Extra building outside walls

Hey guys, is it better to leave the extra building that don't need protection such as barracks, army camps etc close to the walls so that they are hugging them or further apart. I'm currently farming if that makes any difference.

I always assumed its better to leave close hugging the walls so that while archers or barbs are attacking them, my defenses can start to work on them, in other words they can work as semi-tanks to distract enemy troops. Off course there might an advantage to leave them far away but not what those are if any...

I feel like there are separate arguments for this. Usually I think it's better to have them closer to the wall. The extra buildings create a buffer so while they attack those extra buildings your archer towers and cannons can pick off some of the troops before they can penetrate your main base. If the extra buildings are too far away it will run the timer out but so much that it is even worth putting it that far and not picking off those troops attacking the buffer. They will just pick off outer defenses with 1 or 2 archers and then mass deploy troops onto your main base.

Put it it close enough for your first line of defense to start attacking before they even reach your walls. Assuming they don't just deploy Hogs on your base

same plus, it makes the attack a bit harder.

It's a matter of preference I think. There's no definitive better or worse practice.

If they're farther out, it also causes the enemy to have to release their troops from further out. Some people find this beneficial, and it gives more time for your point defenses to pick off wallbreakers.

It can also depend on what base design you use. Just experiment with both configurations and let the results decide.

When I put my heroes close to the center I put my buildings far out so that they are harder to lure. My cc is unlurable from outside the walls.
When my heroes are far out then I put the buildings closer to the walls to prevent easy lure points.
