DE lightning loot solution

Now I know that many complaints have been written on the subject and I'm sure some of you will write telling me that I should have posted this on one of those threads. Go ahead, but as you know the last post always goes to the end of the thread not the beginning.

The main concern is that many drop lightning spells solely on the DE storage or drills taking a lot of DE, a resource that as we all know is hard to come by, unless you use real money.
Which is the reason why we all place storages in the center of our towns.
I belive that SC will not fix this in the way that it has been suggested, ie. via hidden tesla near the storage or drill to deflect said spell. (not a great idea as this will make all of us place a telsa near these structures taking away the creativity that the game provides), Nor will they raise the amount of DE a drill can produce as this will cut into their pocket.
My solution is to place a cap on the amount of DE any number of spells can loot. Let's say 50DE. No matter how many spells one drops the amount will always be 50DE. The troops you deploy will have to loot the rest available DE.
In the last 6 days I have been raided for over 3k DE via lightning spells and troops but mainly spells. It pisses me off as I can't revenge them successfully to regain the amount stolen. As the rules of the game stand, its part of the game and I'm not complaining as I will wait for the right time when I can regain that which has been stolen.
I think I can live with -50 DE as apposed to 600+ from just spells. This I think will deter some from dropping spells solely on DE and actually focus on troop placement as the means to loot towns, as the game was intended.
Dont get me wrong I love the spells and will continue to use them as part of my attack. I think they are usefull and fun to drop.
This is only a suggestion to one of the most recent complaints.
BTW it does not have to be 50DE it can be any amount. I picked 50 only because my lv3 drill procures 45DE an hour. An amount easily recovered.

I think they should just create a new trap called the Lightning Rod. Place it next to buildings that get targeted by Lightning Spells a lot (storages, mortars, air defense) and it will soak up a certain amount of lightning damage before it goes away and has to be replaced.

If someone uses lightning to take your de, just use lightning to take someone else's de. Lol.

I do like both ideas though, cap the resources that can be taken from spells( to be fair you'd have to cap it for gold and elixer as well) and a lightning rod. Put one into the roof of ur th. would look cool. Protects surrounding buildings, say 8-10 spaces around th from lightning.

They lowered the cooking time of spells specifically so that we can lightning those DE storages, didn't you guys know?

Seriously though, what level of storage do you have? I'm thinking of rushing my DE storage to lessen the DE's stolen using this tactic, of course I know if it's near full no matter the level, a lot can still be stolen but I have other ways to combat that when I have lots of DE, for now they sit comfortably with medium defense since my current focus is on regular Elixir.

Thats a level 2 storage, not level 3.

and for th8, we have up to level 4 to upgrade to, which has 500 more hit points compared to level 2.

According to my calculations..

You can steal 666 DE, which means he had 13,320 DE when you attacked him.

If he had a level 4 storage, your lightning will deal 390*3= 1,170 dmg
Level 4 storage = 1,700hp
Level 2 storage = 1,200hp

if you lightning a level 4 storage with lootable 666 de, you will obtain around 458 de
which saves us 208 de, as compared to level 2's 64 de.

which still sucks haha.

thats why i intend to stay at the high trophy region before i max out my de storage for th8.
before i go to 1200 region to test water.. if too much lightning strike, might have to go back up to high trophy region :/

It has actually been says since someone did a lightning drop on my DE storage. And I'm carrying a good amount.

I suspect that people are starting to realize that it's just not a good trade to throw down that much gold for 1-2k DE.

I also computed 13,320 DE but how did you get the 458 figure? Yeah still sucks considering the spell was just level 4. A level 5 would totally wipe a level 2 storage.

Hmm do we know if that's really the formula though? When I attack storages that are not full using troops I seem to remember not getting anything from the first attacks. Only until when the they reach a certain level of HP to I get the goods. Of course with lightning that doesn't seem to be the case or is it? I haven't and am not willing to waste it on an almost empty storage just to test it. Good job in getting 2/3 of the gold you used for the spells. :)

yup, de storage seems to work differently from gold/elixir storage.
only after you clear a certain amount of hp from the de storage, is when you can start looting the de out of the storage.

as said, its inaccurate.
Since according to this method with level 2 storage
(1170/1200)*666 = 649, means 17 left, but in actual fact, 49 de was left.

anyway, its not like every single lightning strikes exactly the same place, thats another factor of consideration as well.

so when I say (1170/1700)*666 = 458 de.
it means that you WILL loot less than 458.

