on gems to get there quicker. It's just a differentiation, not bad or good, only different.
In terms of gemmers, there are mild gemmers who only spend gems to get 4 or 5 builders right away, then there are heavy gemmers who spend money to buy gems to get all builders, boost barracks, boost upgrades, buy DE for heroes, etc etc. And there's also everything inbetween the two extremes.
Gemming is generally not recommended unless you understand the consequences of what gemming can lead to, which in most cases is a high TH level, with under-developed defenses and offenses. A lot of people starting out get hooked on the game and have no knowledge of loot penalties and the problems that arise from going stragiht to TH10 just to unlock all walls and buildings, not knowing the problems they'll have raiding with level 2 and 3 troops at TH10.
Then once they hit TH10 and click next a bunch of times, only to realize they aren't getting matches with more than 50k gold ever (since they're are at lower trophies and seeing th5, 6, 7s) and they often quit at this point, or come on the forums to rant that Supercell tricked them.
As long as you know what you are getting yourself into, gemming is perfectly fine. And it's true, the only reason this game is free is thanks to gemmers.
With out gemmer there will be no to support SC, thanks to the gemmer because CoC is free.
I would much rather pay £5 for the game and have no in game purchases. This way it would be a fair battle to the top 200. Also, ive been playing this game for a year, where as some people have played for a few months and have made more progress via gems.
There is a difference, gemmers are generally not as good at game play and are less likely to continue playing the game long term
Gemming is what pays for the game. If you gem thats fine but it does get kinda annoying when you have spent countless hours upgrading things and someone does them all in 5 min, but for me there is no reward in gemming. If I gemmed my base I feel no connection to my base  . Its all more rewarding to farm it but its your call.
Are we talking about gemming or premature th? Coz some the post i read here assume gemmer = premature th player
I'm not entirely sure on the concept that gemming is bad, in any case. I have spent quite a bit of money on the game thus far, and it's because I enjoy it that I do so. I'm still working on maxing my TH7. Plus, not to mention it's my money which I work hard for, so why not spend it on something that entertains me? I think that if you use it wisely, there's no reason for others to belittle your choice to do so. If you're doing it just to rush your Town Hall, and you're still very premature in other aspects of your base, well.. You just need to be taught how to use gems properly. -Shrugs- Your money, use it how you'd like!
I have to disagree. Yes, for most games it is better to have paid some money and have it all than having a game that tries to nickel-and-dime you to death, but in this case I make an exception.
In my experience and opinion, one of the best parts of Clash of Clans is being able to enjoy it with my IRL friends. The number of people I know who play this game would be substantially less if they had to pay for it - vastly cutting out the fun.
there's a difference between spending money to upgrade ur base and farming it....so there is a difference..i don't bash gemmers..i just don't understand them...spending 20-30 bucks..maybe up to 50 is pretty understandable ..but why go as high as spending hundreds to thousands of money on a tablet game?in the future when ur not playing anymore u might just look back and regret it.loads of people farm for their base so they might get a bit ♥♥♥♥♥♥ if Someone is better Becuz they gemmed it. Thats all i have to say :)
I used to be in the same clan as Sir, and I would say first that nothing is wrong with gemming at all. It's your base, you do what you want with it.
I also want to point out that if anyone looks at his base, you will see that it's actually pretty solid!!
Every day I come across th 9 and 10 that are so preemie that a th 7 could take them. This is by far not the case with his base. Furthermore, he's active, farms, and upgrades all the time.
Now this, in my view, is what should happen if people gem their town hall. You gem to the town hall YOU want, then you work your butt off to make it stronger, enjoying your new toys the whole way.
In short, you enjoy a game that you paid money for. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
Carry on, Sir, and I miss chatting with ya!
