to clarify a bit, I seem to not have made myself clear.
Dark Elixir ist not a problem, I can get enough. I don't even focus on de but I farm it to good amounts while farming gold.
I also don't doubt the heroes get much stronger in higher levels.
Gems to boost them is also no problem. I gem-boost a lot.
Still, the regeneration time even if boosted is very long for high level heroes.
So that I could only use them every couple of raids even when boosted.
While I can now use them pretty much every raid, which is preferrable in some ways.
Seems better to have them every raid on a lower level than to have them only sometimes, even if they then are much stronger.
I am still not convinced it makes sense to get them beyond level 10 for me.
if they are higher lvled that means that they destroy defenses faster so they get less damage shortening the regen timeQuote:

If ur target became champ, ill recommend u asap lvling ur Hero, with the current update hero given ability sure comes n handy in every battle
The regeneration time does not bother me, the fact that they are unavailable for 7 days all the time does.
We have these awesome heroes, yet they are unavailable like 80% of the time for me. It is a joke to invest so much into something to barely ever get to use it.
Such a dumb concept of not been able to use them upgrading...
We can use other troops while upgrading them in the lab...

The tradeoff between high and low level heroes is pretty clear: higher level heroes can take on stronger bases but can be used less; lower level heroes can be used more, but their stats are comparable to a regular unit.
If you're never going to pursue higher trophy levels, your low level heroes will do fine against weak th8 and 9s. They'll become irrelevant when facing stronger bases though. The decision is up to you

I have a level 16 BK and 15 AQ, I am a Th10 now
I strongly recommend leveling heros, because they become vital when you get Th10 and want to raid in masters and above.
Its true that regeneration time becomes a pain but more often than not I am using them for clean-up and if I am careful I only need them to get that last 1-5%. The queen, in particular, excels at this. Since high level heros can do allot of damage in a hurry this is vital.
At some point, your going to want to push. Sure it may take ages before you hit the top of the Th levels but chances are those heros won't be vital to your farming compositions anyway.
