On the topic of boat preferences or etiquette

Ok, long and opinionated rant coming up ..

Before the leaderboard was introduced, I have to admit that I rarely filled jam crates. Same goes for juice, cake and ice creams in big quantity crates. Mainly because I used majority of my stock for truck order and is lucky enough to have a few available. The reason why I would prioritize truck order over crates is because I could get more xp out of choosing good truck orders while crates always give a set amount of coins and xp per item (with a ratio of around 50/50). Because of my limited resources, I would never fill sugar or dairy boats as these majority of the time won't be completed and I rather see my investment on a boat with bigger chance of being completed.

With the leaderboard, I've decided to stop using my good stock for truck orders and prioritize filling my neighbours crates instead (I don't fill any of my own anymore so my neighbours can get the points for filling instead). However, with my new "generous" mindset I made a terrible mistake, I've been filling any crates I could, needing jam, juice, ice cream and cake. Many of these crates having cream or sugar and ending up not being completed in time. After using up all my good stock in these cursed sugar and cream boats, I would see other neighbours only missing 1 crate of ice cream or something else. A few time their boat didn't make it because of that 1 crate and I would get so upset with myself for putting all my stuff of those darn sugar and cream boats.

Therefore, I'm now officially withdrawing all my aid to sugar and dairy boats for the greater good. I'm not gonna force or tell other people how to play and make then discard sugar and dairy boats if they don't want to. However, unless they're willing to fill their own sugar and dairy crates, I don't understand why insist on keeping them and hold their breath hoping others will. Never the less, sugar and dairy boat keepers, you will now be on your own. I'm not going to continue "wasting" my good stock on boats that 90% of the time won't make it when I help other boats with a realistic chance of being completed in time so the owner can get his/her voucher and all the other bonuses.

Please join me in boycotting these repetitive sugar and dairy boats (especially cream and brown/white sugar) that lingers on our exclamation tab an entire day and 90% of the time end up leaving docks not completed. It's for the greater good! You're not being selfish by using your good stock to help boats that actually has bigger and better chance of being completed in time! Who's with me?

I haven't put any on a boat since I finished Captain 6 months ago.

I, 100% completely agree with you. Every time I see a boat that needs help with sugars, cream, I usually ignore them and move onto someone elses boat and see what they have. I do this for my own boat as well. If the boat is asking me for sugar or cream I never fill the boat and just send them right off. So everytime I see a neighbor asking for sugar or even cream, I will just ignore those crates and move on to someone elses boat who needs help with other good items.

I only fill sugar and cream crates for Captain lll candidates.
I myself cast off sugar and cream boats.. they're not worth it..

Agree 100%! OK-so I went to help my neighbors, and after a few boats I saw a major pattern so I went back to the beginning and actually started counting. So 63 neighbors needed boat help at that time-46 were sugar boats-I felt bad but the other 17 got my help. And since I'm opening up all my crates for my neighbors to fill-well, it was a really boring Hay Day day, lol.

i swore I wouldn't mention the "thing that happened to the game 5 days ago", lol on the forum today-I was going to be cheery and happy, but it seems more people are hanging into those boats then they used to-so they don't have to wait 4 hours for another.

But notice how I still didn't mention that thing , lol?

I support this dairy/sugar boat boycot

I want to help my neighbors/friends but if I fill those boat orders i find myself having a hard time producing food items for myself. Also I want to add that whenever I get one of those boats I send it away and wait patiently for a new one to arrive that its not so hard on other people or myself to complete.

I never loaded Dairy and Sugar boats even before the leader board. I would send them on their way and then spend a diamond to bring in the next one in. Now that boats cost 10 diamonds I send the sugar boats on their way and then have to wait a few hours since I don't want to spend 10 diamonds on something that was only 1.

BTW I have 52 bags of Brown Sugar right now if somebody wants to trade for Bolt, Planks, or Nails. :)

Hear, hear! I agree, I simply cannot put that much sugar or dairy products into a boat! I need them and want to use them to make ice cream and other things. I've had this policy for a while now and I personally turn away all sugar and dairy boats, for I will not ask someone else to do what I will not, leaderboard or no leaderboard! Double sugar boats, IMHO, should be sent off ASAP as well. I don't even think they should send out boats asking for that much in sugar! By they, I mean Supercell. I also, personally, hate it when the only crates that people leave for others to fill are the sugar ones! That's a pet peeve of mine. Like I said, that's just my opinion and goodness knows it isn't worth much!

