Loot Problem (with data)

Who else is experiencing a substantial drop in available loot from raids?

I used to really like this game. However, now it sometimes feels more like a chore to play. I decided I would gather a little data and see how bad it really is. The data I have now is from 150 bases I either "nexted" or attacked.

This is just very little data, but I will continue to track this for a while. This little data I have gathered now does show that the loot seems bad.

My greatest concerns for the bad loot are the following:

1. The game becomes impossible for casual gamer -> 30+ next clicks is too many to quickly raid and play casual
2. Bad loot will decrease player base in general

I will update this thread soon. In the next update I will separate three data entries:
1. Total run stats combined - DONE
2. Current run stats - DONE
3. Former run stats - DONE

I am thinking of working towards a total of 1.000 bases.

CURRENT RUN 17-3-2014 17.30
From those 50 bases there were:

1. 1 bases with both gold and elixer above 200k
2. 2 bases with gold above 200k
3. 4 bases with elixer above 200k
4. 4 bases with both gold and elixer above 100k
5. 5 bases with gold above 100k
6. 14 bases with elixer above 100k
7. Only 2 bases with over 1k dark elixer
8. Average gold per base is 60k
   
9. Average elixer per bases is 84k
10. Average dark elixer per bases is 322

From those 4 bases with both gold and elixer above 100k I got to attack 2, the other were too well defended. In those raids I got about 265k of gold, 239k of elixer and 0 dark elixer.

My stats while attacking:

• Town Hall 9
• 1.715 trophies
• Time: 17.30 Amsterdam time
• Day: 17-3-2014 Monday

FORMER RUN 16-3-2014 23.00
From those 50 bases there were:

1. 1 base with both gold and elixer above 200k -> TH 10, unbreakable for my barch, all in storages
2. 3 bases with gold above 200k
3. 3 bases with elixer above 200k
4. 2 bases with both gold and elixer above 100k
5. 7 bases with gold above 100k
6. 15 bases with elixer above 100k
7. Only 2 bases with over 1k dark elixer
8. Average gold per base is 68k
   
9. Average elixer per bases is 86k
10. Average dark elixer per bases is 285

Attacked 2 bases:
1st base I got 245k gold and 179k elixer, second base I got 86k gold and 65k elixer. Both simple collector runs.

Loot was better this run, not much but it certainly was better.

My stats while attacking:

• Town Hall 9
• 1.619 trophies
• Time: 23.00 Amsterdam time
• Day: Sunday 16-3-2014

TOTAL RUNS (150 BASES)
From those 150 bases there were:

1. 2 base with both gold and elixer above 200k -> TH 10, unbreakable for my barch, all in storages
2. 5 bases with gold above 200k
3. 7 bases with elixer above 200k
4. 8 bases with both gold and elixer above 100k
5. 16 bases with gold above 100k
6. 40 bases with elixer above 100k
7. Only 5 bases with over 1k dark elixer
8. Average gold per base is 59k
9. Average elixer per bases is 80k
10. Average dark elixer per bases is 275

Nice thread, this is really interesting.

I see it as... loot comes and goes..

I have no issues finding 200+/200+ loot within 20 searches in Gold trophy level.

I farm 1200-1800.. someones bases come within 5 searches.. some 30.. it all averages to about 15-20 searches.. which is normal imo

I know this is just another loot is bad thread,but Ill tell my story anyway ,Im farming in crystal3 this morning and I got 1.7 mill gold,1.4 mill elixir, 3400 DE in 2 hrs with barrack,spell factory and heros boosted.
Biggest score was a abandoned base with 395,000 gold, i suggest changing your range and find the loot, its there somewhere :)

It would be good to do this every day at the same time if possible.

It's a fact that weekends are the most active, and guess what, everyone wants the easy bases with plenty of loot :)

Hopefully during the week you'll see less competition for the juicy bases.

I never farm on a Sunday now. Too much torture.

building on what stich said it would be cool to track the day and hour of your searches as well as the trophy range. all those things seem to play a very important factor in available loot.

There is loot in Crystal 3, but you need a powerful army, like Balloonians or Hogs.

I think offering bases with 1K gold and 1k elixir is just insulting...

