Valkyrie: An underrated troop

Hello clash of clans forum, I never post here but I lurk often and have been playing since before witches albeit with ample time off from time to time. I'm a nearly maxed th8 (everything cept teslas and a few archer towers) and I've noticed that valks are almost never used. This concerns me because Valkyries are a very effective troop when used correctly in my opinion.

I hover around crystal 1 to farm to get that moderate league bonus and being able to find ample collector raids or have the ability to reach the core using barcher still with relative ease. Not once in my 8 months are so of playing have I seen a single valk used against me, and that is no hyperbole. People treat valks as a weaker pekka, which is why they're never used. However people forgot they're special ability, splash damage! Therefore, I always carry one valk and two hog riders to coincide with my barchers in every raid. The hog riders are used to lure CC and heroes when heavily centralized. Once lured, valks see the CC troops as easy pickings. Instead of wasting about 20-30 troops that can be used in the actual raid on the base, you just need a couple of barbs to distract the CC or hero, and then your valk goes to work! A pack of archers gets destroyed in one blow against the valk. And unlike wizards, the valk can withstand a relatively high number of hits, therefore you save about 10-20 troops that may prove essential to reaching that core storage or getting that 50% if one is pushing.

People don't like valks because of the training times, but if one is using barcher only one valk is needed and no extra time is added. I always ask for two valk a wizard and the rest barbs in my CC and watch them mow down archers like it's gardener day!

Great opening post, and I agree they are somewhat underrated. I got mine up to lv 3 and have started to use them a bit. They are actually good troops.

The only part that really sucks is the 15 minutes cooking time. Making Minions/Hogs to support Barch is just so much faster.

I agree that the 15 minute train time is the main deterrent for people, but I find the training time moot for compositions that are mostly elixir based. Besides the way I described only needs one valk therefore you can use the other dark barrack for the minion or hog support

Do you mean gold 1? I find it very hard to beleive you have no trouble getting to the core in C1 with L5 barbs and archers.

If I can get my CC filled with 2 valkyries, a wizard and several archers/barbarians, I'll get them valkyries into action more often too.

However, that's one of the problem, who would want to donate valkyries ? Not only they're expensive, but also took long to train and require high spaces. Which clan donates valkyries regularly ?

They're also very ugly. Valks should be gracious and fearsome. Now they look like Cavewoman on steroids and a back problem.

People don't use valkyries because of their high cost and also because they have a retarted AI. Why use such an expensive dark elixir troop, when you got good ol' archers and barbs huh?

I know a few player that use valks for farming only problem training time otherwise they are good cc troops and maybe even tank units with their recent upgrade in a recent update

I played around with comps using her at the end of Th8, Th9, and when my spell factory was down as a Th10 (I rely heavily on spells when I balloon raid, even if its just one spell)

They are good at two things

1) Taking out CC troops and Heros
2) Taking out tightly packed cores

The splash damage of a Valkyrie is very useful for those two purposes. When CC troops come out and you have a few Valkyries along, its not problem. In fact if you have 6 valkyries, then its a welcomed problem because if they rush forward they damage as many as 4 buildings at once while attacking said troops. Also if your the rare player that brings 6+ Valkyries you can clear a path to the core and send in the pack of ladies. In the tightly packed core, their splash damage can do some serious damage (as they often attack more than one building at a time)



I basically ran a giant/healer (& wizard) and giant/wizard comp with 6 of these ladies along and it was on par for training time and power to a balloon raid (3 stared some of the same strength bases anyway).


The biggest thing standing in the way of these ladies is training time and frankly they are overpriced. If these two things were adjusted they'd get plenty more use.
