[POLL] Do you feel the game is broken?

Im not someone who is prone to rants and raves on here, i like to think that i try and give a balanced view whenever possible.

However im seriously beginning to feel my patience is well and truly being tested.

For many months we have seen discussion after discussion regarding terrible loot, a broken trophy system, players reverting to 3rd party tools to essentially gain an advantage.

We have seen the forum turn from anti-gemming to pro gemming.

I have tried to stay out of the loot discussions due to the fact ive spent the last 2 months predominantly farming DE. However recently i decided to max my lightning spell to lv6. And boy oh boy was i shocked by the terrible state of the loot being offered in match making.

Literally just finished a battle, i spent well over 300k gold looking for an elix hit over 250k, during that time i encountered 4... Yes 4 bases that exceeded that number, however the was no way i could take on those bases with barch and no spells.

i eventually settled on a base for 245k elix. Unsurprisingly i returned with less gold than i commenced with.

Supercell .. Like it or not your game feels broken.

So the poll is straightforward enough, are you like me, feeling that this game (that we all love) is broken?

Your reasons may differ from mine but id still like to hear about them, or you may feel its is fine and dandy.

Lets have an intelligent discussions even if theres a difference of opinion

While I will admit that the game can be frustrating at times, I don't think it's broken.

If and when a th11 is released, it should help you th10 guys.

But tbh, the game is just as fun for me now as it was a year ago when I started.

Pro gemmers? Really? Have you seen what farmers have done nowadays? If you don't like loot then adjust your range, and the game isn't broken.

I see thread after thread where farmers are boosting barracks and SF so yeah pro-gemming.

And what range would you suggest ?

Supercell its trying to get us to lean towards more costly and time consuming troops in hopes we gem them, Thats why the game favours defense unless your up in champions league with maxed out heros.

Thats always been the case, however i think more recently they have actually found a way to get farmers to gem.

Lol we even had a debate in clan chat were someone was adamant when he boosts barracks and SF he is offered better match-ups.

no disrespect intended to anyone here but all that suggests is that they spend a huge amount of effort in game to achieve those things.. My base is maxed purely by farming i think thats a very satisfactory achievement!

If you maxed out your base with farming then why would you feel this game is broken? You did a great achievement without paying, but with hardcore farming. If I did that then I would feel very happy, and I wouldn't complain. You really should feel that this game is good if you are maxed, by maxed do you mean defenses or every single thing?

AQ is lv 28 going to 29 / BK is 20 going to 20... About 70 lv 10s..

And to be clear ... I said it FEELS broken.. Not that i think it is broken ... With time searching i know the bases are there but the time it now takes to find those "worth while" raids seems exponentially greater than ever before

Voted "no," not because I think the game is free of massive flaws, but because from your first post you made it sound like you were explicitly complaining about recent loot/forum issues. I have no complaints (or praise) for the most recent updates or state of the forum.

Then whats the problem??? You say you have max defense, and your upgrading your heroes, and they are pretty High level. You Sound like you don't have a problem. Cant you decide how you feel?????

If it feels broken then you should take a break from it. Sometimes you just get tired of the game, and taking a break would be a good thing to do. I think you are one of those people that goes on Clash of Clans every day for very long time, and if you do then I'm jealous :p I wish I can lol, but I would feel it's broken a bit too. If you are doing that, then try to see what it feels like by taking a day break... after that you can adjust your range to a much higher, or try something new. Speaking or range... what range are you at?

Realistically, it's the only one that matters. As long as people are willing to pay, SC has no reason to rock the boat. Only once gem sales start to drop will SC have any incentive to improve these things.

Also consider that you state that you farmed your whole base. What reason does SC have to make the game better for you? You are not their target demographic.

It will never be broken from their perspective. If people would bother to check their privacy policy they would see that they are opting in to advertising - I am guessing this is how Supercell is making the majority of their money nowadays.

A lot of companies are using games/apps to get people to opt-in to allowing complete access to search history/keystrokes.

Lol thank you, i wear my heart on my sleeve.. As i said i had stayed out of the "poor loot" debates because i was not looking for any resource other than DE. DE farming is very good... But it gets very boring for me. And as soon as i switched resource i realised the landscape had altered dramatically since when i was last there.

this game is screwed.

for my Th. 7 i can make a profit. but my th 8 i costs more to find good loot than the amount of loot i am getting from the raid.
so i do think the game is broken my.
th 7 i have been able to almost max in 2 weeks only got teslas and walls and de upgrades left
th 8 i have been on for 6 month and i am still awhile from maxing it.

on my th 8 i only go on every 2 day to get my loot from my collectors and do a raid for fun. keep those lv 11 gold mine behind those walls.

the game is broken because:
there is not a lot of fun.
loot is okay
there needs to be more single player missions.