Bases with less than 60k should be deleted from the queue.

i have noticed that there is a dry time around 12am EST

I am at the same trophy range as you and am experiencing great loot, although I am a bit higher.

this seems interesting! i cant say much else though since im town hall 8

about 20 more posts until i have 1000!

Am I the only one finding good loot? You are TH9, most of the loot I get comes from TH8-9.

I don't believe you. I never find 200k within 20 searches and I'm th9 and I farm the exact same place as you. I decided to do the same thing as the OP and here's what I got:

Total nexts: 97
0-100k: 90
100-200: 6 bases. All were well protected storage raids except for my raid at next #97
200k+: 1 base 200k plus with 97 searches. It had 221k but was a th10 with 2 ITs on disco mode.

After hitting next for 97 times I did find a nice 197k collector raid with the th outside. If that would have been under 50 nexts I would be fine with it. But 97 nexts is just stupid.

What about those people trophy hunting?
A TH6 getting into Masters III will be basically invulnerable as they show no loo to TH9 and TH10s.

Is it just me or boosting that many things and getting 1.7M gold actually very good loot?

I would love to do this everyday at the same time, but I simply do not have that kind of time. I will do as often as possible and be working towards 1.000 nexts. At that point I will release my data sheet in Excel.

That way other people can analyze my data as well. I have recorder the following.

• Exact amount of elixer per base
• Exact amount of gold per base
• Exact amount of dark elixer per base
• Town Hall level per base
• What I gained if I attacked

I only do the regular barracks,no dark troops. So only 70 gems :)

Loot for me was terrible this weekend. I only attacked 3 or 4 times. I got so frustrated after wasting 150k just for searching. I´m between 1400-1600. This isn´t really fun anymore.

It comes and goes. Loot changes as it changes. I just raid for around 2hrs when my shield expires and then go into a 12hr slumber period during which I log in at the 6hr mark to chat with clannies and collect Mines/Pumps.

Its so much about the Trophy range, you may have to go up or down several times a day to find where the loot went. Also I never expect to find that much loot on the weekends, so my expectations are much lower during that time period. I find that it is about even when you compare those Clashers finding good numbers to those not seeing anything good at all. This is just my 2 cents and that won't get you very far.

Sorry but that was a waste of 70 gems. Two straight hours of boosting and only 1.7mil gold? I would be disappointed with that big time.

Try an army comp rather than barch and go after some storages. Loot is out there sometimes, sometimes it's not. Not sure why barchers complain so often when they are limiting their raiding from the start by not being able to go after decent storage bases.

The army comp doesn't have a very big influence on the data. It's mostly about how low the available loot is.

I do see a flaw in your thread, though it is a very nice one.

There are so many players who have registered in clash, that I am betting that if you were to press next 100 more times in the same range again, you will have completely different results. Most of it is luck, it is randomized. Random isn't always the truth.

Adding on to that, the TH loot penalties also have their effects. A TH6 in gold ll will say the loot is so amazing and that clash has done a great job. A TH10 would say otherwise.

Is this making any sense? You are on the right track with pressing next and finding the average, but to go all out on this, I would think you would have to have accounts from TH5-TH10 searching at least 1000 times. That would be much more reliable evidence...in the same trophy range.

I can conclude that the game has just grown too big to do studies like this in each league, but if you are up for the challenge, go ahead. It can really shed some light on the loot issues, and where the loot really may be.

That is why I am working towards a total of 1.000 bases. Ofcourse results will always be different, but my average will give a small representation. There will always be a massive amount of date I used that is variable.

If my loot is bad after pressing a 1.000 times next, I could conlcude that I am either extremely unlucky or that the loot is actually a little broken.

However, what are the parameters for "bad loot" one might ask...? That is different for everyone, that is why I will be releasing my data sheets at the end of the run for everyone to analyze themselves.

Went down all the way from Crystal 1 to Crystal 3 within the last 2 Hours. I was nexting over 300 Times, just to find out that there is no loot. It really starts frustrating me.

During our last trophy push i was Crystal 3+ for about 1.5 Weeks. Searched way more than 1000 times, found not a single abandoned base. Only Storage Raids with 200k/200k+ were TH10 with 2 Discotowers and 3 XBows.
Before the push i was Gold 2 and Gold 1 for 2 weeks after Gold 3 dried out: same story.