As it is, I cannot keep up with the jam and ice cream boats. I send off the ones that ask for double ice cream as well. I will still fill crates, but not to the point where I have very few jams and ice cream, vanilla ice cream and apple jam in particular, although raspberry is becoming a problem for me also. Why can't they just reduce the amount they ask for? Not the players, but Supercell. 3 apple jams=18 hours of production! 2 raspberry jams=14 hours in production time! That's just ridiculous! And a lot of those crates you only get 1 wheel!

I think sugar boats should only be opened if you are going for Captain I-III. And the people on that thread are simply awesome at helping out with that achievement. So yes PinkStarbelly, I agree wholeheartedly! Too many items require sugar and dairy to make and I need all the sugar and dairy I have to make those items. Understand that I am not criticizing those who do open those boats but also understand that I cannot help with those orders.

I'm not telling anyone how to play and if you want to open those boats, that's your own personal choice. But I am saying I can't help.

I also understand that no one likes to wait 8 hours for another boat but if it's 8 vs. 13-16 hrs, I'm choosing 8 any day!

As a suggestion as a player,I think I would be tempted with 3 points for a 12 count crate and maybe 2 for a crate with 7 items of white/brown sugar and syrup.
Dairy wise I'm still undecided.
This is NOT an official response though so don't get your hopes up.
This is just my personal playing experience.
Id be curious to see what ideas for points you would suggest for dairy also.
Maybe we can twist an arm!

I've never counted but that's interesting! I feel bad too about not helping but most of the time I don't have the stock! I agree with PinkStarbelly, I've seen a lot of your posts, I bet you'd be a great neighbor! :D

I agree about filling sugar on boats. I did not realize you can skip a boat! Will have to figure out how to do that. I only fill sugar on my own boats mostly or to help captain III candidates. As a result, my production is always hurting and I rarely have sugar or dairy products in stock, even if I did want to help someone out!!

Since this last update, one of my pet peeves are people who ONLY open up the hard items (sugar, jams, dairy) but you can see that they didn't open the easier crates. So, they basically want their neighbors to spend their valuable production items on their boat, while they fill the easy items. I refuse to help those folks. I'm almost at the point of cleaning up my GC friends list a bit.

Your right, the wait is a bummer, but don't give SCell any ideas-next they might make boats 13 hours in between or you could call one early for 100 diamonds.

No-I wouldn't fill those crates if they gave more points, but I would fill those crates if they dropped it back down to 1 diamond.

Hi Neicy! All you have to do is push the same button you push to send the boat off. Just push it when it arrives, before any crates are filled, they'll ask if you want to send it off and just confirm that yes, you do want to send the boat off. :) If you have any other questions about it, I'd be happy to help!

As a forum newbie (i mainly lurk aside from checking out GC ID thread) and someone who just began repairing my docks today, even i have come to the conclusion that the LB and diamond increase for calling boats has had a pretty big impact on the way many folks are playing. I only decided to begin repairing my docks today because instead of sending Tom to his nap in the ditch after the prizewheel truck came by, my real life hound dog bumped my arm causing me to hire Tom for ten days. Since i can't usually play during my work day, Tom is usually a weekend hire for me. But since I'm stuck with him, i may as well make the most of the situation and begin seeing what the boat fuss is about. Is there a benefit to the captain achievements other than the usual pittance of diamonds and bragging rights? My only real goal right now with my boat will be to earn the vouchers I need to get the hound dog as my first pet -- I figure that's what my real Walker hound Charlie was telling me by insisting on the extra Tom days... He wants a virtual mini-me.


Since the whole update kerfluffle, I haven't really changed my playing style that much -- although i have filled more crates this evening since i know i have Tom around for awhile.Most of the time I am unable to fill the cream, sugar, or dairy crates for my neighbors... Either I don't have enough already or it would deplete my stock to the point I am unable to make other products. However, I did fill a sugar for a neighbor who had a boat leaving in less than an hour -- even though it hurt -- it will take overnight to replace that quantity. I did it because this particular neighbor often buys from my shop, has watered trees and bushes more than once, and regularly has good things for sale in their own stand. I admit, it felt good knowing the boat was completed too.

