i have 2d 20h before my th is done to th9. 3 builders will be available at that time, i have max gold and max elixir atm (6m each) and hoping to make my collectors have max gold and elixir in. how should i do this? should i go sub-200 or would it be worth an investment into a shield?

I think going to sub 200 wouldn't work because there are a lot of farmers down there as well. Perhaps drop to 800-1000 trophy range and try to protect both the collectors and storages? :)
i say use up all your resources before some good-for-nothing thief comes and steals most of your goods. if you dont have anything to upgrade because your waiting for more doors to open up once your town hall 9 is done, then you better enhance that defense before maxed out troops come knocking down your walls. as for the trophy range, i dont think your safe in any ocean, so brace yourself for the worst.
Clearly if you for some reason want full collectors buy a shield. That is just silly though. Sitting behind a shield isn't fun, raiding is. Spend those gems to boost and raid for resources. Don't try to sit on a bunch of loot it's just silly.

Sorry should've been mo clear. Save the gems to raid when you have room for loot. You'll come out ahead of buying a shield and it will be mo fun. However if u want full collectors for the sake of having full collectors, shield.
I would not buy a shield. If you have max storages you can sit on collectors with a decent base and th outside and still make a profit.
However... this is not the approach I would take. What I would do is switch to raiding for trophies. You can go up to crystal 2 with th sniping only and very minimal effort. Then as you start spending your resources I would switch to pure goblin raiding. You don't need to raid anything fancy. See some collectors outside? Throw a few goblins, get some easy loot, and drop trophies.
It's an incredibly easy way to gain resources. It also has the added benefit of letting you see some of the bases in trophy ranges above what you farm at, so you get a rough idea of where you should be when you go up to that next th level.

Exactly because you are maxed with maxed storages, and you want max collectors so you can have the most amount of loot possible for townhall 9. This is why I recommended trophy range of 800-1000 while also defending both the collectors and the storages, because people in that trophy range are weak. If you go too low, like sub 200, there are actually a lot of strong farmers down there.Quote:

I am finding good loot around low 1700's or high 1600s.
I have backed up my collectors at TH 8 TH 9 and TH 10.. takes 2 days to back them up to full. Easiest way is to buy a 2 day shield. If you go sub 200 your collectors will get raped.
I would say have fun and do some expensive troops builds to play around and experiment with. That would give you something to do and give you a reason to famr more loot. It will make your wait time go by so much faster. Don't stress yourself about full collectors.
I was in the same situation a couple of weeks ago (maxed strgs and wanting to fill collectors... going to th9) and I bought a 7d shield, because my strgs were already full I didn't want to risk it to let anybody steal it... and 150 gems isn't much right?! I think it's better to buy a 2d shield (but be sure you buy it when your th is ready in LESS then 2days). IF you don't buy the shield I'm sure you'll worry every second you log off 'oh I hope nobody attacks me!',... it can happen at any trophy count.
and as a last thing I would like to say that it's a nice feeling that you can relax for 2d and donate whatever you want... it's chill :)

Well..you could also turn into a unit factory for your clanmates.
This is a thing our clan does. When someone is in a situation like this (waiting for a th upgrade, being maxed, all builders busy), they say "FREE WIZARDS!" and just donate wizards to everyone. Or dragons or anything else, for that matter.
It is both fun and productive.
As for the gold...collectors can hold a lot of space and the attacker can only steal 50% (plus TH balance) out of them. Just let it stockpile.
I would suggest buying a shield. There's a lot of farmers under 200 would would love to find your base.
if you want to buy a shield you could also just buy the gems to get the upgrade completed, idk that it helps with maxing collectors, but it gets builders to work :) The problem is that with max storage and full collectors you are a prime target, so if you really want to fill the collectors the shield seems to be your only option.
Also, put your TH outside to get a free shield. I was in Gold III - II range and didn't lose much...lower than that shouldn't hurt either. You should be ok with your collectors and a small raid here and thereQuote:

Full collectors just have 900k in there, you can farm much more using 150gems or the time you loose to get back to your league if youcre going to hide.