I guess it hardly depends on the timezone you live. During Daytime in Europe, its really hard to find barely anything.


But yeah i know: "You are in the wrong trophy range, try higher or lower". Can't hear it anymore.

it would be nice if there was an app that you could run before you start playing clash of clans and it would log all the data your client received from the server in a text file. If some programmer could make an app like that it would be epic, that way every forumer could download it and we could get statistics for different trophy ranges, TH's and raiding times/days.

I always sit and farm between C2 and M3 and have done for weeks and weeks. Are you tring to suggest that something magical has happened in the last hour which means I will now need to next 300x.

You coyld try really raiding rather just going for abandonded bases and a few unprotected mines?


It sounds like you are punching above your weight, why not try dropping to a more appropriate league for your level.

If you are a semi-levelled TH9 then try 1850 to 2150. That's the range I used to farm in and it was ok, well can't complain anyway other than the odd 50-100k blown on fruitless nexting. But if that happens just walk away for 30 mins.

I'm not questioning your gold grab or your skill as a farmer. I'm questioning finding that kind of loot with only 20 nexts. It NEVER happens for me. NEVER, EVER. NEVER. The minimum nexts since December has been 30 with the average being 50.

And I don't really care about ppls gold grab anyway. Boosting makes gold grabs a highly overrated statistic.

Storage raiding doesn't make any sense from a loot per hour standpoint. A storage raid army needs at least a 30 minute cook time and generally 2 or 3 spells unless you find a truly pathetic base. So unless you can log on every 30 minutes all day long (and of course if you do that you are going to get bled dry by ppl attacking you since you are constantly breaking your shield) the best you are going to do is 500k per hour. That's not going to max walls at th9.

I continue to say th9 loot has been good for me. I had great success in January/February 1400-1600, and I'm having good success in March (2000-2300), BArching both times. I am not saying you are doing anything wrong, but I am saying some people are finding good loot at th9. By good, I mean 10-20 nexts to find gold 150k-300k in storages (can't always get it all, but can get a lot of it), with a collector raid every few battles for 150k+ easy with minimal troops. I know people do better, but the point is this is sufficient for sustained gameplay.

My criteria for a base I would raid:

• 120k+ elixer
• 120k+ gold
• Possible with the following composition
  
  • 8 wallbreakers
  • 12 giants
  • 80 archers
  • 64 barbarians
  • 2 rage spells
  • 1 lightning spell
  
  

I am a casual player. Whenever I log on, I don't want to spend more then 10 minutes on the game. I aim to do at least the following:

• Empty collectors 1 minute
• Donate where needed 30 seconds
• Do 1 raid 4 minutes and 30 seconds
• Load up army 1 minute
• Clear obstacles 2 minutes
• Start an upgrade if possible 1 minute

4 minutes and 30 seconds used to enough to do 1 raid. Now I NEVER find a decent base anymore within that time. Usually the 1 raid alone takes me 10 minutes. That is simply too long for me... :(

EDIT: I usually log on about 3 times a day. Also added a poll to the thread. Curious to know how you guys think the loot is.

A lot of "solutions" have been offered. I really wish the entire system was redesigned to make available loot you can steal from a player much smaller, while greatly improving the loot bonus. This would make players more competitive. Instead of the loot the defender has to offer being the main loot the attacker can get and the loot bonus being a small boost, the loot bonus would be the main loot while the available loot to be stolen would become the bonus...

I'd like to see more ranges in your raiding. I appreciate included time and day, as I've noticed big differences


To add my input

I've raided from 1800-2700 and notice big differences


1800-2000 can be good during the week. Tends to have a decent number of collector raids to pick from, however there is a big mixture of base levels. So as a Th9 it was a fair place to be but now as a Th10 I think it would be terrible.

2000-2200 - loot here was so up and down that most of the time I ran screaming from it. Occasionally I would get a good run, which is what happened to get me to move past it into the Crystal II range.

2200-2300 - better than Crystal III most of the time but still very hard to predict. Weekend loot was just horrid.

