Matchmaking eludes me

I am level 40, 1265 trophies. I am trying to save /get some gold so do some raiding and hope to earn more than i lose when i get attacked my making a strong setup. Also i put my town hall outside the walls so weak oponents without the means to get to my gold will attack me also and i get shield. What happens? Of the 8 times i get attacked all are way above me both in terms of levels as in terms of trophies. Most of the time they are 17xx trophies, the last one was level 65 with 19xx trophies. I did not even want to watch the replay because there is nothing to learn. I do not mind unfair matches but how come ALL are unfair while my base is ingeresting for weak opponents also (the loose town hall). Do i have some unfavorable tag behind my name in the server?

Yes, it's called having a lot of gold and/or elixir. I'm trophy 1300 now and you don't know how many times I press next paying 580 gold to find a decent village with at least 100k of either. My troops cost me 30k elixir to make so I have to get a decent return on my time. So, what is likely happening is that your opponent pressed next many times to find you.

The only way I've found is to keep playing for hours without stopping so no on can attack you, or use gems to pay for the difference.

Yesterday, I got so mad because I wanted to upgrade my archers which cost 750k-elixir (e). I had 720k e. I had to go run an errand and then when I got back, I lost 130k e. I was a little ♥♥♥♥♥♥ off, but the next attack I lucked out and won 100k e. I paid the remainder with gems because I didn't want that to happen again. Some people refuse to use gems, but they are useful when supercell makes the cost for upgrades so high now...

the other thing is to upgrade your mine/collectors and don't play when you get a 16 hour shield. 25k x 16 hours will give you 40k. If you have five mines/collectors that's 200k. Would that be enough for an upgrade? if not, you could put in a few more hours of play after that and hope for the best...

I can understand being sought out for high gold and elixer. Statistically however i would expect now and then to be attacked by a weaker player because he can win easily with the town hall out in the open.
I find it suspiciuos that this n e v e r happens anymore, while this would be the scenario most of the time. It is in fact the way i could easily save my 1200000 for town hall level 7

Even without gold or elixer, your TH will appear across +-500 trophies due to less TH lvl 7 8 or 9 to attack(minimum to none), and everyone want a piece of your, what supercell want you to do is buy a shield and not get target.

Even me at 200 troops I wont attack th8 unless is poorly defense. And even I found your th outside I still want to get the gold.

Ok, i will attack players with one barbarian until my trophy count drops below 800 then if that's the way they want it. I'm sure they would really like the game to be a contest in spending money on them but i'm afraid i am too aware of the stupidity in that. I see players in the top 10 that already own town hall level 9 on which they must have spent a fortune. It's like their personal weakness (vanity / ego) is being exploited. I think the amount of money you spent on a game should be maxed out at the amount you would normally buy a computer game in the stores.

The matchmaking system needs an overhaul. I'm right about in the same range as you (~1300 trophies, TH 8) and I almost exclusively get attacked by players 5 - 10 levels and 300+ trophies above me who wipe me out. And, even though I don't stand a chance against them, because my TH is level 8, they are able to steal 100% of my available resources.

Meanwhile...I can spend hundreds of thousands of gold looking for a match and find none that yield more than 3 trophies for a 100% victory. And because all of my matches are much lower level than me (usually 15+ levels below), I rarely find one with a TH 7 or 8, which means I can only get 75% of the resources (which are low to begin with). Without the resources I can't upgrade my defenses and thus can't ever hope to defend against those higher level players that frequent my base.

It simply doesn't make any sense...it seems as if the matchmaking system will only match you with players that have a lower trophy count. At least that has been my experience, seeing as I only get attacked by players with higher counts than me, and I can't seem to find a match that yields more than 3. It is nearly impossible to move up, but quite easy to move down. It's no wonder players have been trying to ditch their trophies, the game is designed in way that it encourages it!

Bottom line, player level NEEDS to be a factor. I understand that TH level is more important since it determines the number of towers and walls available, but player level can't be overlooked. A higher level equates to a player having more upgrades than another player of lower level and equal TH. Making player level a factor will also eliminate the benefits of dropping down to a lower trophy count, since you would still get similar targets and get attacked by similar enemies.

A large level gap can be a difference of 2+ levels of all defensive structures (including walls), but more importantly it is the unit difference that has the largest impact. A higher level player will have better units or a higher rank of the same units, and higher level camps for a greater troop count, which is why it is a breeze for a player to wipe out a lower level player with the same TH.

Well my trophy count went down enough to get rid of the disease.
Meanwhile a general shift in tactics is taking place. People don't care about trophies anymore because they know this game is about resources and upgrades. Once you have those you gravitate towards an according trophie count almost automatically if you let it. I just got raided by someone who got 39 trophies from me from a two star win. His level was 54 and his forces enormous but his trophy count was only 624..
It is going to be very hard to save for upgrades like this. I just immediately put all my winnings in walls for the time being.

Two points:

1) supercell can put opponents in front of you, but it is still up to you to decide if you want to attack or tap on NEXT

2) how did we get to 1300 trophies... you didn't cherry pick along the way? perhaps you attacked an easy target...?

i noticed once i broke 1250 trophies, the game got a lot more serious. :)

I was wondering if i got put in front of equal or lower players, that was the point of my question.
When you start aiming for trophies u run into a brick wall at some point. That point is determined by how advanced your defensive and offensive upgrades are. It maybe 1250 or some other point. That is what i mean with that this game is basically about resources and upgrades.

you have to realize that at any given point, the inventory of who you can attack constantly changes. multiply that by the number of online players. in an ideal world, we would have the perfect match up every time. unfortunately, the circumstances may not allow for it. i know in warcraft 3 and starcraft 2, the ladder players would sometimes have to wait incredibly long times to find equals to compete against. in clash of clans, players don't wait to attack... you just expect a peer you can attack immediately.
