Is it worth upgrading Barbarian King past level 5 ?

Keep upgrading him. If you want to use him often, don't let him take much damage. Try to incorporate barbarians into your strategy, send a few barbs in, then your BK. Turn on the iron fist and they cause mass destruction!;)

And because there are lots of barbarians surrounding him, the defences are less likely to shoot him, they'll shoot at the surrounding barbs instead.

Yes, i do that. But once the barbs are dead i have to let bk wreck havoc so i can get those final buildings for 50%

yes mine just hit lvl10 get him as high as possible as soon as possible can change the outcome of a battle
