On the topic of boat preferences or etiquette

I dislike the sugar and dairy boats too as they are the basic requirements for most other products to be made. I always send them away, and will wait the four hours for the next boat. Im not paying 5 diamonds for something that costed alot less before!!

I don't follow the leaderboards, I have no interest. Im not interested in achievements - I play for fun, and help out with neighbours boats when I can/have stock etc.

I like Hay Day, but the latest glitching in the game is bugging me I have to say:(

I also agree! I never keep a boat i cannot fill myself and open 1 of each, not the 3 hardest to fill. I am very close to unfriending those on my list who keep opening the sugar crates. I am not sure which i am more frustrated with....Hay Day for sending the sugar boats or neighbors who refuse to send them away!

Ah well...happy monday!

Before, I at least opened half the crates and a few times I opened all of them. Now after the update, I open up one of each item. I figure if someone wants to fill it they will and if not, that's fine, I can try to fill it myself. I have awesome neighbors though, so they usually get filled. I always try to fill what I can, even sugar and dairy, if I've got it.

But there seems to be a large dairy or sugar component in each boat, and if not that then Jam which I find worse than sugar and diary, or ice cream or something like that. I'll send away a jam boat before I send away a cream boat, if you've stocked up on your other diary products 7 cream doesn't take so long (28 a bit longer admittedly). And if you send away a boat with syrup or something in it, the next boat is guaranteed to be white sugar, brown sugar, another syrup etc.

I like the way you play Muggaloo - I was thinking that instead of sending away the dairy/sugar boats I would just open up the easy crates for others to fill and then forget about the bad stuff and spend the time stocking up my stores.

Hmm perhaps that's the way forward.

Except I just had a boat with 12 crates of jam. 2 jams each. Absolutely impossible to fill, in any situation, unless someone was lucky enough to have 10 of each Jam already stocked. And we know how long it takes to make jam. And don't take me as whining too much, I just sent the sucker away and moved onto the next boat of double sugar and cream which I also sent away ...

They just need to remove the 3 crate limit. Full stop.

That's the way forward.

Woke up this morning...turned on my Ipad and accepted my boat before I realized it was a syrup boat! Wept a little and stomped my feet. So I opened one of each of my crates for friends to fill( chili popcorn, blue hat and syrup). I would spend the rest of the day filling my 4 other syrup boats. Then realized I wouldn't have time to produce that much syrup as I volunteer at an animal sanctuary from 10-3 on Tuesdays (true story, not just for sympathy from fellow sugar boat haters). So, decided to just not bother filling my boat...but wait...I had already asked my friends for help with no way of taking those open crates back, essentially asking them to fill crates on a boat I had no intention of filling. Wept a lot. What should I do I thought? Put a message of apology in my farm name? Then when I checked out the boats of my friends who needed help I noticed that two of my most helpful friends, level 61 and 58 need help with cream. I filled them. Boycott over and way too much thinking spent on a game I actually really enjoy. I will now wake up my son's friend and drive him home from their sleepover, spend the day changing litter and clipping paws and NOT think of Hay day once!

I don't follow leader boards either I play for fun. I have gotten to level 67 by just playing the game. I help random people when I can. This game for me is not a competition.

The dynamics for crate filling has definitely changed since the 3 crate limit was introduced. I still don't fill any cream or sugar crates but you can definitely see who's serious about actually trying to fill their sugar boats compared to the freeloaders now. Many people only flag 1 sugar crate and you can see they are slowly working on producing sugar for the unopened ones. I now aid these boats if I can, compared to before when they wouldn't be qualified as I would save my stock for the many other open crates on better boats. There's still people who flag 3 sugar crates but I'll ignore until we get a new update to decide if I'm deleting them or not.

Another difficult situation is where I can fill the missing crates, however, the boat would only have a few hrs left and no way would make it as a lot of the unflagged ones hadn't been filled by the owner. Makes me sad as I would've been able to save the boat if all crates were open.

this is a chicken and egg situation actually, i also face it before.
i open 3 crates, and i know i can fill the rest IF those three open ones are filled. however the open ones are tough crates, so i selfishly decide to wait till the last minute. if my 3 crates are filled, i will fill the rest and send the ship off.

to the helper (you) , i may seem like unable to fill the rest but actually i could...

^ by doing the above i feel i get less help. hence now i just fill everything immediately and open 3 for friends. if within the hour its not filled, i fill them myself and send the boat off cos i crave vouchers.
