Why does SC hate Valkyries!!!! MAX Hog Rider costs less than LEVEL 1 Valkyrie!!!

Today I am overflowing with DE and all of my builders are too busy so I thought of using all Valkyrie army. Then I noticed a level 1 Valkyrie costs 70 DE while level 5 Hog Rider costs 65 DE. I couldn't believe the cost difference, obviously this is one of the reason why many (if not all) people opt to use Hog Rider instead. I knew Valkyrie took considerably long time to train compared to Hog Riders, but I never realised there was a big gap in cost.

Level 5 Hog Rider
Costs - 65 DE
Housing Space - 5
Training Time - 2min

Level 1 Valkyrie
Costs - 70 DE
Housing Space - 8
Training Time - 15min

If you had the option to choose between level 1 Valkyrie or level 5 Hog Rider, people will undoubtedly choose to train Hog Rider. I don't understand why SC made Valkyrie completely unworkable. They are the most useless troops ever, even if SC matches Valkyries stats (Housing Space, Training Time and Costs) with Hog Riders, they will be used more but will be used less than Hog Rider. I believe (imo) they should be the second Dark Elixir troops instead of being the third, they are not useful in any trophy range and their unique ability is nothing compared to Hog Riders. I for one, believe SC made a mistake here, everything about this troop is just wrong.

lol wow, didn't even notice before.... That's kinda messed up but I see a boost for Valks in the near future.... :rolleyes:

well.. i would choose Hog5 because of the lvl.. not because of the cost.

you have to compare apples to oranges.. all stats.

Funny how SuperCell either knows or doesn't know about this.
But obviously, they're a little dumb either way.

If you're comparing troops just by cost you would have to look at cost per unit which makes lvl 1 valks cheaper than lvl 5 hog riders. Valkyries are just weird as a troop and don't really fit into their own army comp however.

The only reason (until now ) for valkyrie's existence is so you must build lvl 4 dark barrack to get golem. She is not there to be used.

It's because of her former occupation as a stripper.....she wants to be well compensated!

the prob with Valks isn't their cost, it's just them - they're not impressive as a troop. I got attacked yesterday with 30 max valks + a variety of spells (5) and they did just awful...we had fun watching the replay, but it doesn't inspire anyone to seriously play with them, at least not for TH10s/master league...maybe they work better against TH8/9 but there's def better ways to spend your DE at those TH levels too.

While you are right that valkyries are underused, I would like to point out that a level 5 hog rider also costs less than both a level 1 golem and a level 1 witch, and golems and witches are both used extensively. By your logic, nobody would use giants (just use archers or barbs, they're both cheaper at max level than giants are at level 1), wall breakers, balloons, wizards, dragons, etc. Just because a unit is cheaper in absolute terms doesn't mean it's better.

A level 1 golem costs 450 DE. Not sure where you are finding golems that cost less than a level 5 hog rider. Witches cost more then any level hog rider as well.

What is this "Valkyrie" thing everybody is talking about?

Guys, if used properly Valkyries are actually really powerful. SC has been boosting Valks forever and NOBODY uses them! Check the most recent updates. Almost every single update for the past 3-4 months had something with Valks. Increased power, increased health, increased this and increased that. Valks gotta be shown the love <3:cool: All jokes aside, I have actually used an army of Valkyries in Masters league. I got a two-star on a TH10 with Infernoes and the whole lot. Valks have LOADS of health in case you haven't noticed. The Valkyrie can tank for your troops, they are like faster and stronger Giants that go for any target. I like Valkyries and think you guys should give them a try ;) You might be impressed.

The real problem with Valkyries is they have no purpose.

Minions are flying damage troops.
Hog riders target defenses and jump walls.
Golems are the ultimate hp shield.
Witches are good against heroes and do decent damage.

Valkyrie???? It has no purpose. Kinda like Pekkas really have no purpose either.

That's not the point... Everyone uses golems in high level gameplay... every dark troop is used.. EXCEPT FOR THE VALK...

You seem to have misread what I wrote.

I have used a few valk/barb/archer raids it works extreamly well since valk lvl 4 are little wreaking balls and barbs/archers clear up fast also the hp on valk is 1200 maxed so they can take a few hits only problem i have with them is the fact they youse 8 spaces and 15 min buildtime which 1 spring trap blows out the water which stops me using them in cup pushes

im pretty sure they might do a couple stat boosts, but that's it. a few people are starting to realize how good they are when u use 'em right. its like how it is for balloons. people used to think they were the stupidest and most useless troop in the game. but people realized how they were good, and they became a lot more popular, and SC didn't even touched them, they just reduced their training time from 10 mins to 8 mins! now look, theres even a strategy with balloons! by the current look of valks, im pretty sure it'll be a similar story

We realize that she is none too popular, and we'll likely continue to adjust troop costs and other statistic moving forward, her's included.

We have no specific changes in mind at this point but we always like to keep things as balanced as possible

LOL! that sucks, 15mins for a Valk and one spring trap sends her off? I did not know this!

If you make her target xbows and infernos or something along those lines, I'm sure people will start using her. Right now, she's not that different from a mini-PEKKA. Except, more expensive (since it's DE), less HP and has a tiny splash damage range.

Thanks, Steve! That's great to hear. Just started upgrading her (saved her for last for obvious reasons) so I can't wait to try her out after the next update or two!

This is true... I feel like valks need to gain a unique use or primary target because simply improving her stats won't give her a unique purpose from other troops IMO.

Given a bit more thought, perhaps make her whirlwind an ability that can hit air units as well(on levels 3-4) , a slightly larger splash damage radius making her a formidable CC defense troop and since she's so expensive, make her a bit larger graphically(I mean she's a really tiny little thing running around) and immune to spring traps.

Perhaps also working on a different AI, one that's a bit smarter around walls. She's a great wallbreaker, so I would think that should would resist walking around walls so much and potentially going straight to the nearest building with walls or no walls (unless there is already a hole).

Valks are just there to make the barbs their sammiches.

I do actually have a thread with an modification to the Valkyrie. I think you guys would happily like it.

15 minute build time is just way to long, i dont mind the valkyrie but the splash damage is useless in attack and you need 5 or 6 of them to be really effective which takes an hour and a half. If I want a tank I may as well make giants in a snip of the time and cost.

If they cut the build time of valks to 5 minutes and the housing space to 5, I would start using them. My main complaint is the training time. Mine are at level 2 with no plans to upgrade I them until I am out of things to upgrade with dark.

I have maxed pretty much all my troops now; however my valkyries remain stuck on lvl 1 and i have no plans to do any upgrades on her until i have fully maxed the last few upgrades i have left to do.

That said i would love to be able to use her as i actually think she looks pretty cool! Main reasons why i havent bothered to use her in my attack strategies let alone invest in upgrading her are all down to cost, time to cook and the fact she takes up 8 army camp spaces. I just cant justify cooking her when there are so many other troops out there that will do a similar job to her just cheaper and in half the time!

Translation: We are gonna increase the cost of all the other troops, that way Valks will be "cheaper"

Even then no one would use valks. Thing is, all other dark troops allow player to earn more dark elixir while valks just there to siphon all the dark from your village.
