Xbows is way overrated... They are useless if your other def s*cks. Xbows is great for killing troops with small hp left, when they are already badly injured by splash or cannons. Xbows will finish them quickly, but against high hp troops like giants or BK, it will be useless and shooting like forever.
When you save to get those things, You pile up gold, you get farmed and in the end you got useless things...
To recover from a premie, you need to attack people... Not to defend...
So, you should upgrade your offence first.
Lab, SF, army camps is your priority.

Moreover, x-bow is one of the only two kind of tower that need to constantly filled with resource. Until you get a way to steadily fill your elixir storage and elixir is no longer a problem, x-bow will become part of your problems instead of the solution.
I've seen far too many sad case of premmie TH 9 with empty x-bows, which is worse than nothing. Just remember that anyone can get achievement by farming x-bows. So it actually acts more as attractant to your village instead of repellant.
Myself, I didn't even make x-bows for a month after upgrading to TH 9 and level up all my farming army to lvl 6 (barbar, giants, archers).