While I won't make filling sugar and dairy crates my life's work, if I can help someone who routinely helps me, I won't say no.

umm... It seems Tom is awake and ready for an errand so I must send him off now. (Is it stupid for a grown woman to seriously consider setting an alarm for every two hours just so she can play a game?)

I agree completely to the views here. Sugar/Cream boats are a waist of our resources. Good you started this thread PinkStarBelly. The message should go out there. SEND THESE BOATS OUT EMPTY.

The point system for the crates is maniacal. 2 or 3 points for things like sweaters, casseroles, etc., and 1 point for jam sugar or dairy crates. What are they thinking?

I would only CONSIDER filling a cream of sugar crate IF we got a 30-50% points for the quantity of items needed in crate. In other words 1 point per 2-3 items. If not, I might as well make spend 5 mins to make an espresso and basically get a point for each white sugar. As Neicy pointed out, the point system needs some adjustment and we should get a certain procentage of points for each item. Could be more or less depending on what type of item it is but right now it's just wrong. Let me give u an example:

<7 carrot juice = 1 point
>7 carrot juice = 2 point

Instead of using filling 2x7 carrot juice to get 2 points, I can fill 1x8 to get the same amount of points and save 6 freaking carrot juice. That's a very big difference. Soon people will figure out the point system and start being selective on which quantities to fill. As if being selective about type of item isn't enough.

I do understand that there are special circumstances and I myself filled 2 brown sugar crates for a good neighbour to wrap up his boat once (that's the only time I've ever filled a sugar crate aside from my own when doing Captain3). However, my main point is that I'm not going to load any cake, ice cream or good items on a boat that is asking (more like BEGGING) for sugar because it's a bad investment for the greater good. The the owner of the sugar boat will gain nothing from a half-empty boat when time runs out while other boat owners can gain coins, xp, wheel points and a voucher. Which boat should I put my good items in?

Hahaha! Just kidding. Wouldn't be in my right mind wasting my precious sugar to prove a point. MY PRECIOUS! Besides, it would violate one of most important policies, not flagging sugar or cream. The other night I accidently opened a crate without realizing the boat had brown sugar crates (this was on my baby account). Not being to sens the boat away and being a good sportsman, I opened up all crates aside from the brown sugar. Let my neighbours get points for the easy crates at least instead of becoming a sugar begger.

Going by everyone's reactions so far makes me believe that there might be some adjustments to be made to make it worthwhile.
Its great to see all the intelligent responses to this "sticky" situation (bad pun I know)
May be we can see if we can sweeten the employees a little (doh there I go again ) :)

I would add that there should be limit on number of items per crate, particularly the choke point items, such as dairy or sugar-related items. Crates of 13 b sugars are just too much and makes the game more boring and frustrating. Those boats will sail empty from now on, now that I know you can do that. I'm so glad I started reading the forums. I have learned so much from y'all! Happy farming.

So many variables in this awesome game, that I'm still amazed it works. Tweaks are a part of life, right?!? I'm sure they will work out the boat leaderboard play.

I have so done this...more than once. :( In fact, I did it today with a cream boat. Some nice soul came and filled one crate asking for 7 creams, and I was able to finish the rest thankfully. Now to replenish cream... :rolleyes:

I'm so glad you started this thread, pinkstarbelly! I have been frustrated for days...boat after boat with nothing to fill but sugar, sugar, SUGAR!!!! (And cream) :) I love to help anyone who needs it, but it starts to get a little overwhelming just trying to keep enough sugar and cream for myself. Ever since I read about being able to send boats away, I send then away as fast as I can! But.....

Sometimes my poor mind isn't all there, and when the boat shows up I just tap on something that I have lots of without thinking and then realize that I just screwed myself and anyone who might look in on me. I just did that last night with a cream boat! :(

Here's my suggestion, aussiebob...let's get supercell to let us use our TNT on the boats needing sugar and cream and we can blow them sky high!!! :)

Ok, that is really awful! No way should boats like that even be sent out in the first place! Shame on you Supercell! Sheesh, the amounts asked for on sugar and dairy boats are bad enough! But these are flat out ridiculous! I do realize that they are probably randomly generated but there has to be a better way and a solution to this. I would send these boats on their way completely empty! They really need to look at the boat system, what is asked for, the amounts, and the number of points per crate! Some of these crates should be worth far more than 1-2 points! It would take forever to restock that much jam, never mind that it is difficult as it is to stock the amounts needed in most people's barns.