I hit th10 during the xmas collector boosts and everything seemed rosey.
Since then the loot is still there but takes so long to find the fun element of the game missing.
Everyone knows extra collector levels will improve the situation but I seems its not going to happen.

A new breed of farmer has been unleashed on the game, however the words of caution i give to these players are.. Slow down you do not want to be where i find myself nowadays.

But this discussion is gravitating towards loot, which i know was my my point, but im interested in hearing from other areas such as trophy hunting and if they feel the game has altered to the point of being broken.

I noticed we seem to have quite a few more Trophy hunters around nowadays so come on people .. Open up and share those feelings

The time bug is still around, so the game has been broken since it was created. The lack of gold in the economy just throws salt in the wound. I still love clash but I feel you on saying patience is wearing a bit thin. I just don't understand how the time bug is still there costing every player hours to days to weeks depending on how long they've been playing. This is a multibillion dollar company with upwards of 30 million customers flat-out refusing to fix a flaw in their product.

No instead they give us a way to spend real money on the game in the vain hope the boosting will improve our overall loot intake. Which to be fair it probably will for those that use it. having your hero on standby 3/4 times more often has to help.

I also should point out that my base was maxed on the "old" 200k capped loot system. This is the first time i have had to endure the new system for resource other than DE, and that resource seems to be largely unaffected by the new loot system.

TH10 cannot be described as "fun" i dread TH11 if thats on the horizon i seriously cannot see anyone who isn't a trophy hunter going to it unless they get 15 new collector levels and 6 new DE Drills

The demographic comment was for dahimi. Who said i was not the target audience for SC so they care not about me. Which is true.

The definition of a farmer used to be someone who did not use gems to do anything except (which i think was the considered acceptable) buying builders and speeding up upgrades when you had farmed to max storage.

I've been doing ok lately at lower cups, gave master league farming the flick once it became too popular. It definitely takes a lot longer to find a raid though since the loot change. It's lost the quick play element it used to have. I can no longer have a quick 5 minute session because it takes longer than that to find a base worth raiding. Steve said they were happy with how things are, it all looks good on their stats apparently even the amount of nexting we are doing so I guess this is the game now.

That is a shame to hear. (not that your doing ok :p) the bit that they think its acceptable.

For a company as successful as SC have become its a pity they pay more heed to the stats than the experience that their players are expressing.

It is interesting to see how the poll has fluctuated. A hour ago the 'NO's were way out in front, hows that for a stat?

I agree that gemmers are their target demographic, but lately "farmers" like icarus have been gemming like crazy too.
They still make money but does that mean the game is fantastic? No.

You're farming in gold 1, what do you expect? Move on up to where you belong Mr Maxed TH10. Farm in the master leagues, where the loot bonus helps too. Getting an extra 90k gold for winning a raid, also not having to skip more than 20-30 bases. All helps. In gold, you are going to find you will have to skip through a million bases to get loot.

The game is not broken, you just need to adjust. My advice to you for the next week would be this:

- Move up to masters 3-2.
- Use longer cooked troops to hit those filled storages.

If that fails, well what have you lost?

Farming in gold league where there is literally thousands upon thousands of other farmers, TH7/8/9/10's, and terrible loot bonus... Think about it....

Loot wise... There are good days and bad days as I have experienced, but some days, I go from 1400-2200 in search of loot, and there is nothing. I do agree with you Bill, that something needs to be done regarding loot.

Lets be fair here, i boosted barracks and SF recently. Only the once. However the gems were all sourced locally ( from trees and shrubs )

i worked out that i can probably do that once every couple of weeks just from pruning my bushes.

im not anti-gemming. I think the builders were virtually impossible to get from achievement alone when i started so it was a great investment, based on how much ive played.

And i have also spent on gems to speed up Builders.

But even in my clan, which a year back would have been considered a genuine farming clan, some people are boosting, but i think this is more about trying to find some enjoyment in the game (speed farming) as opposed to anything else.

I never boost barracks, and I have 3 builders I earned legitimately. But I'm TH8 so my opinions mean nothing...

Firstly i will never use longer cook times to farm... Im stubborn that way. Nor to trophy hunt. I could hog i suppose, loads of juicy TH9 up there.

I do farm in masters down to Crystal when i am DE farming, however, im not DE farming this minute. And as a farmer i always work to the philosophy that i need to be efficient. hence if im looking for elix im not using spells, and im going to use low based elix troops.. Which has always been possible.. Until now it seems.