2400-2600 - Loot for Th9 was usually solid here. I actually could find collector raids from time to time but again weekend loot was sometimes so bad I'd question even bothering with it (I remember one weekend where I was actually forking over more in next costs than I was making...)

2600-2700 (as high as I have been) - I raided here for a solid month. I loved it. Only reason I am not currently there is that my spell factory is down and raiding with loons without spells is very hard at that rage (rage spells are huge)

Loot goes up, it goes down... There are legitimate reasons for these posts. Right after they push all the new inactives to the back of the queue, loot is terrible for about a day. After that, the new new inactives start showing up in queue and loot improves. Two and three days after a culling, loot is outstanding for around 3 days before they are culled again.

The real issue is that SC expects us to magically get all the loot we need from storages in well protected bases, then protect our loot from others, re arm traps every time, and still make all the gold we need both from a fun standpoint and a base upgrading stand point.

Fact is, active people who take lots of gold from others who are capable of filling those storages also empty them very efficiently, taking most of that gold out of the system before it is lootable. I loot about 100 times more gold from others than is taken from me currently. That is not sustainable. Their gold economy is not very stable for many reasons and there are solutions, but SC is very slow to implement them. Their insistence on pushing inactives to the back of the queue exacerbates the issue.

The majority of loot in the game comes from collectors. Period. People blast collector farming, but it really is vastly superior in gold per hour and efficiency. It is what feeds the chain, all the way up to the advanced t9s and th10s where it stays.

Im a 800+ million gold grab th9 working on lava walls for some reference.

Your gold grab is 350mil. How can you say the loot is good? My gold grab is almost double that with zero boosting and I didn't start playing until July of last year.

150k in storages is horrible. Unless you use tons of spells you can almost never get all the storages in a base. Here's some more numbers for you (and for the record I had a full dragon army cooked here so I was going after storages):

58 total nexts
0-100k bases: 52
100-200k: 4
200k-300k: 1 TH10 with ITs and 200 DE
400k+: 1. This was also the ONLY BASE with over 1k DE in 58 clicks. Fully developed and well designed TH10 with 2 ITs . One in single mode and one in Disco mode. No way anyone is farming this town without a GoWi army.

On next 58 I found a base with 198k gold and 750 DE. With a full dragon army last year I would skip that base, but now, after 58 clicks, I had to hit it.

This would please everyone apart from Supercell and is my ideal solution.

However, it won't happen. Raiding is their money sink - it costs us resources to get resources and the net increase in wealth in the game is minimal. With increasing loot bonuses to realistic levels it means that each side can take more away from it.

Meaning, ultimately, less gems spent on boosting and in the treasure shop :). It pays for them to keep us poor, or at least on the breadline.

Clash of Clans is a fantastic game, and could be an all time great, it's just ham-stringed by the way they have chosen to monetise it. It's a shame there isn't a subscription option like with other MMO-type games (Lord of the Rings Online springs to mind). Mind you, that would have to be reasonable and competitive, and their vast earnings are based more around impulse buying currency for grossly disproportionate amounts of cash.

I don't think averages show how good/bad the loot system is. Obviously if the average is high the loot is good, but a 30k average can still be 300k every 10 nests, which i consider good. The amount per base is useful though.

Not to be mean, but 850k gold and 700k elixir per hour with barracks, SF and heroes boosted is really really really not good.

I know your intention was to prove that there's loot out there, but the data you provided suggests otherwise.

I think I'd cry if that's all I netted in 2 hours of dedicated play WITHOUT boosting anything.

And if I'd spent gems to do it I'd sob uncontrollably.

Beside the abysmal and malicious loot system change introduced in December 2013, a ghastly unbalanced reward for defense vs offense is also to blame.

Because players are punished severely on defense and barely rewarded, too many resort to nefarious tactics such as throwing their town halls outside. Combined with the vast horde of town hall snipers who seek Master's 1000 gems, huge amount of bases are being shielded away from the CoC economy.

Supercell's blatant bias toward offense is actually hurting the attacker. Overall, it has become a lose-lose situation for all.

The fix is very easy to implement though: just by giving loot bonus to defensive wins will encourage a lot more players to protect their town halls, thus putting more bases and more resources back into the game.