I fully support the lightning rod idea as either a permanent building or as a 'trap'. Like the air bomb, I think it should be hidden until activated.

whos whining I'm just responding to a post and a question. Oh and to your efficient style I spend 0 on spells to get DE wher as u spend 80k gold. I use a army to get my De and it only cost me elixir and I always have plenty

and yes attacking DE wit lightning spell is a ♥♥♥♥♥ TACTIC no if ands or buts. Get some balls and learn a good strategy on how to use your troops to get it

No no I think your the type to attack with a high lol army but get smashed early on cus u don't know how to deploy them then in a fit of rage u bolt the DE before u quit, yep yep I think I summed it up lol

Not really. If a storage has 2 or 1 of elixir/gold, you will have to get the HP to 0 to get it.

If you are around 1200~1400 trophy range, with atleast 10k de in storage, thats not surprising.

DE wise, I'm reaching 15k DE, but so far only have 1 person who used double lightning on me for the past 4 days.

But yea, my storage is maxed level 4 for th8 :o

with the new update on its way and the dark elixir troops, I am afraid that DE lightning loot will increase and increase.

Well, it's not a huge issue for me. Yeah, I'm one of the people that get hit by lightning now and then, since I don't really have any big problems aquiring DE on my normal raids. It builds up over time and I don't worry about it a lot.

But I do think it's sloppy game design.

Cowardly, or not, I couldn't care less. BUT CoC is a strategy game, and should require strategy. I dislike features that a 3-year old could master. I want a game to require skill, not "a finger".

And you can't compare it to destroying a mortar. Most players that have used lightning spells on my DE storage would have huge difficulties with reaching my stores even if they take out a mortar first. So that's a rather crappy argument.

The main concern is that many drop lightning spells solely on the DE storage or drills taking a lot of DE, a resource that as we all know is hard to come by, unless you use real money.
Which is the reason why we all place storages in the center of our towns.
I belive that SC will not fix this in the way that it has been suggested, ie. via hidden tesla near the storage or drill to deflect said spell. (not a great idea as this will make all of us place a telsa near these structures taking away the creativity that the game provides), Nor will they raise the amount of DE a drill can produce as this will cut into their pocket.
My solution is to place a cap on the amount of DE any number of spells can loot. Let's say 50DE. No matter how many spells one drops the amount will always be 50DE. The troops you deploy will have to loot the rest available DE.
In the last 6 days I have been raided for over 3k DE via lightning spells and troops but mainly spells. It pisses me off as I can't revenge them successfully to regain the amount stolen. As the rules of the game stand, its part of the game and I'm not complaining as I will wait for the right time when I can regain that which has been stolen.
I think I can live with -50 DE as apposed to 600+ from just spells. This I think will deter some from dropping spells solely on DE and actually focus on troop placement as the means to loot towns, as the game was intended.
Dont get me wrong I love the spells and will continue to use them as part of my attack. I think they are usefull and fun to drop.
This is only a suggestion to one of the most recent complaints.
BTW it does not have to be 50DE it can be any amount. I picked 50 only because my lv3 drill procures 45DE an hour. An amount easily recovered.

OR....go above 2200 cups and no one in their right mind would hit you with lightning solely for dex. And those players have storages with upwards of 40, 50k +, so you can get it back if you invest in your attack.

Hmm, that comparison stumbles in so many ways. This is a computer game, remember? A *designed* world. Whatever happened to those poor people have no weight in this discussion. And it's not like any player "invented" lightning striking the DE storage, as I said in my previous post a 3-year old can do it.

Allthough you are right with high ratings saving you from lightning strikes, that's what I do myself when I need to save DE. From 18-1900 or so DE-strikes are very rare.

I'm waiting for my TH8 upgrade, and have a vat full of DE since my BK is already maxed. Surprisingly, no major issue with DE lightning so far, but that's probably partly due to the trophy range (1500-1600), and partly the fact that I usually get revenge attacked as soon as I log off - mostly from TH9 that can clean me up with just troops.

