TH8 to get to masters ONLY with defense?

Not saying it's impossible, but you'll need a lot of luck. In the end, it'll be your offensive wins that contribute the most.

Well, if i manage to get to C2 with defense, I can do the rest with offense.

Of note, the last time my clan did trophy push was in January. Whe he did that was before level 6 minions and heroes' ability.

I wonder if you were willing to put major resources outside, to encourage attacking but less than 50% or town hall. Say you put max gold/elixir/dark storages outside, and walled up defenses and town hall and high hit point targets like army camps and clan castle.
I wonder if you could win enough attacks of people taking all resources and choosing not to waste troops for cups and no resources, before you ran out of resources. For example, if you always let your shield go full time, you could restock for a time period through collectors/mines/drills.
I've seen people do it on a small scale - like dark elixir storage outside walls by itself. I've attacked those for easy dark elixir while giving up cups, so I wonder if it could work on a large scale with a weak th8 base?

Good idea, might try this.

I'm sry mate but it's actually not possible to get in master league by defense with th8, anyway during my last push a guy managed it to hit master II by using lvl 4 hogs and being on as much as possible, so my hint is to play only when you plan to stay online for longer and just use hogs, obviously fill you DE storage before start climbing.

Farm DE then put it in a corner?

How about this. You make a base like tempest (that allows giants to keep on moving around but not to the core) and also make it anti-wallbreaker (using wizard towers, teslas, archer towers, and maybe even mortars).

My friend has a maxed out th 8 base, and made it to crystal I only on defense, but couldn't get to master.
