well it depends on the base really for most of them, but really, almost any army can get a 1-star. barch, bam, all pekkas, gowipe, balloonion, etc. there are tons
i have multiple good armies for th 8 but what leauge r u in?

I am a BIG fan of using BAM. It's a great army to use when you're upgrading barracks too. 80 barbs, 80 archers, 20 minions. Look for bases you can use 2 lines of troops down the side of. 1/2 your barbs first, then about 1/3 of the archers behind them. Rest of the barbs, then another 1/3 of the archers. Wait for the interior to be available air defense(s) down. Send in the minions and the remaining archers.
The trick to loot is looking for the right kind of available loot. If it's not in the mines/collectors, don't do it.
when i was town hall 8, there were a couple of raids that really stood out and i never really lost attacks. the thing about my attacks was that i didnt take into consideration the cost of the troops. i would easily clear 150k elixer with the spells and troops together. the best advice/strategy i can give you is the normal and standard raid most people would use. im assuming you have a 200 troop space so ill crunch the numbers for you.Quote:

60 archers = 60 (when the giants are in and going to work, set these around the outside because giants will take most heat, plus they can take care of barb king EASY and CC troops
2 healers = 28 (again, can be substituted with more giants, whatever you prefer. if you are using healers, make sure that the first defenses you need your giants to focus on is air defense. they can rip through healers. if you take these healers out, seriously consider more wallbreakers.
26 goblins = 26 (once the giants destroy the splash defenses (near resource storage's) send these guys in to clean up the mess, and destroy more units for the 50% star.

total cost of the raid above varies for the level of the troops, but im estimating (based on my costs at MAXED th9) 16000+12000+28000+37500+2600= 96100 elixer.
depending on your league loot bonus, you will probably need to loot 80k-90k elixer to stay even. if you want, toss a few spells in there, just raises the cost. hope this helps! send me a message regarding how it helped or how it worked for you :)