I had to go back to this thread because I got lightning struck for the first time after climbing to the 1500-1600 range and upgrading my DE storage to level 3. I had just a little over 11k DE when I slept and got attacked by 3 lvl4 lightning spells. He took 397, istead of the 550 or so. That's 150 DE saved, not much but I'll take it than nothing. Of course it'll have been less if the spell level was higher and that's why I won't stop at lvl3, I'll be upgrading my storage again to level 4 because any drop of DE saved is valuable especially now with the impending update. Unless of course its production increases substantially with the update as well, which needs to happen or else only gemmers will get anything off it.

The majority of the time people are dropping lightning on a revenge so revenge usually isn't an option. De storage upgrade is the only real option.

out of the last 13 times in my attack history this has been done only 2 were revengeable.

When I was a complete newb and really needed DE, I was also triple lightning DE storage. I stopped for two reasons - 1. Unless I can use it right away, it will be stolen from me as well 2. I rather use it on bases I can take gold, lexir and DE. Makes a whole lot more sense now.

I would much rather save up my spells and take some nice 200/200 base and walk away with much better loot. But that's just me.

200/200 loots from raiding is common, i mean seriously, if you are a farmer, you are suppose to be raiding atleast 2-3 times an hour, which should get you 400/400 or 600/600 per hour.

1,000 de as loot would mean that the person has 20,000 de in his storage.
However, after looting, will you have that much de in your storage ?

If not the person will usually don't bother revenging you.

Remember, De loot = 5% of storage.

1. As a farmer you should know that 200/200 bases often come with DE as well. So your math is off there. As TH9 i get a lot less loot and still manage to top off my 40k DE storage w/o using lightning spell. Per your own formula, 600/600 an hour should bring you 500 to 1000 DE as well.
2. Your argument about having less in DE tank is irrelevant. Amount of loot in storage varies, therefore you will always get to the point of being a target for having too much loot. Thus at some point someone will take 1k DE from you as well.
3. How does being half way TH8 has anything to do with the amount of DE in storage? This makes absolutely no sense. I was TH8 and had full tank as well. In fact, I've upgraded BK to level 5 without using gems.

I don't care if you agree or not, but I find your argument fallacious. Simple math (exchange of goods kind of math) - you trade large amount of gold that you use to buy spell for DE. I say trading 2 commodities such as elixir and very small amount of gold for large amount of gold, elixir and relatively large amount of DE is more lucrative. I digress.

I am a TH8, with only level 5 archers, the rest of the troops still at level 4, hence I am farming at 1100~1400 region with great success. And no, those bases do not have DE, even if they have, its low, and even if there are bases with 500,1000 de, those are really rare.
If you are TH9 at say 1700 region, then yes, we are talking about different things here.

My BK is at level 3, next upgrade is level 4 at 17.5k. Which means for these few days, I will not hit 20k DE. even if I hit 20k DE, I will spend it straight to get level 5 BK. So if I do not have 20k DE in my storage, nor am i saving for AQ(since i am th8 only), its impossible for people to loot 1,000 DE from me.

Don't you know higher hit point for storage = lesser DE to be lost from lightning strikes ?

Say both of us have 40k DE, which is 2,000 DE as loot.
Your storage level 3, my storage level 4
4x Level 4 Lightning Strike and your Storage of 2,000 DE is totally gone
However, my lv4 storage still has 140hp left, which means I won't lose all of my 2,000 DE to lightning

So I upgraded my BK from level 1 to lvl 4 in a week more or less while farming for gold in the sub200, I was in TH7 so no drill. Biggest DE I got there was from th9 on my revenge list who had like 33k in his storage, I got 2k. I used lightning of course, my all goblin army of lvl4 are no match for the strong defenses. In fact half of the DE I got there was probably from lightning, the other half from my gobs feeding off storages that were not well-guarded. i did not get robbed of 1k DE myself because that that would mean my lvl2 storage which is max for th7 is full. And of course before I even got that much I already had enough to upgrade my BK since level 4 only needs 17500. And I know where and how to 'hide' from attackers when down there. So while yeah I got lightning struck myself a couple of times, the most that was taken was around 600. And since I used them to upgrade my BK before I even gave the chance to attackers to steal a lot from me I got to where I'm at. So using lightning on DE's isn't useless and without merit if your goal is to get and upgrade BK. But that doesn't mean it's the best and easiest way either. It's just, the fastest when down there, and all you've got is an all green army. But now that I'm back up to the normal trophy count I usually stay at, and am now in th8 with a lvl2 drill, I'm able to get DE's on regular raids without really even aiming for it. I prefer it to using lightning, but I know that that's effective too at least for hero starters.