I stopped filling sugar boats the day the LB update arrived, I noticed straight away that suddenly there were loads of boats needing an unholy amount of sugar - even those that were posted in the co-op boat thread which was s'posed to be for easy boats to help others get their co-op achievements. I'm still sending away sugar/dairy heavy boats coz I wouldn't expect other people to fill them for me so I certainly don't see why I would fill sugar crates for anyone else. Most people justify the keeping of the sugar boats by pointing out the increased cost of calling the boat in early and not wanting to wait for the next...they'll just have to make sure they have the goods themselves to cover their difficult crates - or have other neighbours who are kinder than me I guess :p

Agree with everything on here. I will fill my own sugar and dairy crates if I think I can do it...otherwise I wave them off...it's unfair expecting others to fill them and the recovery time from them is loooooong! I never fill doubles, let alone triples, wth is that all about?! Since the LB, there seems to be an increase in these items....my last 5 boats had syrup on them.


A lot of my nbrs have just sugar or dairy crates open or the double jam and fill the easy ones themselves....same ppl too who seldom help me...so my finger is hovering over the delete button again


I wouldn't be interested in filing these crates if more points were offered either...just not worth it. I thought the LB would give us some incentive other than wheel points...like a voucher when we reach a certain number or a bonus of some sort....how silly of me!

That is exactly what I do when I want to try my own sugar boat challenge (which happens rarely) open all the other crates besides the sugar for my neighbors. Great minds think alike!

And those double sugar boats-white & syrup actually make me cringe! It would take me days to recover from a boat like that!

I wonder if the crew on Captain3 thread has ever had to deal with a triple sugar boat for a candidate. Since they can't skip any boats, any boat has to be worked out. Hehe! Gonna go ask tomorrow, bed time now. Will probably lurk around for another hr though lol! As my title says - addicted.

Don't remember ever having a candidate having a tripple sugar boat.. We have seen a candidate needing a tripple sugar just a few boats after graduation.

We have had tripple vic boats if I remember correctly.

Pinkstarbelly, since the day you helped me complete my 1st trade, i read many of your posts, i grew nothing but admiration and agreement for everything you say.

I have been thinking of a nice way to put the sugar and dairy boat problem across to people, without making it sound like telling others how to play the game. This thread does just this.

Many people do not know how to cast off, i didn't until I met you. So allot of the problem is lack of education, but there are people who are just set on completing every boat and then get upset if it doesn't happen. A sugar boat, if ever completed, will take longer than the 4 hours the recast will take.

What starts to ♥♥♥♥ me off is when i go around checking my neighbours boats, 90% of them need sugar, syrup, cream or butter and the "easy boxes" are locked. I seldom find a good boat. I no longer add anything to a boat that needs sugar, not wasting my hard earned mats.

From now on i will open all my boat and save my mats for others.

If I see a boat needing sugar and dairy and other items I only fill the other items if they are really easy and I have the supplies for it however I try to use the juices, ice creams cakes and jams on boats which have a chance of being filled completely so my neighbour also has a chance to get the full shipment bonus items. I would much rather use them on a boat which has a chance of getting filled.

Since the ! tab starts at the high level neighbours I try and remember not to use everything I am willing to fill on the high level boats. They usually have plenty of neighbours and someone will probably get to their boats too and if not they usually have the stock levels to fill a few crates themselves. I try to help out the lower level neighbours with difficult items just a little more because they may not have the stock levels yet to get the boat out without help and with limited barn size it is difficult to hold on to a certain stock level. If I have completed my rounds I go back to the higher level ones to see what items I can still fill.

All my "!" with markers on my friends list only ever want Dairy or Sugar items 99% of the time. I'm in agreement that it isn't very fun when going from farm to farm seeing Butter, Butter, White Sugar, Oh look more White Sugars! You have to filter very hard to find anything that you can fill. I'm the same though Pink I get very annoyed and sick of getting boat are boat wanting Sugar or Dairy related items too!

With you on that one Neicy, in fact when Supercell first put the new leaderboard live on the servers it was only 1 Diamond to speed your boats up. They soon patched it after about 3 hours as people were climbing up the leaderboards VERY quickly, stupid thing is they didn't reset the scores so people who hammered it for 3 hours getting boat after boat still got to stay high up on the scores!