All im saying is the landscape has changed quite a lot since i last needed to farm anything other than DE and it FEELS broken to me.

I wouldn't say it's broke.

There is definitely a shift at TH9 / TH10 where you have to give up on easy loot with tier 1 troops. For me it's just not consistent enough, plus I'm actually bored of that style of play after a year.

Supercell have me completely hooked and the only way i can enjoy the game now is with boosted Spell Factory, possibly 1 normal barrack and Heroes should they die. Therefore I give them 10 to 30 gems per day to enjoy some raiding.

Seems like its pay to play for me now. Hopefully this gem box will help a bit, but i doubt it.

Agreed on that it feels broken. I have been all over looking for loot. Was at 0 for the last 2 days. Turned out not bad on one of the days, found tons of th10's with no walls, maybe one or two def and maxed, half full storages haha. Then the next day found nothing. Have also tried every range up to master 2. Everywhere is just so inconsistent and requires some serious nexting.

I had similar day yesterday, my clan can set their clocks by the time i log on/off, but last night i got home from work, did some family stuff then sat down to raid. I did one raid then Logged out, cant remember the last time i did that.

Yeah I'm mostly hoping for clan wars. Regardless I'm probably cutting down my playtime. And no, I will not resort to boosting stuff. I pay some, maybe I've paid $400 in total in my 16 months. That's fine. But I wont do it consistently for just everyday farming. No way.

I understand this point of view, im a firm believer in the league system and what it could offer. I think the league is totally under utilised in the game currently.

In my OP i said i spent 300k searching for a raid.. I was at 1900(ish) in that time only 4 offered over 200k.

Harrisman ( i think it was) was possibly right... What i should be doing is barching and taking the league bonus for 50% this would possibly be a better way to farm the resource i need. and if the league bonus was better that would defintely be an option

To me it's a form of entertainment. I pay for plenty of other entertainment and at $0.00 to $0.30 per time i play i honestly dont mind.

Sure, I can play for free but that means boring myself silly pounding on bases 20+ levels below me and frustrating myself hitting next.

It's hard to explain but even as a TH9 i much preferred hanging out in Masters III for 3 months attacking and farming stronger TH10 bases, rather than endlessly Barching or BAMing low levels. I'm not looking to farm level 10 walls, so just after enough to move my base along and have some challenging fun doing it.

Absolutely, i would never say how anyone plays the game is wrong. You hit it on the head... Its about enjoying the game however you can find that enjoyment. That for me is the key criteria.

When i say it feels broken.. Its really difficult to express.

For me this game is, has always will be about being able to raid quickly, after all it is a mobile game. Fast troops builds, tidy loot. Not easy loot. Im not a fan of collector raiding. I love seeing a good swarm of barbs and arcs ( and even a well placed giant bomb destroying 50% of that swarm)

For me the day i cant use tier 1 troops to make a reasonable profit, within a reasonable time is the day this game becomes "broken". Thats what appealed to me with this game. And thats why im a terrible trophy hunter.

Personally I cant wait to get this damn elix and get back to DE farming.

Loot has been bad lately, and it is absolutely terrible right now. I really dont even feel like logging in and playing. Whats the point? Base after base offering nothing over 50K gold. The base you do see offering good loot is almost always a near max th10.

Wish I did not have 2 infernos, mortar and wiz tower upgrading right now. I would go up to masters and just farm using the league bonus.

Seriously, loot is so bad I got a number of raids from fellow TH10 today that only hit a single gold store. Normally these guys dont bother attacking me, cause there are way easier targets out there. I usually only get 1-2 attacks a week from a TH10. Who wants to waste a army to score 100K gold. Well i got the 8 mill elix to do the lightning spell.. So i dont really need to worry about the gold/elix for another 14 days now :rolleyes:

I will be upping my trophies (using barch... always the cheapskate) and reverting back to the DE grindstone :(

All i can say is that the poll results are very interesting and i urge people to at least cast a vote if they have not already.

As stitch said, i want / wanted to hear your opinions, i gave you mine whether you agreed or not and you never know maybe someone up there (Mods or community management) will be reading it, even if we dont see any comment from them.

The only part which i feel is broken about this game is that a TH10 at masters league cannot gain more resources compared to a TH8 at gold league, within the same time frame.

I just got 800K from a revenge. Then 400K from my first search when I went to go attacking. After that I got 200K from about 5 searches. (using BARCH) Go to 1600 trophies and youll see what im talking about.

