When to upgrade to TH9

I'm currently lv 55, th8, 1650 trophies. I probably got th8 too soon. I have 3 builders, and I won't buy gems. My current levels are:

Walls 6 - 7
Cannon 7 - 8
Archer Tower 6 - 7
Mortar 4
Wizard Tower 2 - 3
Tesla 1 - 3
Castle 3

Camps 5 - 6
Barracks 7 - 9

Archers & Giants 5
Barbs, Gobs, WBs 4
Have DE drill and storage but not enough for BK yet

2 of each storage lvl 10 -11
Collectors/mines 7 - 9

I leave my TH outside my walls because I'm usually either attacking repeadedly, or want a shield. I almost never lose more than 1k of each. I'm still able to farm productively at 1600, but it's getting harder to find a base I can beat with good loot... I'm guessing I'd be better off around 1300, but I find myelf waiting for builders more than needing resources... except elixir for troop upgrades, and DE.

My builders are always busy. I try to keep one on defensive upgrades, one on collector/storage upgrades, and one on camp/barracks upgrades. The problem with that is it's more than 60 days just to upgrade defenses 1 level each, let alone max level. It seemed like a good strategy to only have one defensive building under construction at any given time, but now I'm realizing that will take forever.

Should I just keep all builders on defenses until max - and neglect everything else? Is there anything else I should really max before th9 - I assume some lab upgrades are probably important? The spell factory seems like low priority if I'm still farming?

Stay on Th8 for while dude yours stuff is under lvl for Th8, be patience and max everything before you go to Th9 , understand about loots penalty!

In all honesty, you aren't even close yet. Everything needs to pretty much be maxxed before you upgrade to TH 9.

Also max camps and research asap. Prioritize this above all else.

I hate to say this, but some of my stuff is higher levelled than yours and I'm TH7 with level 42.

I'm not convinced it makes sense to max everything at the Lab: I've never used baloons for attacking, it seems like a waste to level them. Wizards and healers don't seem that important either. From what I gather, most people use archers, barbs, gobs, wb, and maybe giants for farming. Serious trophy hunters use dragons and pekkas??? Is there any reason to level wizards and healers? How important is it to level spells? Is the spell factory even important?

At th7, even with my th on the outside, attackers regularly took A LOT of loot from me, but the th8 extra defenses and walls have made a HUGE difference in what I lose (attackers just take 8 trophies and 1k loot). So while I know it wasn't the best decision, I don't think it was a bad idea to go up too soon. That said, th9 doesn't seem to offer that much more compared to th8 vs th7... which is why I made this thread.

Your mortars and wizard tower are low lvl max them one word max every thing defense building !max camps, max barracks( to unlock Pekkas) work on your wall better lvl 8 walls, and later when you go to th9 you are not busy then! At th9you need amount of gold to upgrade!!!

lvl 5 wizard rip through buildings like butter. Put a few behind a giant and you've got a strong army. I only do this when I log off before sleep. I build pekkas and wizards so when I wake up I can revenge someone for everything they have.

You don't have to upgrade troops you don't use, of course. Archers, barbs, goblins, giants and wallbreakers should all be level 5. And I suggest levelling healers as well (at least if you either lile to vary your army for fun, or like to revenge an attacker now and then. Healer + giants can be a very powerful and almost unstoppable combo, on TH 8s and lower at least). Plus, it's nice to know how to use them, and how to design your base to stop them. Don't forget to level your spells, especially lightning imo, rage helps as well.

Max mortars and wiz towers for sure. And at least almost all other defensive structures, if a cannon happen to be level 9 when you press upgrade then so be it.

Walls should be level 7 in my opinion. Level 8 don't hurt, but it's not super-important.

Max camps definately are though.

Take a look at THIS THREAD, it has a lot of good points on when you should upgrade to TH9.

After I upgraded my troops, that I use, to level 5, I upgraded the troops and spells I don't use. It does not cost you a builder and when your an active raider you have enough elixir. And seeing labs doing nothing is hurting my eyes. You will start using spells, so it is nice that they are level 5 by then.

I advice you to lower your trophie level a bit though, I htink 1300-1400 is a great range to farm at TH8.

And mortar to level 5 is the most important defense upgrade you have to do now. I love to watch replays where 40 level 5 archers are gone in 1 hit from a mortar. That only happens with level 5+

Some friends I've been playing with had been trying to raise trophy levels and encouraging me to do the same. If that were my goal, I'd be better off upgrading my th and moving it inside the walls. However, I felt that I need to keep my trophies low enough to farm productively, and should probably get some important farming done first.

I dropped to 1500 and have been getting good loot, AND it's an easy level to maintain... but I'll keep the focus on productive farming and forget about trophy levels until I get evderything upgraded appropriately.

Don't raise your trophies if you want to farm.
and DON't upgrade your th

Dont upgrade your TH until everything else is maxed or nearly maxed, get as much done whilst your at a low TH.

I am currently TH8 with everything maxed except 1 tesla and air defence; but i am waiting until majority of my walls are done before i upgrade to TH9.