If only more people would do this - my new pet peeve is seeing boats with only the sugar (or 'difficult') crates open and the farm name changed to 'white sugar boat plzzz!!' :mad: I get the feeling that neighbours who consistently do this will become subject to a deletion.

Sign me up please, I never feel guilty even if I can fill crates with my Sugar and Dairy products I won't. Only rarely I do if I've noted they've done it for me in the past or if it's real life friends that play lol!

Dear Supercell,

With the new leaderboard system, you have increased the price of speeding up the arrival of these boats from 1 diamond to astonishing 10 diamonds. However, I think there should be a compromise here. What is the point of speeding up boats only to be slowed down by those that require at least 45 brown sugars and 50 creams? These boats remain idle for quite sometime or may even be casted away hence wasting 10 diamonds each time. This system of bringing us sugars is just not practical and fun to say the least. I strongly suggest eliminating these types of boats entirely.

Clueless me. I didn't know until about 10 minutes ago that I could send a boat away I didn't like. I agree entirely with this thread. So after my current boat, I will be sending the sugar/dairy boats away. Still trying to get my trucker 3 achievement and can't do it if I'm giving all my sugar to the boat. :(

I'm definitely in the cast off sugar and dairy boats crowd! The only time I consider keeping them is if the amount per crate is very low, and I have enough to cover them (or can make enough in a 4 hour window).

There have been so many sugar (and cream) boats lately that most of the boats on my ! tab need them and nothing else. That's just not fun.

I don't mind helping out with a crate here and there... expecially for neighbors who help my boats in return.

I'm at level 44, and managing sugar and dairy is probably the only challenge left in the game. I would hate to have a second machine, and if there were no sugar/dairy boats it would also make hay day life too easy, I think. I always fill my sugar/dairy boats if I possibly can. Sometimes, I will flag one crate, since its nice to be able to send the boat off a bit earlier. If it gets filled, I make sure I return the favour. If I haven't had a sugar boat in a while, I'll also fill neighbours crates, but never those that flag all their crates. As somebody else said earlier, that just seems a waste. If the owner has filled some crates themselves, though, I'll put my sugar in if I can.
Maybe I'm lucky and other people get way more sugar boats than I do - but the way it is for me at the moment, it works fine (I never call boats early, though, that might help in re-stocking).
Dairy is harder than sugar, I think - don't think I've ever been able to put cream into somebody's boat. I always seem to be low on dairy items.
I too think that the wheel point thingies you get for filling other people's boats needs adjusting, especially for sugar and cream.

It always sucks using 28 white sugars for a simple boat... when they could be put to much better use :)

I'm getting tired of every boat I go to being the same items needed as the last 5 boats I visited. I like helping boats but there are far more products out there other than sugar and ice cream that the game produces that we can use to fill boats. I had two of my own boats back to back with ice cream bins. I also think it's ridiculous the amount of time it takes produce things like ice cream, juice, metals etc... so not only are we struggling to fill orders for our own boats we can barely help our neighbors. I always have a stock pile of everything else to help with boats, but never the sugar and ice cream. Too many boats need it all at the same time. Frustrating!

Thank you for bring this up, I sometimes forget I can send a boat on its way. Ipad was done for a week, and all the new boat stuff came on while I was gone, it's a wee bit confusing. Also thanks for adding me, first time I had done that as well. I will do my best to be a good neighbor!! :rolleyes:

A thread where people want to be neighbors with players who:

1. Cast off all boats that ask for sugar or dairy products, i.e., you never have to visit their farm when the exclamation is showing and see all sugar crates needing filled.

2. Open all crates on the boats so their neighbor can earn leaderboard points.

3. must have some type of picture linked in their GC profile (so we know who helps on boats, buys things, waters plants).

4. Never puts "help my boat!" as name of farm. LOL

What other criteria? Sound crazy?

Was thinking same so definitely agree.

I just put a post on the GC add thread asking for 'open crate' players...hmm lets see if anyone adds me lol

First of all I would like to say that as a player I do understand the sentiments and I don't like seeing these sugar and cream boats on my neighbours farms all the time just as much as any regular player.

However I would like to ask you not to start a new thread like that. It will not be long before we have a bunch of threads like.. Please add me if ___________ (fill in your playing rules)

This is confusing to new forum members and will only lead to double posting on every thread and could be annoying to the community when all they see on page 1 are these threads burying all other threads.

