My farming strategy - TH7

Hi guys

My first post here. First of all, I'm a new TH7 farmer. My total troop capacity is 175 and my troop consists of 15 giants, 1 healer, 10 wall breakers and 60 goblins. I tend to pick bases with poor air defense (with the rocket placed on the edges). Generally speaking I can loot up to 100k gold and elixir each with a mixture of victories and defeats (that way my trophy count is maintained in the 1000-1100 range).

The downside of my current farming strategy is that it takes an awful long time to train the healer and I wonder if it's an efficient way to farm. I find it incredibly difficult to farm without taking out the mortars or wizard towers (or at least some of them or simply just to distract the remaining few before I release the goblins). As I always target players with at least 100k gold and/or elixir they tend to have strong mortars and wizard towers that can kill a whole wave of my goblins in a hit or two (and that's so painful to watch!!).

I don't play CoC all the time but a crude calculation on profit/hour would come to about 200k gold and elixir each per hour with my current strategy. Is this considered efficient farming at all?

Being perfectly honest, that is not an efficient way to farm. As you note, it takes quite a while to train, and honestly the returns aren't great either. At TH 7, you should rarely settle for less than 200k of each.

You definately should ditch the healer, and honestly the giants are probably unnecessary too (or at least that many is). Focus mostly on using barbs (or giants), archers, and gobs. Yes, you do have to watch the splash defenses, but they shouldnt give you much of a problem. You are in a good trophy range, though, and you should be able to raid many TH 6s dry.

Thanks for the reply! At the moment all my troops are at level 3 (still upgrading my lab since I just got my lvl7 TH two days ago). Would that be enough to crack an opening in the enemy's base for my goblin to get to the core where the storages are located? Also would you mind suggesting a ratio of the afromentioned troops for optimum farming? Also do I just release the barbs and archers first and only use the goblins once it's safe to do so?

On a side note, do you mean I should aim for at least 200k for EACH raid?? At my current trophy range I'd be delighted to even find a player with 100k each in 20 swipes.

Get those level 4 troops as quick as you can, because they help quite a bit. As far as ratio, you can play around with it a but and see what you like. Personally, i use about a 2.5:1:1 barb:archer:gob, but most people use more archers and less barbs.

Use a few gobs (emphasis on few) to clear out the collecters outside of a base. Deploy archers to destroy any outside buildings that arent in the range of the defenses and babrs to break the walls (or you can use wallbreakers) and take out the defenses in conjunction with the archers. It is best to deploy archers so that they follow the barbs, so the barbs are the ones the defenses shoot at. Save your gobs until you either crack into the core or until your troops are at the wall and need a hand.


And, yes, I did mean 200k of each resource each raid. Loot is definately plentiful where you are, but you can play around with it a little. Go a little higher and go a little lower and see what works best for you. Bases with 200k+ of each should be quite common, and most of them you should be able to raid.

I just use 90 archers and 110 barbarians each attack. I'v gotten to the stage that my troops are maxed for th7 and so are my camps/barracks. It works out pretty well for me and on average a get about 150k of each resource every 15 minutes.
I deploy my barbs to destroy buildings outside the walls with a few archers hanging back shooting. Then when it's time to break through those walls, i deploy the barbs on the walls as spread out as possible. My archers then follow shooting behind the walls as my barbarians are fired on. Eventually my barbs break through and flow through cutting down what they can, whilst my archers provide cover fire.
If there are too many turrets, sometimes ill send in my barbarian king to draw fire as my other troops finish them off. This strategy has worked pretty well for me, and i highly recommend that upgrade your troops and army camps ASAP.

PS: i tend to hang around 1200-1500 trophies.

What level are your troops? My giants are level 3 atm and they die within 30 seconds if I don't use a healer to back them up. I've tried using barbarians in waves before but they just take out the peripheral buildings and start hitting the walls, rendering them practically useless. Archers do the same thing too. I sometimes use wallbreakers but the archers and barbs just aren't intelligent enough to realise there is an opening just 6 tiles away from the wall they're trying to chip down. :(

Hi there! I've tried your strategy a couple of times since last night and unfortunately it doesn't work very well for me. There were occasions when I've destroyed all the peripheral buildings but didn't manage to lay a finger on the storages in the middle. I'm not sure if the fact that my troops were all level 3 made a difference? Upgrading them takes so long and I'm still waiting for my lighting spell upgrade to finish. So for the time being I'll revert back to my giatn/healer/goblin strategy seeing as that gives me a much higher success rate in looting albeit the long training time. I'll give your strategy another go when my barbs and archers are all at level 4. :)

Giants and healer is a well-known tactic, and a viable one, but it is a tad slow, and not used much. But if it works for you, and the other tactics don't work, then use it. What works for someone might not work for someone else. I would try the other tactics described a bit more if I were you though. TH 7 is very easy when you get the hang of it, when it comes to gaining resources that is.

Your first priority should be to level your troops and max your camps out. Upgrade barracks until you can have 200 troops in training at the same time when that is done. Max army and max levels makes a huge difference in striking power. You will be able to absolutely devastate TH 6's when it is done.

Offense over defense every time. It will speed up your progress a lot. And don't forget spell factory and spell levels when your troops are all level 4.

I see. I've been spending quite a lot of time and resources on my defense. Two hidden teslas are being built as we speak. I hate it when someone comes along to my base while I am offline and steal away my hard-farmed resources! (though strictly speaking my resources are obtained through the same method haha)

Yes, no one likes to lose resources (and pride maybe?). We all hate that.

But in terms of progression speed the importance of strinking power can not be stressed enough. Your attacks will bring in far more than an extra level on your hidden tesla will save if you are attacked. Defense is also important of course, but try to focus a lot on offense.

15 WHAT , Gaints , ATTACKING WHAT? LVL 6 TH wow that's crazy

Those lvl 6 Th are not worth a healer I used to 3 star lvl 8 Th with only 4-8 gaints.

As in my guide, Attcak comes before defence , get those Lvl 6 Army camps as soon as possible after\before Lvl 4 stuff but do it at the same time so search for huge elixr amount.

Use

8 gaints
8 wallbreakers
60 Goblin
Rest Archers

If you fail using gaints , switch th Goblins to barbs but it would be a ton more harder getting the loot

Good point.

By the way, I just got attacked by someone with 56 level 4 archers, 100 level 5 barbs, 37 lvl 4 goblins, 7 lvl 3 wallbreakers, one barbarian king, one healing spell and one lighting spell. And he only managed to steal 9000gold and 4000 elixir from me. My storages in the middle of my base were literally unscathed.
