Is is viable/worth it to push to Masters at TH8 for the gems?

Yes its worth it for the 5th builder, barch can get you 2100-2400 depending on skills patience etc. probs 2200-2300 L5 troops, then id say use balloons and minions (24-28 loons rest minions) and just find one of s.s videos (youtube TheClashMachine) they are mostly about balloonions
Yes. I BARCHed master at TH7 with boosted barb king and spells (rage).

I have 4 builders and they are all on break righ now because I have no more things to upgrade except 6.5M gold upgrades (and I'm on push anyway).
If you haven't needed 5 builders to get to th8, why do you think you need them for TH9?
You will spend gems just to get there because your troops aren't strong enough (you'll need more spells and your king every battle).
I say try it; there is a TH5 at Master's 1 so why not?

I've spent my entire CoC career BARCH farming, I hope it won't be too big of a jump to trophy pushing with it. I figure I could probably do a 80/88/8 barb/arch/wiz comp, for 31 minute training time, and then bring 1 lightning spell for CC or builder huts...Quote:

When I was Th8 I was not ready for what it took to get to masters. Getting those trophies requires a different mind-set than the farming your probably use to up that point. BARCH is the way to go, with 50% easy wins.
It took me to the end of Th9 to really "get" this strategy and I used loons. I'm a farmer at heart and it tends to limit me at times.
It's worth it, I've done it at th 6, even though it was a nighmare getting to masters, it was worth getting my 5th builder