If you share your GC ID in the thread you can also mention what kind of playing style you are looking for. Or randomly ad people watch their style and defriend if you don't like. It takes a bit of managing the friends in GC but you can obtain a list of people who think alike.

I send mine away, and I typically don't help with others unless it's a good day where I've been able to make extra over my usual personal minimum stock of each. When I think of this, I imagine white and brown sugar, syrup, butter, cream and cheese. But then tonight, as I mindlessly opened some ice cream crates, I thought, "these use dairy and sugar, and also take quite awhile to make. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea."

I mean, my ice cream crates are always the last to get filled, if they get filled at all. If I'm lucky, I've been able to produce enough overnight and throughout the day to fill them myself. Additionally, I notice that my neighbors' ice cream crates are usually the last ones standing. I typically try to make some extra ice cream overnight so that I can fill a neighbor's ice cream crate in the morning, but then if a boat of mine later in the day wants one, I just can't fill it.

Anyhow, I'd be interested to hear your opinions on ice cream crates. :)

I am still opening ice cream crates and will occasionally fill a neighbor's ice cream crate if I have the stock, unless the neighbor has left easy crates closed. Exceptions are for those going after captain III or are players who don't have an ice cream machine yet.

So, my next boat has popcorn...easy....strawberry ices...probably can do a few crates...and raspberry jam which I have absolutely no hope of filling having put all of mine into boats of others. Dilemma is this, do I open all the crates, fill those I can and hope? If I find jam hard my neighbours will most likely find it hard too. The ultimate result can be a nicely opened boat that does not get filled and just sits there looking forlorn. Most of the time I send these boats away even though some dear nbr could possibly fill one or even two crates. Does this make me a meanie?

I think you have no chance in getting that boat filled..... ( since there is no strawberry jam in the game... LOL )

Seriously though.. I usually decide when a boat like that gets in and I can view the quantities. Jam can be 1-3 a crate depending on the type and straw ice creams can be 1 or 2. It also depends on the number of crates is it a 9 or 12 crate boat. I usually make my decision for a boat like that when it gets in.

Whatever you decide is totally up to you and depends on how you want to play. I myself would send it if it's difficult with higher quantities and maybe keep it when it's lower. Then again it also depends on the neighbours you have.. Are they more high or low level players. The exact same boat might be easy for me with my neighbours but quite difficult for someone with a different group of neighbours.

No-it doesn't make you a meanie at all-I don't think you could ever be considered that, LOL. Personally-I would open all the crates on a boat like the one you have next. If it gets filled great-if not oh well. But as you say-the popcorn and strawberry ices are pretty easy. I'd send Tom out to get raspberry jam for you-because I have only seen one boat ever of yours that needs help! I think our time differences might be an issue here-but I would fill what I could of that boat. But as you may have read-I'm not playing for leaderboard points-I would just do it because your you, lol.

You're a great neighbour and I'm sure that boat would have been filled for you...I save jam for my 'special' neighbours haha....and as you always help me with the popcorn crates etc, (which I seem to get stacks of and never enough barn space to hold 15+) I'd have filled some jam for u lol.

Thing is whilst your farming, I'm sleeping (or should be)...we usually catch a boat though :)

Not to distract from the idea of boycott but:

Has anyone asked the game designers to get rid of large sugar products and dairy products in the boats? It makes sense since they don't ever ask for animal feed (which is the fastest to make anyway) and since sugar and cream is always being consumed by other products like cakes, cookies ice cream, the list is pretty long, shouldn't that be excluded too?

I think it's just a faulty design of the game. Makes it uninteresting to play if one has to think every hour to check the game to get sugars into the barn and make nothing else that uses those products....


Even if we can choose not to fill those boats, I think it would be better if they don't come at all for everybody.

I don't want to waste my time clicking fifty times hoping to help someone out and finding maybe 2 or three crates I can help in my neighbours boats just because of these sugar and dairy things. Does anyone really?!

It defeats even the "social" aspect of the game. And maybe it encourages premium diamond use but that's just to take advantage of newbies. >:[

Thanks K for merging the 2 topics as they are quite relevant to each other. Hm .. I can personally say that I fill my ice cream queue with vanilla ice cream most of the time switch off to cherry popsicle if I'm missing white sugar or cream. (I make have strawberry ice cream and switch off to cherry pop on my baby farm as I don't have as many queue slots there). I use all my ice cream product for neighbors boats and I can also share that I prefer filling the bigger quantities crates of VIC (x3) and cherry pop (x2) because they yield more wheels per item and also get filled less (because many people don't have as many spare/available). I try saving them for my lower leveled neighbors (unless it helps a high leveled player to wrap up the boat), I have a handful new ones and I know they don't have many neighbors as even their most basic crates crop crates don't get filled (until I get my hand on them, that is) lol!

