You just gotta b active and expect the worst. You can easily get there by hitting town halls outside the wall. The trick is to get equal to or more that you lose on defense. Good luck :)
I was crystal 1 at th7. At th7 expect to be 3 starred most defenses. That being said you can maintain with a good 4-6 attacks a day. Try to keep shields as long as posssible but dont run them completely out unless you know youre gonna be on when they run out. For example if you get home from school and have a hour on shield but have to leave house in a hour dont let the shield run out and leave with no shield, break the shield when you get home and do 2-3 attack in that hour then leave and know you probaly got enough trophies to make up for the defense loss. Its way easier to stay in crystal and master then people think you can not play for two days and lose 3 defense and 50 trophies and make that back in a hour. Thats why alot of people can easily farm in crystal and maintain it for weeks
another thing you need to remember is to prepare before you get to crystal by starting upgrades first because you won't generate much cash in crystal if you are there just trying to hold the badge. most important thing is to not let a push stop you from advancing in the game so don't let your builders sleep. remember that if you are a low town hall you wont win many defenses so put town hall outside of base no need to protect something that is going to get taken anyway, you never know you may get lucky and someone just like yourself will attack it and give you a free shield with out the loss of resources... clash on brother TheDonMega ... well what I suggest is to avoid being 3 starred use a farming base so that other pushers can attack your th as well so instead of losing 21 trophies you lose only 7 but of course there will be times you will get 3 starred but at least this will lower that chance a great deal and also as soon as you hit crystal, look for abandoned bases where you can easily get 200-450k of each resource just to replenish your stock.

Just keep sniping townhalls and you'll be fine. Also don't waste a good shield for one attack. Try to play in stretches.
Why do you need to stay there 5 days?
I guess you need to be there at the end of the hunt. Why not time your hunt so you will be cristal at the end of the hunt?
Buy a 7 day shield
