really supercell really???

Problem is SuperCell got this idea that "random is fun". Not sure how and where they got this (mis)notion, but this seems to drive items like they "missery net" (which they, and this is a direct quite, "promised not would disappoint us" (best joke ever)) and of course the missery boxes where we can "buy" the items like BRT or Windmill only to always end up with ugly items like garden gnome or giant caterpillar that no-one really want.

What one must wonder is how they came up with the notion that paying gift tickets - or even worse, precious diamonds, and not only 1 or 2, but no less than 5 - for something that will then only give you unwanted items like two fish and a wood panel (woohoo), or perhaps a couple of building items if you're really lucky, would actually make the game more fun.

You can't say no one wants the gnomes or caterpillars because some do. I like the gnomes, and I like my caterpillar. The gift tickets are free and they are in addition to the XP, coins and boat points you get for helping people. Most people enjoy helping people and I don't think they do it for the lousy gift cards. You don't buy these items, you exchange gift cards for them. Gift cards that have no real value. So if you exchange something of no real value for something else with no real value you still break even. But sometimes, you get lucky and get something that you do value. If there is nothing on the wheel that you like, don't spin it. If there is nothing in the mystery boxes you like, don't exchange your tickets for them. Let them pile up outside your mail box if you want. And Random is fun. It must be or there would be no gamblers at the casinos. The chance of winning there is even lower. There is no bankrupt or lose your turn on our wheel like there is on the TV one, so you will get something each and every time. No one guaranteed you would always like what you get or that you would always win. That ended in kindergarten.

Hi. I feel your pain. It feels good to talk about it! On the off topic section of the forum, there is a thread where players share their attempts and disappointment with regard to acquiring premium prize items, mostly via the thank you cards, but I have seen the pearl mentioned as well. The thread is called the BRT Quest. You will find sympathetic ears and lots of company.

I think the point here is...if you spend umpteen hundreds in/of diamonds in an attempt at anything within the game...in all fairness, your odds should increase as your spend increases. Rewards for efforts...? Seems pretty fair to me?

Sure...gambling is gambling is gambling...but this is a game...not The Casino Royale.

And without getting into heavy stats, variables, odds and the rest of it...is it really so wrong to occasionally reward those who try, try, try?

Yes, its the same old complaint...that SC's "randomness" (ie gold v green vouchers)...isn't necessarily fair (or random?)

Personally, I think if you do 2 cream boats and 3 sugar boats in a row and get measly green vouchers for all...then at least throw us a bone and give us a blue voucher for the jam boat thats surely on its way! How else to motivate people to continue to seek these rewards or want play at all? It can be soul destroying for some!

Yes, perception is everything...and to most, this randomness 'appears' to be skewed.

Just ask the L89 player...still with no BRT, looking at a L24 farm which has 3 of them!

I like using mystery nets. Im not looking for the pearl so im not disappointed when I don't get it. Im happy to get cheesy decorations that sc can't sell and vouchers i don't need. It's the thrill of pulling that 5 diamond net up that gets me. Chill out and enjoy the surprise that awaits you.

You sort of miss my point here, however. The point isn't whether there are anybody who like the gnome or not. The point is that game presents you with what seems to be the option to buy something, and then when you get something else, there's a high likelyhood that you get disappointed. And disappointment is not a nice feeling, so I simply don't understand why SC seem so inclined to design their game features so they induce this feeling.

I'm not completely against randomnes - in fact, I think randomnes is fine, as long as it's presented as just that. The WOF is a perfect example of good randomnes, because here it's completely open that what you get is equal chance for any of the entries. That's fine, and I regularly even throw in a diamond to push an extra spin if there's a particular item I want, even if I know odds are low for me to get them - because I know exactly what I pay for.

When I order BRT, I get presented with a picture that shows me I'll get BRT *or* some other gift *or* random item. That indicates a 33 % chance to get BRT. I'm ok with not getting BRT at first try, or even after a number of tries, but now I'm way past 20 tries, and I *still* haven't gotten BRT. Statistically that places odds of getting BRT at <5%. And then the image just seems like false promises, because the impression it gives is 33% chance of BRT, or perhaps even more, given that it's shown on top. It is this discrepancy between what they seem to offer and what I get that gives me the frustration.

If the deal was I pay 35 gift cards to have BRT appear on my WOF, it's clear to me that chance of getting BRT is very small, and while I would still feel disappointed that I didn't get it, I wouldn't feel ♥♥♥♥♥ed. It's true that gift cards are given for free, but that doesn't change the fact that the way game presents it is "I pay something to get something" and then I get in fact something else.

Then you know what I think you should do? You should quit, that will show them! Besides if the game makes you feel that bad, then maybe it's time for another game. Maybe one with better odds.

SC isn't out to make anyone feel bad. They have done an unbelievable job in the creation and evolution of this game. But random is just that, nothing more. Your "chance" of getting something is exactly them each time you spin and does not increase/decrease by the number of times that you take that chance. That is an emotional belief, not a mathematical one.

i, too, have items that I can't seem to ever get. Don't want a BRT, but would dearly love the windmill or penny farthing bike. I have tried countless time to no avail. This entire game is based on opportunity of the moment or "chance". I have to agree with Tiggerr. Maybe Hay Day isn't the right fit. Games should be enjoyed.

I also am not able to win a pearl. I have casted over 100 mystery nets. It is frustrating at times but i just smile and cast another.
i have no gotten a windmill yet either. But I did get my BRT on the 1st try.
i have an army of gnomes and shaped hedges that i don't much care for, but they do not affect me.

My advice is,
cast 1 net a day
When you don't get the pearl, be frustrated.
when you do get the pearl, crack open a beer celebrate and smile.
i ain't talkin just smile for a second.
i am saying go to the local party store. Get party hats, kazoos, sparklers the whole shebang.
Invite your friends over. Put a sign in front of your dwelling that says free beer. Meet new people and have a heck of a shindig. Have loud music "maybe a dj or live band" dancing. Maybe meet a girl or guy. if your married maybe your wife will meet a girl "good times there" or vice versa if you are a girl.
you will be able to afford it from all the money you saved on nets.

this may change and completely alter the course of your life.

I like your style, well some of it. Lol. Can you imagine the party guests? People who don't need a reason to party and people who actually understand the reason to celebrate a tiny bit of pixelated fluff.

And like momx15 said. The chances of winning are not only not posted or guaranteed but do not increase with the number of times you play nor the amount of money you spend. Mathematically speaking each chance has exactly the same odds. The poor guy who goes without a meal to buy a raffle ticket has exactly the same chances of winning as the rich dude who spends millions to buy many many tickets. And everyone roots for the poor guy. That postman doesn't know how you got your tickets and the fishing area doesn't know if it is your first free net or your nine hundredth. That kind of coding seems ridiculously complex and actually sort of un fair.

When you say you should have a better chance because you spent loads of money, it is unfair to the guy who can't. Remember all the cries of not fair and chèating people wrote about when the global event showed such high numbers for some people. Everyone nodded when it was said that they must have hàcked the game, but in truth they collaborated and used diamonds. "It's not fair, I can't afford to do that!" The hypocrisy is pathetic. So yes it is wrong to reward the guy, just because he tried multiple times. His odds are and should be the same as everyone else.

Find a game that makes you happy not one that makes you feel chéated. It's pretty dumb to keep playing a game that makes you so unhappy, unless of course you are a masochist. Then please be miserable as much as you want.