Other things I have as first choices to put on queues when I have all the ingredients to fill neighbors boats are:

Pie oven: casserole, shepherds pie, feta pie and apple pie
Cake oven: carrot cake and potato feta cake (strawberry cake and cheese cake on baby farm because of few queue slots)
Bakery: bread and cookies (the rest can be bought)
BBQ Grill: baked potatoes (whenever I have spare cream and cheese)
Jam Maker: cherry jam
Juice Press: carrot and tomato juice (cherry and berry juice on baby farm because of few queue slots)


So if your boats are asking for these items, big chances are that I will be helping to fill them. Some product like vanilla ice cream always run out halfway through the list as every other boat is asking for it. I'm trying to put up some personal guidelines for myself on which boats to prioritize and so on. I might stop filling double orders. And since I'm quite strategic, I do choose crates asking for a certain quanitity that yields the most XP if I'm low on that certain item (example: x8 carrot juice, x3 tomato juice, x2 casserole, x3 berry juice, x12 popcorn, x3 carrot cake, x3 vanilla ice cream, x2 cherry popsicle, x2 cherry jam, x2 berry jam, etc.)

I have a boat needing butter and vanilla ice cream. With dairy and sugar boats, I've lately tested out putting my own butter, sugar, etc in my shop at a low price so neighbours without butter or whatever, coming to visit me can help, if they don't mind spending a nominal amount to buy my stuff. I've noticed that when I have for example, a butter heavy boat, a couple of my neighbours do too, so it works to just make loads of butter and share it around. And it was working for the last 2 days, until today...

I was a pretty annoyed today having just put on 2 sets of four butters, and 2 x2 ice creams, that my neighbour swooped in and ninja'd all my stuff and didn't bother to do one thing to help my farm, and most heinously - did not use the stuff for my boat. Needless to say, that person - UNFRIENDED from GC.

Oh well, back to sending away dairy and sugar needy boats, and so much for trying to be helpful.

Im sorry this happened to you but I have to say that this was a poor choice on your behalf and deleting that neighbour was wrong. If you really want to go the extra mile and let someone else get the wheel points, you contact a close neighbour offering to sell the butter and ice cream to fill ur crate for wheel points. You dont just put it in ur store and expect crates to be filled. This neighbour could've been out shopping and looking for something in particular and went from store to store (using the icons INSIDE a store, hence not comig in contact with boats or exclamation points) without checking boats or trees on that round and happened to stumble across your great items (for a great price too!) and bought it without thinking too much about it and moved on to next store to look for what he/she was out on a mission to buy originally. He/she impossibly could have known it was deliberately put up for sale ONLY for a person to fill your crates. That's just having too high expectations on a plan thats not bullerproof in my opinion ..

I agree with Pinkstar. Don't expect your GC friends/followers to have the powers of mind reading. Your neighbour did not "ninja" anything nor did anything "heinous." He bought it fair and square. And you being overdramatic about it won't get you good neighbours.

Thanks for your opinions. I was a bit hasty in my post, and omitted a couple of things.

Firstly this neighbour has never revived a tree or filled a crate, never helped apart from cleaning out my shop, which in some cases, is fair enough, but not for my other neighbours who never get a look in. I know it's more for another thread, but I guess I'm one of those people who thinks people should take what they need and leave the rest for others as opposed to the other camp who think "you sold it, what does it matter"?

I prefer not having loads of out of game communication and don't arrange trades and stuff, and just want to get on with producing and selling. For this reason, I renamed my shop "STUFF FOR MY BOAT", just to clarify the situation, I wasn't expecting people to be mind readers, but they could read that while in my shop and realise what the deal is (those English speakers among them). I knew it was a bit of a gamble when I did it, but the other neighbours who had filled my crates after buying my stuff obviously did get it, hence my frustration.

I still think that expecting people to behave based on what you think is a good neighbour (ie. buying only what they need and leaving the rest for others) will set you up for a lot of disappointment--unless, in some magical way, you can ensure that all your neighbours would act the same way as you do.

