level 9 walls are not a must have in champ. Everyone up there has lvl6 wallbreakers anyways so it takes the same amount of wallbreakers to break a lvl9 wall as it would to break a lvl 8 (or 7) wall.

Yeah,i think they're worth to get,it looks cooler and stronger thn v8 one tho :D
My plan is to do the core while my last few teslas are upgrading
This is a common yet shortsighted argument.
Not all walls are broken with wall breakers. If they were, I would agree with you. But, interior walls are often broken by troops. Some attackers rely on troops to break all walls. Having troops bang on level 9 walls for an extra 1000 hit points takes a while and gives defenses more time to attack troops. This also slows down troops trying to get through the walls to storages.
Level 8 walls are fine. Perhaps if you goto champ, get your core to level 9.
in the end it doe not matter : best players in the world get their lava walls smashed ... And at lower level hogs/balloons/minions/drags.. Don't care what the color of your walls are.
Only noops get intimidated by the color of your walls... Most skilled attackers look at your defenses and layout.
Anyway: if you are crazy about farming ... I suggest you farm DE and get your hero's up!
Only do walls if all your builders are busy and you need to dump some gold. That strategy works fine for me!
No, it's a waste of time, go to TH10;)
As a level 104 fully maxed Town Hall 9 responding to this post, I have researched the options for upgrading walls, and in the end, the costs outweigh the benefits for most people, and here's why. Upgrading to fully max everything (walls, heros, etc.) becomes harder and harder towards higher town halls, and to some extent, becomes ineffective, if not completed in a short amount of time. This is where the divide between players begins. Players who are hardcore farmers that have alot of time on their hands usually find maxing out level 9/10 walls most effective to do, and with cost benefit analysis, it is. Now, for the other type of player, they usually play substantially less than the previous player described, and have alot less time to do raids each day. For this type of player, finishing up level 8 walls, and possibly getting an inner core of level 9 walls is most effective for their time. Upgrading walls with alot more limited time schedule can take months, possibly up to a year, which is why it is more effective for alot of people to just upgrade the town hall, and finish off skull walls. In the big scheme of things, the pattern for the second player described becomes more and more relevant to further stages of the game. First of all, (this includes all types of players) many find high wall level farming (9-11) very boring, and want more enjoyment in the game. Second of all, farming these high level walls takes ALOT of time, and even with these supreme walls, you can still lose just as badly on defense as you did with your previous level 8 walls. As you all know, throughout Crystals and Masters League (even some in Champs), hog and balloon minion raids have become more and more popular, and they defeat the entire purpose of wasting all the time grinding out walls. In the time it would take you to get all level 9/10 walls, you could've already had town hall ten, two infernos, one more xbow, more walls, more buildings, better troops, and a higher enjoyment of the game. The notion that you "need to MAX you base for every town hall" becomes more and more foreign the more developed you get in the game. So, this is what I would ultimately recommend. Regardless whether or not you're a player described in both situations above, stick to the "wall level below the town hall" guideline. So, try to have all level 8 walls by the end of town hall 9, and all level 9 walls by the end of town hall ten. If it comes to a point where the wall level is insanely expensive (which I presume will happen, just a function of time), stop at whatever wall level you please to be. This way, you can maintain more interest in the game not having to gain a ton of resources for just one small wall, and improve your overall defense and offense performance with higher upgrades. Once again, the notion of "maxing out EVERYTHING" on a town hall is only valid and effective up to town hall 8, beyond that, it is not. Stick with the upgrading schedule I stated before, and I assure you you'll succeed most vividly in the game! :)
One more note: If you come to a point in the game where you have fully maxed out all of your defenses and troops, then you should most definitely stick to grinding walls. But for most people, it'll be a while until they get to the "fully max" state, so be sure to follow the wall upgrade schedule I gave earlier up until that point of time.
As a level 110 TH9 that is probably as fully maxed as you, I disagree.
Why? When you get to to TH10, and you build up your defenses, you aren't going to be facing many Hog Rider attacks. In fact, the most effective attacks are going to be GOWIWI and GOWIPE. These attacks are fended off much better with higher level walls...and I don't mean Skulls. But, because you are a TH10, getting gold is going to be harder. You can't pick on TH8 villages anymore and get anywhere near the same gold because of the loot penalty. So building up walls is going to be quite a bit harder than if you had stayed at TH9.
So please, go right ahead and upgrade to TH10 with mediocre walls. It will make a raiders job that much easier when they attack.
I just started working on L9 walls inTH 9. Its going to be a long march but worth it in the end. Plus the little torches in the corners are cool!
