Sad?

Like people have said, it is entertainment. People gamble money away, buy 100$ bottles of liquor, and all sorts of pointless things. I'm not sure why people care how others choose to enjoy their life.

Without people spending ¥€¢£ on this game you wouldn't be playing it! Full stop. I've not spent anything but thank those who do while understanding why they do it. I'm a cinema nerd and spend $50-$100 month at the movies, some say that's a waste but it's what I enjoy. CoC fills that role for others.

If you can afford it why not?
I don't spend a lot of gems - maybe once in a while I'll purchase the bag of gems if I want to speed up a construction.

I see it as consuming one less cup of coffee in return for immediate satisfaction with my new upgraded building/unit ;)

Think of it this way: people trade money for entertainment. If spending hours and hours on one 1 thing is entertaining for you, good. To others? maybe not. People can spend however the hell they want, as long as they're happy with it and can take full responsibility for their action (aka adults).

Also, keep in mind that those people help keeping this game afloat, so that you guys can stay here and brag about how awesome you're.

People have their rights, its their money that they earned hopefully...they shall spend it however they wish.

Listen to him/her.

To each their own. No one's twisting anyone's arm into buying gems. If you have the means, there is absolutely no reason why anyone should stop a player from buying gems since they are spending their own money with their own consent.

Different people play this game in different ways - some play it patiently by investing time, some play it by investing money.

In case you are wondering I belong to the former category although I have boosted Spell Factory and Barracks while pushing a few times. But I feel the hate against Gem users is incredibly immature and it should stop.
