Roro's Guide to Testing Your Base

I like to browse these forums and see all the neat designs people have come up with. But the question is always how does it hold up? How does it REALLY hold up? A lot of players post results like nobody getting in their storages for X amount of days. But really this could be for a lot of reasons ie, lower trophy range, no resources in storages, your base is confusing, the stars aligning.

After maxing all my buildings at TH7 lately I have put together a surefire way to test your base - and quickly! :P

Note: I should point out again that this is a guide to getting your base layout tested by higher quality players in a more efficient manner. This guide doesn't take into account preferences for gold, elixir or DE.

- Max your gold and elixir storages.
DUH that's what gets people salivating to figure out how to crack your base or at least try.

- Put your TH inside your base or within range of a few guns on the perimeter
You don't want those pesky freeloaders giving you free shield all the time meaning less exposure to players looking to revenge you!

- Shields are for sissies!
Cancel those shields you get, since that just means more time your base is off the market!

- Leave 5000 - 8000 dark elixir in your DE storage.
You want to leave enough to tempt people to attack you for it, but not so much that people will just drop a bunch of lightnings and walk away. DE raiding is calculated at 5% of available I believe and over 400 DE available you're more likely to get lightning spammed in my experience.

- Hunt for dark elixir like a mad man!
As of this post my BK is level 4 completely through farming. Really this is the only requirement to putting your base through the forge haha. Players are much more likely to revenge you to get back dark elixir than gold or regular elixir often committing all their troops and spells. Plus larger amounts of dark elixir are usually found on more active players' bases and better troops. Finally revenging players typically have more time to plan and think about how they want to crush you.

- OPTIONAL: Leave some resources in your collectors since that will boost the available loot significantly making it more likely you will get attacked.

I've included my base that I feel has served me well through TH7 with the largest win streak being 26 victories when my TH was inside my base. It's not a perfect base, but pretty darn good at keeping the resources you need intact. I did have my TH and gold storages outside since I wanted to protect my DE from constant lightning while I was farming it and I was more focused on elixir for rax.

Giant/ Healer combo bottom left side, takes only 6 wb/s to your inner core. I would consider making a 3 wall spike so I need at least 8 wb's (like you have on all other sides). I would reduce all outside spikes to only one and enforce north/ south with each 3 to create a double layer wall.

Heya thanks for the analysis. I've had a few giant healer combos hit this base but fail. Unless you take out all the buildings around it at least halfway first, they don't get resources due to AI funneling. It does look pretty easy to break into the middle but usually by the time people do they don't have much left to take anything. When I go to TH8 i'll try to section more but this has done well at TH7.

I'm not a mad fan about DE .... but that's a personal preference.

Good guide, thanks. Thou, I'm not bothered with the DE, just having some of them, like only 500.

Giants obviously would go for the cannon and then try through your wall, 15 giants + 2 healer backup should handle 1 mortar and cannon/ tesla/ archer tower which should leave enough time to place your wb's accordingly and break through the middle at which point the healer would be shot down by your air defense and things would get really messy.

I put my TH now inside my base (TH8) just to see how people attack. It seems to be an advantage to have some def buildings upgrading because you can almost be sure that people will attack from the side with one less def building and place your traps accordingly.

Hehe I only really started hunting DE since I didn't need gold for my remaining upgrades. The main reason I say to hunt for DE is that 1.) right now with DE more scarce players seem more upset when they lose it and are more likely to hit you back for it and 2.) the types of players with nice amounts of DE to loot tend to be more active. This is a guide to get your base tested after all and these suggestions are only if that's your goal. :D

Why don't you put your gold storages into the inner wall and exchange the place of the wizard towers. Won't the current formation be a little vulnerable if somebody breached your walls? Do you have a way to improve your base or am I wrong?

The reason it can be hard for wb to get inner sometimes is there's a lot of overlapping aoe and point defense on each side. From the SW there is three mortars and a wt covering so splash damage get some. I've had 20 wb split in groups not get through. But I guess if you can time it right then yea. Pretty quickly giants split in two and start funneling around to kill more towers.

Too many def structures being upgraded means you're not really testing your base to its potential but yea it can lure attackers.

I put gold outside since I haven't needed it for a while with walls done. If I actually wanted to protect that yea I'd swap for the elixir. The WT need to be in close proximity to the storage I wanna protect precisely if sometimes people break into the core. The dual aoe smacks down gobs quick.
Based on the frequent higher level attacks on my base I think the position of the buildings are ideal for this particular layout. A different layout who knows. :P

Now I know why you do that. But when you need gold
what will you do? If you put the storages together, light ing spells will be deadly. So, is there a suitable base to protect gold, elixir and dark elixir storages?

I don't think this is a good way to test your base. I personally would be only attacking for gold. Your trophy count is in farming range and therefore most attackers will not care if they get the win (star).

Althought I do feel if you raised your trophy count to 1500-1600 then your strategy may become effective.

As far as your base goes, I really prefer segmented cores. Having said that, at TH7 you have fewer tiles to play with. I still think I'd plunder tiles from your spikes to at least segment the core once.

As far as the guide, I personally think it's best to leave the TH outside. Not sure if you're suggesting that or not. (edit: I think I see that you're suggesting leaving it inside so you don't get shielded and your base gets attacked more? Most farmers drop shields pretty quickly anyway. I kind of like getting the shields personally. Besides, a base with a town hall inside is a pretty different base than a base without one. Might defeat the purpose really since the design would be so different.) I also don't value DE as much to the point of prioritizing it as a farming target, but I certainly don't ignore it.

Busy at work or I'd write more. I only noticed your post in the other thread now.

Thanks for the advice. I think I will segment my resources more when I get more walls at TH8 (6 days!). Even just a crate raiders get at most 3 out of 5 of my storages.

Your right about the TH inside altering the purpose of the base. That's why I also recommend just pushing it up along side some guns so it's not 'totally' free :) The goal of chasing DE is not so much that you need it (although it's nice upping my BK), it's to promote stronger players to attack you hahaha (thus the guide ^^).