My personal opinion:

TH7 - nope everything is fine, loot is amazing and loads of collector bases.
TH10 - loot is tough in places, good in others - a couple of weeks ago Gold 2 was where it was at - 100k of each within 5-10 nexts

Cup chasing - master to (just champ), in my experience it will always take gems to boost if you cannot spend all day dragging yourself up - and having a heart break with the 49%s in the process. right now i'm farming DE at M1 - no problem getting 2k-4k each raid.
Mid level champs - 3300-3800 i hear it's not bad for farming actually
Ultra high level champs 4k and up I guess - boring as heck, but these are the 100 or so players who for them that is their thing.

Che4ting - will always happen as players seek to gain an advantage, it happened pretty much from the moment the game came out, it will always be a game of cat and mouse between those who feel that it doesn't spoil the game for them (not my cup of tea) - nothing is ever 100% secure but the game definitely does NOT feel spoilt in any way by it to me.

On che4ting, the way I look at it is this:

Spoils the game for a few hundred, the gamers affected have a problem
Spoils the game for a few million, the game makers have a problem

So, no the game is not broken in my opinion and that's the vote I cast as a player.

I'm shocked everyone is having loot issues. I have been finding great loot. However, I think there is one thing wrong with the game and that is the motivation for playing it. Sure its fun but why play if u arent gonna gem? You will never be in a top clan or a top 200 player. Thats why clan wars is a must for me and thats why I have been playing the last few months, in hopes of that. Clan wars offers a sense of accomplishment for the 99% of people not in a top clan or top 200 players. So until clan wars is made, i feel as though the game is kind of and always has been a little broken. There needs to be something you play for if you don't want to gem.

1. Will not go away without a MASSIVE change to the game. Think about, why are dead base raids easy. Xbows down, infernos down, traps sprung, cc empty and all the loot sitting outside the walls. They will ALWAYS be the most efficeient way to raid unless you compltely remove the whole steal loot from another player aspect! So sure, make the bulk of the loot come from leagues or a win bonus. But otherwise dead base farming will always be where it is at.

2. Only applies to TH10. Th 9, TH8 and TH7 can all pull in crazy loot. The problem is the bulk of the "casual" player probably quits around th8. After that the game move from easy and fun, to grind it out.

The real way to help the game is too either improve the collector/mines for TH10 or increase TH10 firepower - farming firepower. Or *gasp* drop the cost of TH10 upgrades so it does not seem like a bottomless pit.

I have good days and bad days when farming. When my barracks are boosted it does feel like my match ups do become better idk just my opinion and i think boosted barracks are a cheap way to fast farm. Without boosted barracks i dont have a hard time farming usually. When i need elixer i go to high crystal/ master3 and hit the outside storages and try to get the 50% to maintain cups. Gold on the other hand ill climb close to master and do the same but i usually end up in low gold1.

I dont think the game is broken at all and if you feel that way yea id suggest taking a break like that one dude said ;)

I voted yes, the game is broken, but not for poor loot or the condition of the next button (well the next and loot issues may be related to why I voted yes). I seem to be one of those that thinks loot and next button are fine for both my town hall 8 mini and my town hall 10 main acct.

The reason I think the game is broken is the rampant use of methods known as "fluffy bunny". These methods, and there are many, allow a player to stay connected and avoid attack. Some for 6 hours, some rumored for more. These techniques take a player away from match making for both cups and loot. It is not fair to the casual player who plays the game according to the terms of service.

This, in my mind is the largest issue facing a game I have invested both time and money into and absolutely still love to play. How can supercell fix it? I'm not sure... Forced breaks once per hour? Once per 2 hours? I'm not sure.... But being out of the matchmaking queue for 6 hours is a huge advantage and I'm beginning to believe that it should be shortened. On top of that SC needs to find a way to patch the loopholes within the current system allowing players to stay on longer.

It's not broken when it comes to the technical part, and frankly, I can still manage to draw out some "fun" in this game.

However, I think it's broken in term of defensive aspect and loots, which is massively underpower compared to the offense. In addition, you've zero meaningful reward for winning defense if you don't choose to be one particular group (aka the trophy hunter).

I find myself paying gems, albeit a small amount per two hour playing sessions 10 or so times a week to make the game bearable. I too like to farm efficiently with max gold per hour being the most important thing. I use cheap troops and boost two barracks more often than not now.

With boosting two barracks I can get over a million gold per hour easily. That is the benchmark for me, anything less is a waste of time.

My beef with supercell is they pull inactives expecting us to get all the gold we need from active players... I loot 100 times more gold from others than is stolen from me! The math does not add up. Active players protect their gold, hide it in walls, spend it all before logging off, etc. Their answer? Cook two hour armies to conquer harder bases. Well, that isn't efficient, it is unsustainable, and the gold per hour is pathetic and you risk getting attacked much more often. Bigger armies are hardly the solution unless you are a well developed th10 and only because everyone with cheap armies is afraid to attack you.

