Going to th10 - Pros and cons

So.. I finished my walls a few days ago.. And honestly, it was a big big mistake to do them and not def. I'm bored to death!
Without wanting it I've become a casual player attacking a few times a day! So.. I'm seriously thinking of going to th10 when my xbows are done (Will be in 22 days).

Cons : I will get wrecked every time I logg off?
Maybe it will suck so much that I lose interest in the game

Pros : will be funnier? Will be able to upgrade walls again! DE will be easier to get?
More army camp space

What do you th10ers think, would I survive with my prem th8 def? How bad is the loot for you?

Don't tell me to do heroes, they take time to upgrade as well.

The sensible thing would be to just work on your defences buddy.

Loot is easier to get whilst you're th9 but considering the rate at which you'll actually need to farm it at to keep builders busy I'd probably just go ahead and get myself to th10 and get them disco balls.

Personally I have found th10 much more fun than th9 and the loot isnt too bad.

Canons & Air Defense to go! (and walls and heroes ofcs).

I've made the to jump to TH10 without finishing my LVL 10 walls. I had about 85/250 completed at the time. Originally I was thinking of completing all of them, but I found it really unnecessary and boring. Farming and bullying TH8 and TH7s 40 times a day and raiding brainlessly for 200k/200k and buying 2 walls a day to the point where it was felt like a chore. My TH9 wasn't entirely maxed either with a few ADs and Teslas to do.

Most importantly, my Lab upgrades were already completely maxed (DE included). I decided to move to TH10 to better keep my LAB occupied and continued researching.

People asked me why I went to TH10, well boredom was one of them with farming. Secondly, when pushing I realized that offence was pretty much 95% of where you get trophies from. So I'm now not focusing on offence troop and farming DE as well as elixer to upgrade my Camps, and LAB troop research upgrades.

Loot is as bad as they say it is. Because of the loot penalty, TH8s are no longer a profitable raid (rare 250k/250k) but what kills farming is the NEXT button and the use of spells that drain Elixer. Elixer is now a limited resource for an Early TH10 and actually quite hard to gain. So farming armies like Giant Healer Archer Wiz combos are now 150K elixer armies along with 3-4 spells per raid, against well fortified TH9 or Premie TH10s making it a drain on your elixer stoage. Elixer gain is then relied on DE Armies (Hogs for example). DE is relatively easier to gain since the trophy range that you're now farming is relatively richer with DE, however, you're use of DE is higher usage as a TH10 it really just balances out. Stronger army building and the new reliance on Spells has significantly slowed my rate of attacks.

The biggest problem with TH10 upgrades is build time, I've become more of a casual player now while waiting for upgrades that range from 10-14 days to complete. And there's actually no point to keep one builder behind as you'll have a lot of upgrades to work through (overwhelming actually). So from 500 attacks a season to 200 attacks or so.

I mainly want to go to th10 so I can upgrade walls while upgrading defence. So I could raid constantly without getting filled with gold.

btw loot isnt that bad you just have to do it differently.

at th9 I think you can get by on pure volume of attacks where as th10 you have to think more about profit as well as volume.

dont get me wrong - there are days where you cant seem to make a bean but as long as you make sure you are raiding smart and making monies its no biggie.

Well, I've been that crazy farmer at TH9; averaging 6mil a day and 12m-15m on a good day.
I can barely do 4 mil a day now with less attacks (because of the rate of training), I've done 9 mil a day as a TH10 but it was very tough to do and over 14 hours of playing LOL. Ontop of that, the storage gain is a fraction of what the gold grab says. At 4 mil a day, I probably did a little over 3mil that actually went to my storages the rest goes to the NEXT button costs of searching.

So you can say, loot isn't so bad for TH10, but it is still much worst that what TH9 was.

I have found loot at TH10 very different to TH9 and somewhat depressing sometimes. I would normally say to people don't do it unless you have no interest in walls...

However having completed your lavas and now working on defence, which takes a huge amount of time rather than gold, I can completely understand your frustration... I had exactly the same situation at the end of th8 and it frustrated me hugely, so I feel your pain. To be honest I think you are a special case and i think you SHOULD do it! :) (But maybe this time do a few defences along the way :))

This is what I mean...

If you are struggling then just try and lower your actual minimum raid requirements and look at profit per troops used rather than the big raids.

If you can manage to take 50-100k from bases using minimal troops and nexting less you just might see your actual profits rise.

I know it sounds daft but just pressing next as little as you can and taking little and often can often be far better.

Wow all of a sudden you guys are convincing me to upgrade. I really want Disco balls to pimp out my base ;) But honestly the loot gets so bad! You can only raid TH9 or 10 and if they have money its in the storages. My base is missing 4 Archer Towers and 3 Air Defense. Also, my walls are really low and my lab is almost completely done. I have nothing relevant to upgrade in it anymore :( Is the loot penalty worth it?

The trick is to avoid the loot penalty. Just farm in c1 and up and you will only see th9/10. If you are active enough, two builders can be occupied with heroes at all times rather easily. The gold up there is very hit or miss, but usually I can make upwards of 500k per hr even on bad days using barch. As for going to th10, I would say its worth it if you have time to devote to playing. It not like th9 where you could pop in every 15 minutes or so and get an easy 200k, you must be willing to grind at the next button for a while to find a suitable base. But, when you do find a hit, it will usually be very good loot and there is a high loot bonus in c1 and up.

TH10 is going to be hard to get used to at the beginning as it's going to take some patience to get the same gold. It's not horrible though and you can still farm walls. I finished my legos at pretty much the same time I finished my TH9 defenses so I started my TH10 upgrade during the christmas boost. Then did as many lavas as I could in the 14 days of th upgrade. I just I couldn't stand the thought of idle builders and wanted Discos so I never had to worry about getting hogged :). I have 14 lavas left to do and have farmed about 540 mil since beginning of Jan.

The 2-3 days after maintenance are the worst for TH10s :p and will make you cry.

As a casual TH 9 thinking to move to TH 10... Is it easier to hold onto your loot having disco balls? Having maxed storages makes you a sitting duck for TH 10's or hogs based raids.. As a TH9
Getting hit for 300k @ 100% isn't fun :(

as for casuals it might work if you def more than attack...
it works too if you're on crystal league and above.

but if you're on gold league and attack much more than def, it's funny if you choose to sacrifice th8 loot to save 350K / day or twice a day.

this can turned to be worse too because you will give 400K now instead of 350K for the heavyweight players