Very interesting indeed, I am shocked by the amount of nexting I have recently been doing, it all started about a week ago, I even dropped 200 and went up 200, and it all seems to remain the same lol, the loot is there it's just taking me 100+ skips to find it.

Because down there is no loot for th9+ ;)

Currently, all the loot for TH9+ is between C2 and M3. With th9-Troops, its rarely cost-efficient to raid up there (depending on wich army composition you use).

Inconsistent that for me best describes the loot. When you miss the "time" that it is good, your planned upgrades are in trouble, however if you hit it 800-1M an hour is a reality. 2 townhall 9 accounts both are in the 1600-1800 range and each has 250+ raids last season.

TRUE :) whats the point of nexting 20 bases with less than 60k anyways. Nexting costs more then it would return..

Very very inconsistent.
I was pushing for the last two weeks and nexted a lot of collector raids (300 to 400k of each resource).

Push ended on Sunday so I expected, when dropping back to my regular farming range, to see tons of these bases again on my way down.

Alas...loot has been terrible since then. Same for most of my clanmates. Even for those in totally different cup ranges than the one I am now (Crystal I). Most of them are in Gold I, II or III.

I think it depends on the range and the time two nights ago I got 3 million gold in 2 hours with 2 baracks boosted but after that nothing during the period of thos 2 hours I looked maybe 20 times to find collector base BTW I am a TH9

Interesting analysis. We probably need more of this to demonstrate whether there is/isn't an issue.

I do have a couple of comments/thoughts.

I'm not sure it's fair to add the two samples together, they were taken at different times and I would expect time of day makes a difference (In my view it makes a massive difference, but I've never actually tested it). You've stated the time and the time zone, so this is good.

The average is of limited use as we are effectively looking for the outliers, ie a decent frequency of high loot bases. You've included bandings to this gives more granularity than just a mean, so good.

For me loot is random. Yes trophy range makes a difference, ie on the whole you'll se more DE at 2600 than at 600, but I don't think its fair to say loot moves from one range to another. I think a range "drying up" is just an artifact of randomness.

Each of us has a different definition of what is good loot and what is bad. Even with some decent statistics we will never agree. There is no need to belittle anyone or flame as a result of it.

Loot is pretty good found heaps of bases.

I am also keeping the data for every 50 bases run stored seperately in my data sheet. I just also give a total score for general view of how I did.

I am mostly just gathering data, translating all the data is indeed tough. I am keeping all the data stored including time and date etc. Although I agree the average is limited, I do believe it gives a little insight as to how an average player (me) fares nowadays. I believe time and trophy range can be of influence but should not be of such great influence that the game becomes non raid able at certain points in time or trophy range.

So u got 4-5 good raids in 150 nexts which is 30 per raid nice ratio

There are plenty of raids avaialable at 1400.

Im hitting 200/200 on a regular basis with my mini as a th9.

We have actually reached the point where having to skip 30 bases the find a decent one is a "NICE RATIO"? Also, keep in mind that the average of the loot I gained per raid is the following:

• Gold 155k
• Elixer 133k
• Dark elixer 0

I do NOT find this a "NICE RATIO"!

Also, my major problem, is the time it takes for a casual player (like me). I used to be able to do a quick raid during work hours every now and then. This is now impossible because it takes too long...

I used to do a quick raid before going to work.
This is completely over as well.

Maybe you just need to get up earlier.:D

There is always at least one player that finds _excellent apocalyptical incredibly awesome 1337_ loot.
So i can search 100 Times in each Trophie range and don't find such loot. So this may lead to the following result:

A) Loot hates me. Whenever I look for it, its hiding from me.

B) That _excellent apocalyptical incredibly awesome 1337_ loot is lootet by the time i got up.


So if A) is not the case, i maybe do not have to change trophierange, but timezone? lol

I'm not saying i want 200k/200k each time within 10 times searching. But hej: If the game would be balanced, finding a 150k+/150+ raid every 10 times next would be totaly okay. In more than just 1 good trophy range per townhall.