They have turned the game into a poorly constructed console game without all the great features of a console game. It is a mobile phone game...

Seeing as we're using the word "broken" in this thread I'll say that the only area where I see the game as "broken" is Attack vs Defence.

For a fairly skilful player, one who is comfortable with their chosen army composition, it is very hard to lose against any base (fully maxed or not) with 240 troops, 30 CC troops, 5 spells and mid level heroes (in their 20s) on attack.

I've just done it rising from Crystal league to over 3,750 in a few weeks. In this whole time I only lost 2 or 3 battles.

Because Attack is so overpowered vs defence the leader boards are made up of players who are actively playing more than others (i.e.: They are staying online winning more trophies in sessions that they will inevitably lose on defence when they logoff), nothing else.

I agree that methods to keep players active should be stopped but you can't penalise players who wish to play for 6 hours straight. Reducing this to 1 or 2 hours would be suicide for the game. How you determine between active players and mechanical means of touching the screen I do not know - this is tricky.

Should defence become a bit more powerful then it would balance high level game play however this would only further "break" the game for Bill making his quicker armies more useless.

I suggested a while ago that playing quickly should be priority and even gave a suggestion that I would be happy to pay double Elixir charges to speed up the troop build. I wouldn't always do this but it would help sometimes when I just wanted some fun and actually play the game. Sadly this won't happen and I see the only way is to adapt to the gem usage.

Now if CoC only gave the same amount of Gems as Boom Beach then we'd all be fine.

I've only made it to 3000 cups stitch. I'm a log on attack/log off/attack/log off casual type of player. Maybe champ will never be available to a player like me. I could use some method to stay logged on, but I choose not to, because its not fun for me to tap a screen, and I want to play the game according to the ToS. At a certain point, 2950 cups in my last push, I would lose on defense for every attack I would win and thus I plateud there.

I guess the point I was trying to make is that a growing number of players are illegally taking themselves out of match making and that this is not fair to the casual player. I'm also trying to make the point that it is naive to think that this issue only effects the top most players, farmers are using this as well to protect resources, which is a contributing factor in the loot/next complaints. This is "broken".

I do disagree with you about shortening forced break being "suicide" for the game. It would make it harder to obtain and maintain the ultra high trophy counts as you'd be going on defense a lot more and losing more cups on defense, but is that a bad thing? And if, as you suggest, SC balances out defense so that defensive wins are possible, then you will have a much larger pool of players in champs league as casual players like myself begin to find it achievable.

I'm not sure its broken but... I do have some suggestions to improve the loot situation. A. Slow down or limit the removal of dead bases, so many of us feed off them thus helping the economics of the game. B. If its gonna continue to take 30+ "Next", then lower the cost of next or raise the win bonus. C. Add a benefit to winning a defense. D. Add single player missions with decent payout.

I maxed my th8, and am a fresh th9. Been from crys1 through silver1 in the last 10 days or so and currently at 1850ish. Loot to me seems "acceptable" in most ranges.

My only major complaint is that overall, the more time (or money) you invest to get to the higher town halls, the more you are punished for being successful (Communist @SC:p). The more powerful you become, the less loot you can get, the longer upgrades cost and take to finish. This all hardly seems like a reward for playing diligently for the months and years it takes to get to that level. And it's slightly discouraging to me to hear all the cons to going to th10. But I will farm on because im just as addicted as the rest of you.

To the OP, sounds like you need a vacation from the game bro. One of my clan mates needed one. Now he's back and all recharged.

I used to think like that. Bottom line is you're going to struggle to get to or sustain Champs League without staying online, nor do I believe you should be able to. Well, maybe bottom end of Champs League IF you have a fully maxed base, but no higher.

The reason is so few players are actually up there. I believe Supercell said that 0.2% of players are in Champs League or High Levels.

I'd say the majority are NOT illegally taking them selves out of the matching making queue. Because you have to be active to play and compete here you are NOT available. Then as soon as you logoff there are a lot of other active players ready to attack.

Most of Champs League gameplay is sat watching the clouds waiting for them to part and praying someone has a few trophies to try and take. Because Attack is so overpowered they are instantly taken out of the game.

The problem with high level is that quite a number of Top Clans all have an alliance where they are not allowed to 2 star each other for big trophy losses. Therefore they are stretching the divide between 3,200 and 4,500. If they attacked each other like they attacked everyone else then the top player would probably be on 4k.
