i have 2d 20h before my th is done to th9. 3 builders will be available at that time, i have max gold and max elixir atm (6m each) and hoping to make my collectors have max gold and elixir in. how should i do this? should i go sub-200 or would it be worth an investment into a shield?

I think going to sub 200 wouldn't work because there are a lot of farmers down there as well. Perhaps drop to 800-1000 trophy range and try to protect both the collectors and storages? :)
i say use up all your resources before some good-for-nothing thief comes and steals most of your goods. if you dont have anything to upgrade because your waiting for more doors to open up once your town hall 9 is done, then you better enhance that defense before maxed out troops come knocking down your walls. as for the trophy range, i dont think your safe in any ocean, so brace yourself for the worst.
Clearly if you for some reason want full collectors buy a shield. That is just silly though. Sitting behind a shield isn't fun, raiding is. Spend those gems to boost and raid for resources. Don't try to sit on a bunch of loot it's just silly.

Sorry should've been mo clear. Save the gems to raid when you have room for loot. You'll come out ahead of buying a shield and it will be mo fun. However if u want full collectors for the sake of having full collectors, shield.
I would not buy a shield. If you have max storages you can sit on collectors with a decent base and th outside and still make a profit.
However... this is not the approach I would take. What I would do is switch to raiding for trophies. You can go up to crystal 2 with th sniping only and very minimal effort. Then as you start spending your resources I would switch to pure goblin raiding. You don't need to raid anything fancy. See some collectors outside? Throw a few goblins, get some easy loot, and drop trophies.
It's an incredibly easy way to gain resources. It also has the added benefit of letting you see some of the bases in trophy ranges above what you farm at, so you get a rough idea of where you should be when you go up to that next th level.