They probably call you stupid for the way you did it, or how you chose to upgrade. If you upgraded nothing but your TH, then ya you are stupid. Don't assume they are calling you stupid for gemming... You are just trying to make them out to be the bad guy for calling out your poor decisions, then you come to the boards to get people to pat you on the back and say "it's ok little guy! you play how you want to play!"
unfortunately "how you want to play" also includes playing in a stupid way.
This post is overflowing with idiocy. I agree with OP. Gem use is a polarized topic for some reason, and it often brings out the stupid in folks. I buy gems with some regularity and my base is fine. Oh, by the way look at the top clans and check a random sample of gold grabs. Most are going to be quite inconsistent with "playing gem free". Not saying its right or wrong, just know gems are a big part of the game and quit whining about it already.
Those that did grow their base without gem use, props to you mate!
If you gem your base really quickly you miss out on the training you get from honing your skills to get (and protect) the loot to upgrade. So tactics is a little harder to pick up, both for defense and offense. Also you shorten the time you spend building up your base and reach the point where all you are doing is going for trophies faster. I love the base building and tweeking, once I'm fully leveled I'll be sad :(
There really is no difference. A maxed base is a maxed base (whether you farmed or gemmed it), the only difference being time really. It doesn't require tactics nor skill to Barch spam your way to a maxed base nor does it require skill to spend money.
Most people that do end up gemming exorbitant amounts usually do it at a later TH anyway in order to max out (lvl 40 hereos, etc) so they are already accustomed to the game so the whole "experience" argument kind of goes out the window too.
Money is relative. Hundreds or thousands to you might be perfectly reasonable for someone else paying for something they enjoy. Also, if they live, eat and breath coc it would be pretty standard. People tend to spend money on the things they like and Supercell has a brilliant system for getting people to want to spend their money.
I don't gem very often, but I do gem time every once in awhile as I just sometimes get tired of waiting. I've spent upwards of $50+ a pop at times but the way I look at it is I'm typically going to spend $50 or more a month anyway on a new game/games. Whether it goes into Supercell's pocket or I buy the new game is irrelevant because I would probably spend the $50 anyway, and for the meantime I enjoy playing CoC.
On the other side of this topic, yeah gemming up to TH10 neglecting everything else is a pretty terrible idea. Massive loot penalty and you will only be able to raid TH9/10's for any decent loot really and if you are premature it will be difficult (both attacking and keeping your resources). At that point the game is pretty much over, unless you're willing to spend hundreds (possibly thousands)...or you are going to be stuck farming very small amounts for a very long time while being constantly destroyed by other players.
i love coc a lot but i feel bad for those that eat live and breath COC..😂😂😂 true if u love it then u wudnt care all that much but Idk of coc will last ur entire life..for those who spend 1k+ on coc might in the future wish that they had that money back..but hey if u can aforrd it thats cool :cool:. A lot of gemmers ive seen have quit coc ...and that means it was pointless spending all that money for u just to quit
there is nothing wrong with being as gemmer.
When people use the term in a derogatory manner it is because of the TYPE of gemming the person is doing.
For instance someone in my clan found a base to attack:
- TH10
- lvl 11 storage.
- walls a mix of lvl 1,2,3,4. NOTHING above 4.
- AT/WT/Cannon average lvl 2
- Mortars lvl 3
- BK and AQ lvl 2? I think.
- lvl 1 mines, drills and DE drills.
While we all thank players like this for the contributions to SC staff payroll, this specific gemmer just went about it alllll wrong.
If you want to gem, use it wisely to get yourself upgraded at a fast steady pace. Dont gem your way to TH10 and then try to catch up.
Biggest question I have with gemming a maxed base is why jump to the end? If you have amexed base what else is there to do in the game? Achievements? Reaching to champion which most people agree is no fun.
I spend 20-25 bucks here and there. And it's mostly to speed up current upgrades and work on the next one. To me, if I'm not spending it on this game, I'm wasting it elsewhere. With that said, I'm not going to buy gems to max my storage's, considering that I can max out my storage's in a day and a half worth of farming.
