Personally, when I see a sugar/cream boats with at least 1 crate closed, it means that neighbor has the intention of filling his own sugar/cream crates and is probably producing stuff to fill them as we speak but is asking for some help to get there quicker. That, I respect because at the end of the day, if you can fill you own sugar/cream crates, who am I to tell you that you may not? I also understand that many people don't even know they can send it away so if I see a sugar/cream boat with ALL crates open, I will ignore it as it doesn't "qualify" for my aid but next time it might be a better boat and I won't have an issue with filling jam or cake for that boat. My only beef are with people who fill all easy crates themselves and ONLY leave the awesome sugar/dairy crates for their neighbors. 1 single thing that is 5 million times worse is when it's an active forum member who does this. THEY KNOW THEY CAN SEND AWAY SUGAR BOATS YET THEY INSIST ON KEEPING THEM AND ACTUALLY HAD THE AUDACITY TO FILL THEIR EASY CRATES AND LEAVE SUGAR OPEN, that's probably the lowest of the low and I'm seriously thinking about deleting them all. I do trading sometimes and I want to ignore sometimes for the convenience in case we do trade again inthe future but I honestly don't feel like looking at their sugar boat all day. Maybe they'll just have to re-add me if we ever trade again and I'll just delete them afterwards again. Business strictly since they're obviously not desirable neighbors.

i see the points go down by the hour I think. I'd have to time it. The only time I have boats take longer than 30 minutes though is if they fill while I am away, and don't get back to send them off. Or overnight of course. :)

I'm glad I'm not the only one having this dilemma. At first I would fill all crates that I thought would put someone out. Then I started thinking that they see them closed and must be easy ones. So, now if I decide that I'm going to do a jam or sugar boat I leave them unmarked so others can see them and I'm going to do them myself.....once the other crates are filled or it has reached the 5-10 minute mark I fill the jam and any remaining crates. I know if I see someone with all easy crates up for grabs and they have only one tough crate marked and two unmarked(doing themself) I am more apt to fill it.

I just open them all up. After 30 minutes, fill the ones that are still open and send. I did notice a couple of boats ago, that I sent the boat in under an hour and only got 15 points. There may be some twist in the algorithm.

I did this with my last boat- a brown sugar boat, opened the easy crates, and filled 2 of the brown sugar myself. The whole boat was filled very quickly. I have the best neighbors!

I wished it would show what the crate was filled with, after it's filled. And also if the owner filled it, because random players can't see that I did it myself. If I see that someone has marked sugarcrates, and 1-2 of them is filled, I often just assume they did it themselves - because it's not normal to get help with those. I usually send sugar and dairy boats away, but when I see I can manage to fill them myself, I keep them. And I still open all the crates, because I like to have them all open :/..
Even if I open just the other crates, I may have to fill them myself too. So I just keep them all open, just in case someone wants to help and earn xp or wheelpoints and because I like that every crate look the same. Sure it's a weird thing to:D I never think someone will help me with sugar anyway and I see why it's frustrating, I also gets annoyed at times. I just don't want to be misunderstood when I once in a while keep a sugar boat.

I don't understand that someone gets irritated because you fill your own crates after you have marked them for help. If you can't help right away with items that take long time to produce, you must understand that the crates may be filled by others - or the owner too not lose the wheelpoints. I just give up to help with those boats that I can't help right away, if I don't think I can find the stuff in the newspaper within minutes. I open all my crates when the boat arrives, and let it wait for an hour or so, while I wait and advertise to give people a chance to fill them. If it's not filled then I do it myself (I usually can do that), and I hope it doesn't bother someone. I guess everyone has their own way of playing, which they think are best. Too much unwritten rules are just confusing, and some of the things listed here I have never thought of. But that's just me :)

I agree with ignoring sugar and cream boats! I feel badly about not helping friends when I see their boats sitting there forever but if they read the forums they'll know they probably aren't going to get help. My next boat is the last boat I need to fill for my Level 3 Captain and I'm terrified it's gOing to be a damn sugar and cream boat!!!

I do agree with you guys. It take a lot of time to get those huge amounts of sugar crates filled. And it waste a lot of time to fill those tall orders.
