There are certain situations where I will help on a sugar, dairy, or jam boat. First if you are a candidate going for the Captain Achievement and communicating I will put everything I have on their boat. Second is my closest circle of friends that I will put most of my stock on. Third would be those who are clearly trying to complete the boat and have been producing and filling some crates. For those who fill all easy crates and leave only sugar and make no effort to help their own boat I say they should have to watch it sit there with the timer running out for a day. There are very few boats that I can't complete and still cast off boats that require "too much". I open all crates and anyone wanting wheel points are welcome to them. After 5-10 minutes I will fill the remainder and send it away.
Good question pink. You get bonus ladder points for shipping fast. Looks like its 16 points for immediately. I wonder when it decrements to 15 or 14 points? That would be the reasonable amount of time in my mind.
The latest update has caused me to change my barn inventory. I used to only keep a couple of chili popcorn, blue hats, sweaters, wool, etc. in the barn because I knew I could get in paper in fairly short order. Now I keep about a dozen each of the easy-to-find items in stock, because when boat stalking, I better have those items in stock! LOL. If I happen to have jam, cakes, pies in stock and someone is near to their boat shipping time, then I will load them. It's frustrating to me that you get 1 point for 2 apple jams, and 3 points for things like wheat or milk. That's just plain nonsense and whoever came up with that point scheme either doesn't play the game or has a sadist mentality. I refuse to load apple jam as a result unless its a captain III candidate.
I used to stock my shop with hard-to-find items, but do so less now. I think others are doing the same thing as the paper has MUCH LESS good items (or that's my observation at least).
Well, time for Tom to make a run. He's so glad I don't do sugar dairy boats anymore. Now he gets to go for things other than white sugar and feta cheese! :)
Just now, 42 minutes in before boat was completely filled, I still got 16 points. I remember another bost that took a bit over 1 hr went down to 15 so I'm guessing each hr a point will be deducted. Make sense sense as maximum is 16 points and the longest time a boat can get is 16 hrs.
If you can fill your entire boat as soon as it hits the dock and then send on its way, you get 17 extra. But it's gotta be quick. Less than 30 seconds? I've done quite a few en route to my Boat Score III I achieved this afternoon.
Also' I am guilty of opening sugar boats by accident. I got so caught up in getting a boat that I had a huge amount of product for that I didn't see the brown sugar lurking, or I just fell asleep at the wheel and got stuck with a sugar boat. I did however either try and fill it myself, or send Tom on a scavenger hunt.
one thing I noticed though being inside the top 20 was that it didn't make a big difference in time it took to fill. It was almost always filled within the hour. I did open some syrup boats on purpose because I had a bunch of syrup but I would go on a boat help hunt, and before I could get back to my own boat, it was filled.
I filled a lot of my own crates because I also wanted the XP points, but I ALWAYS try to fill as many neighbor and followers crates as I can, including those needing butter, ice cream, syrups, sugars and jams. :)
great thread, and I love pink's photo! :)
