There are also, some very viable counter-arguments.
1. TH8 always lose defense to TH9, will not be any different besides they get 10% more easy enough to cover on attack. If you have a snipe, people will go for that instead.
2. There are always good collector bases. People leave for the weekend a lot. Just because you are TH9 does not mean everyone will magically come back on and lose collector loot. I also bet most of your loot is TH8+ anyways.

Unfortunately, there is no hunting mode with the base. Keep trying until you get it right though!

get AQ and max camps asap... you will able to farm more people in this area and farm much faster than before,

people that say it will be easier to build walls on TH8 is because you will have no construction left, so you can 100% spend your gold into walls... not because you will get less loot on TH9.

if you're not doing any def on your first th9 month, not building xbow, etc... indeed you will build walls faster with help of AQ and 10% more space...
but normally, your walls will be slowed down because you will have new xbows, wt, ad, at and tesla to upgrade.

2x xbows alone cost 12 skull walls, 3x lv.7 mortar cost around 20 skull walls, 4x lv.7 WT cost around 40 skull walls.
If you're not upgrading them, then you will got 72 skull walls... but I think those def turrets worth much more than walls. :p

Thanks for the very detailed response! Are you saying I should upgrade my Town Hall, then upgrade all my walls to level eight first, or are you saying I should upgrade my Town Hall, then upgrade my defenses first?

of course defense is more important than walls

but because you should max offence and storage first at early days and all you need is elixirs, so dump all the gold you have into walls first so they won't get looted by those decent th9/10

as soon they're finished, I would focus on upgrading defense.

Drew, make sure you reach TH9 with storages bursting (no building time for AQ!).
And do not spend all of your 6 mil elix right away.
I couldn't, with only four builders and two of them set on x-bows, I only spent on lab and drill....and found out that that was good: At every new TH lvl the game jumps a change on you (loot penalty) and you have to re-arrange your game play. At first this also has something frustrating about it, because things were going so well before!
It also tends to make me loose confidence in my attack strategy and army set up and it just takes time to over come and recompose.
Now, if I had spent all my elix doing army camps as well as lab and drill and maybe throw in the SF....I would not have been able to do those giants as soon as the lab was completed.

if your troops are max i say move on up.. you can get 20 lvl8 walls done in a day just do it while you move up plus legos are easy just move up and make sure you have enough de and gold to start your new th9 stuff from the jump like your archer queen and both xbows

Think I got something need to move a few more stuff after watching an attack last night. He got in the base pretty good. But have a mortar and WT upgrading and defense not as good as yours yet. Gonna make some more tweaks to it. And I think I'm gonna be good. Thank you

You should really finish your walls first, I know many th9 who regret not maxing walls.

Tap that upgrade button like you mean it. It doesn't matter if you have lvl7 or lvl8 walls it still takes the same amount of wallies to break through. You love th9 cmon join the Dark Side lol.

Yep. Time is the most precious resource in the game. Don't waste sleepy builders. Town hall 9 upgrades take forever. X Bow - 12 days, 14 days, tesla 14 days, and on and on...Plenty of time to farm walls, that most good armies jump over or fly over anyway...