I would give that "ninja" the benefit of the doubt as there are a number of reasons he may not have been able to get your message even after changing your shop name. He could be a 5 year old kid who can't read, English may not be his first language, he may not have read nor understood your shop name, he could be blind.

Yeah-not all neighbors can be perfect like me!

Hahahahaha, I kill me. Just kidding. I agree with Pink & Hayman-and who knows maybe your neighbor plays on a iTouch or iPhone-the screen is tiny-they might not have seen your farm name-also perhaps they were going very quickly. When I'm on a roll going through my neighbors stalls-sometimes I don't notice anything.

This thread has been most helpful. As a hayday addict, I have become a bit frustrated by everyone requesting sugar. I have been sending those boats away if I can not complete them myself in a timely fashion. Once however, I filled a crate before realizing brown sugar was also on the boat. A wonderful neighbor did help out. I am forever in her debt.

What PinkStarbelly pointed out to me that I had not thought of was opening up my entire boat each time. This is how the game should be played. My neighbors can get boat points. I do think that I will fill it myself after maybe an hour to not lose out on the boat points that are received for quick completion.

I agree send away the sugar and cream boats and open up all the crates to help out our fellow neighbors. Not just the hard to fill items.

Actually, Stevedore can be earned by filling other people's crates too. I didn't open my dock until just a few days ago, but I was earning credit for that achievement before then for filling crates. I remember thinking it was an error in the description of the challenge.

Hmm I see. Maybe they need to change the description so not to confuse us....

The so called "rules" are becoming too much. Open all crates, only fill the difficult, don't raid the stalls, buy all you want, don't you dare touch the last stall, return that trade item you bought from the trade stall, You better say thank you after the trade, make sure you water my trees if you want to be a good neighbor, make sure your tree is where I can see it, don't sell your bacon and eggs, don't advertise your B&E, help lower level players, etc, etc.

I say play the game the way you want. If you don't like the way a friend is playing, just delete and move on. If you get deleted, don't worry about it, there are plenty more players asking for friends.

Personally, I think changes to the 'ask for help' facility on boats would be beneficial. Aside from Supercell reducing the ridiculous demands for sugar/dairy/ice cream/jam (which gets very boring to come across time after time), players should HAVE to fill at least one crate from each order category before the help button can be activated. This would significantly reduce the amount of boats requiring help, particularly with difficult orders, which in turn could see more useful or high demand items in the newspaper when players need to release barn items to make storage space.

Secondly, once 'ask for help' has been requested, players should not be able to fill those particular crates on their own boat-this will make many think twice before doing so. I have a lot of followers as I help boats frequently but it is irritating when you go to the trouble of making the amount for the order only to find the player completed it themselves! Why ask for help in the first place?! I am then left with a barn or silo fit to burst and have to get rid of the stuff I've made. Needless to say, I don't help these followers anymore.

Perhaps Supercell will consider this for their next update? Who knows.........

Thanks for the info on sending a ship away immediately-I didn't know this and I've always left a boat needing aforementioned difficult/impossible to complete orders to run out of time and move away, but shall be sending them on their merry way from now on!

From what I've read, most folks are opening all crates (ie: "ask for help") to allow others to fill if they can for wheel points.

Before I went to the Captain III thread (almost there :D), I had started opening all crates and filling some of the harder ones myself. If people filled most of the crates and only one or two more needed filling and I had the stock, I would complete my own orders so I could send my boat... Especially if I needed to go offline for a bit and needed 4 hours without checking my boat.


Personally, I did not plan my production queues around someone else's needs... But if I had and the crate had been filled,I would have either sold off the extras or filled someone else's crates.

I am beginning to understand why so many players want a chat feature for friends. it's too hard to know what everyone likes and doesn't like.

Evidently what I was thinking did not quite portray in what I typed!

What I meant was when a boat comes in, player clicks ask for help as a matter of course, then fills the crate(s) within a very short space of time. In the meantime, the player willing to help (ie me!)starts production on those items (which can't then be cancelled) or scours the newspaper. Whilst I appreciate that another player may fill the crate before I can, I don't appreciate it being the person I was trying to help out in the first place-it just feels like a bit of a wasted effort :(

I think as a happy medium, there should at least be a time delay to when a player can then fill a crate on their own ship when help has been requested:o
