An Idea for the Fishing Areas!

New Fish Species in Hay Day! (And maybe freshwater clamming too!)

If you hover over the worm lure, you'll find that they call it a red lure in-game.

It would be my pleasure!

So the way I see it, clamming would work like this.... In the fishing area, in beside the tackle-box would be a pail. Just a little pail, which costs 5000 gold to fix (it has gotten rusty with disuse.). A player may click on this pail and go clamming in any fishing area. They simply drag the bucket over the area, and the screen ripples into a close up on the area. Clams, oysters, and mussels (all the freshwater variety of course would pop in and out of the area. (Like the fish before they bite.) One must drag the pail around the area (which is significantly larger due to the zoom-in) and try to fill it with as many shellfish as their pail can hold in a 30 second time limit.

Things to Note:

1. The fishing area one goes clamming in determines the difficulty of the clamming experience. For example, the shallow area by the fishing shak will be significantly easier (meaning shellfish pop up faster and stay available longer) than say, the area by the waterfall.

2. The clamming pail can be upgraded. At first, the pail holds five shellfish. Using bolts, screws, and wood panels, the pail can be upgraded to hold more shellfish at a time. (In increments of 3-5 based on feedback).

3. After clamming two times, there is an hour and a half cool-down time on the pail as well as any fishing area cool-down times a player may have accumulated.

That's about it! Whatcha think?

You guys asked me to outline clamming, and then don't give me feedback..... I kinda need feedback guys!!!

A clamming pole is actually a pretty cool idea. Not sure I'd go with the implementation you suggest, I'd probably instead go with clam nets being produced in the net maker and then clams prepared in the lobster pool along with lobsters - but that's a detail. You'd use clam nets to scrabe of clams from the pole.

I like the clam idea much more than more fish - imo. we don't really need more fish, but that's just a personal preference. If one wanted to add new fish, however, a fish that bites gold + red lures is an absolutely horrible idea. Losing a golden lure to a fish that can be caught with a "cheap" lure like green is already painful enough (think (C)rudd), losing it to one that could be caught with an actual free lure (red) would be devastating.

Ahh, but could you catch a big one with a red lure? Also, this adds a little, "big risk, BIG rewards" spice to the fishing. I like your idea for the clamming too. It'd be far simpler to implement.

i like the idea however...at my level I am having a hard time keeping up with fish and lobster. First of all it takes so long to make the nets that adding anything else to be produced in the net maker would be completely fatal. FYI i have every fishing hole open, use lures, nets and lobster traps. I have upgraded my lobster pool to hold 5 but it was a poor choice to do so because I cannot make enough traps to even hold that many if I also want to make nets.

Again, good idea in theory but there is no room for clams as I can not keep up with lobster & fish.

Ps I love the idea of being able to decorate the fishing area

Remembering that the Hay Day philosophy is "do no harm", how would your clamming idea work so that the shellfish are not killed? The fish lose a fillet and still live, the lobsters can lose a tail and live, (although I admit that is a huge suspension of reality, or leap of faith, that they can - but then I've bought into the whole Walking Dead premise, so fish fillets and lobster tails regenerating is pretty minor), but how do you envisage shellfish surviving, or do we just throw them back after catching them?

Except there would be no "big reward" in this equation, because catching this fish with the gold lure would ALWAYS be a big disaster. And yes, if a fish bites a lure, you can catch all sizes of the fish with that lure; you can catch gold weight even with the smaller lure, the size of the lure on the picture supposedly refers to how likely the fish is to bite the lure (big picture = bigger likelyhood of getting it to bite).

I also had an idea about putting clams in fishing area. :)

The regular clams would give meat (for clam chowder in soup machine)
And the special shiny ones would have a pearl (for jewellery)

Maybe use lobster traps to catch the clams.

Shellfish cannot live without their shells, so empty shells would not bode well for the creature inside. Imagine all those little clam eyes looking at you sorrowfully. :( Are you able to propose a way for them to not to die when harvested?

I'm not sure anyone could. Can you think of an idea? If you want it in-game, you may have to live with throwing the shells back in the water and letting the meat regenerate from there. Somehow, I think you'll get past it, as you seem to have forgotten how unrealistic the pig and lobster animations are.

If the magic swirly thing can trim off a fish fillet without killing the fish, then the clams can be catch-and-release too, by the same magic.

I do like this clam idea, and the way of catching them (with the bucket) is nice, it is different from lure fishing and lobster trapping.

I have said in the past that it would be nice to have more fishing areas and more fishing options, such as shrimp, scallops, and crabs. That would open options for new achievements and a lot of new products. Downside would of course be that it would make the game more complicated, so the trick is implementing it in an interesting way.

i love love this idea! Hope it's implemented soon, esp with the pearl idea. I think that should be the only reason to have to use a gold lure, IMO. And having a bucket is super, freeing up the net maker and adding another method of fishing.

and, just as the fish and lobsters survive, so do the pigs, so, I think the clams will be ok :)

i also like like the eel, shrimps, and crabs idea, as well as decorating the area....not so much more fish.