Haha this made me chuckle :D

There are a few problems with increasing the loot. The major loot raided comes from abandoned bases with full collectors. How can we improve this? There are 2 options:

1. Stop pushing back the inactive bases the back of the cue -> Problem with this is that these bases will get attacked repeatedly and quickly drop to below 200 trophies. Sub 200 farming would become immensly popular again. Higher trophy ranges will be near IMPOSSIBLE too farm since there will only be active and well defended bases.
2. Introduce collector level 12 -> I don't see a problem with this, I don't know why they haven't done this yet... :confused:

Seems to me like option 1 wouldn't work. Option 2 however should be implemented.

I believe however that we should have a completely different way of gaining and losing resources. It should be bases way more around trophy range and town hall level. Loot gained and lost should be based on the following:

• Your trophy range
• Defending trophy range
• Your town hall level
• Defending town hall level
• Small percentage on loot stolen
• Amount stars gained on the attack

The system would be very much like the trophy bonus, but way more dependant on the loot that has been stolen. Let me give an example.

Player A attacks Player B.
Player A has 1.650 trophies and is TH9. Player B has 1.600 trophies and is TH8.
Player A wins, 2 starring his base.
Initial trophy reward in his range would be 100.000 gold, 100.000 elixer and 100 dark elixer. Since he only 2 starred the base he will be getting 75% of that (1 star would be 50%).
Current reward: 75.000 elixer and gold and 750 dark elixer
He is 50 cups higher, therefore his loot will be decreased in by the difference in trophies x 100(x10 for de). Therefore he will be getting 5.000 (50 for de) less.
Current reward: 70.000 elixer and gold and 700 dark elixer
He will also gain a little on resources stolen. This should be about the same, only 10 times less. Good base would only give 20k then. Let's say player A got most of it.
Current reward: 90.000 elixer and gold and 800 dark elixer

Player B will lose exactly half of that.

Ofcourse these numbers are just too make this calculation easy. I don't know what numbers they should be using exactly, but I do believe this system would work way better. Also, this would make cup hunting way more viable.

Only downside to this is that there will no longer be any need to protect collectors and storages. That would ofcourse be a little weird.

I mean c'mon Supercell, it was that easy:
1. Change the lootsystem -> nobody has ressources anymore, exept of a few hardcore farmers
2. Lower the cost of collector-boosts -> people starting to invest gems to get more ressources
3. End the boost -> players very unhappy cause no gems and no boosts and no ressources
4. Be the hero -> give some more free gems (for clearing obstacles and gem box)
5. Remove the gembox because of some "technical" problems, you don't want the people to have to much gems for free
6. Let players buy gems -> profit


Just some mind games of myself ;)


But honestly, i see i way out of this mess wich may work very well:
Every won defense gives you 2-4x the league-bonus of the league you are in, depending on how much ressources you have in your storages

So maybe you will lose very much if you get crushed. Or you will profit a good amount if you hold the attack.
So no more cheap shielding, more bases available, more loot available, more income -> everyone happy.

...yeah I know, its never that simple... This would never work in Master and Champion. But those leagues are a broken joke anyways if you ask me.

This is actually false. Most people know they shouldn't gem resources, just time. By increasing the loot they will most likely sell more gems. People will have more resources, therefore be more likely to speed up upgrades.

I wouldnt consider 200/200 apocalyptical, its above average, nothing more. I did find a 600/600 last week, now that was apocalyptical.

Anyhow, I next maybe 30/40 times to find these. I come prepared to crack storages so Im not fussy where the gold is.

Im talking here as a th9.

I think finding 200+ in under 10 searches is a big ask. Regardless of what you think it was never that you could consistently find 200+ each 10 nexts before the December update.

This isnt true.

Before TH9 inactive bases offer the same defence as if they were active (apart from CC).

Most inactives are farmed only for loot, this means there cups tend to go up to a certian point before dropping back down again. They do not steadily drop to sub 200.

How sure are you about this?

In wich situation would tending more to buy gems:

A) You sitting on 5 sleeping workers and need ressources to do anything

B) You sitting on 8m/8m Storages with 5 busy workers


Would be interesting where people gem more. And if they gem just because they have gems or if they buy gems for one of those specific scenarios.


The point with the abandoned bases is true. We have a th10 player in our clan wich makes longer pauses from time to time. He always is between 2400 and 2600+ cups without doing something by himself. Crucial for this is, that the th is protected inside the base. If not, you will drop down into nowhere cause everybody can win the battle.
