Been playing 5 days and something disturbs me greatly

Welcome to the new age of online gaming. If you look at App store most of the most popular games all work the same way, while the less popular games try to do their best to get to the same situation. Unfortunately many game offered are build in a way that if you want to be competitive or advance reasonable fast you need to pay and quickly you need to pay more them what people have been paying from real computer games.

Apparently now the free-to-play segment has entered even the point where a game if really unplayable unless you pay. The nice thing with CoC is that everything in the game can be gotten for free in time. It is not like you would get better troops with money only.

You might want to google "ponzi scheme" before filing your lawsuit...

This is also very true. The only problem for me is that nongemers cant compete at the top.
You cant argue that the game is very aggressive on those who get addicted. Im in the clan with the guy who has been on the top on the national list in Norway for a long while and heard hes story. He has spent above 60.000,- NOK wich is above $10.000,- on this game. And I think we can all agree that is a bit over the top:)

To your information Im a TH9, lv 101, 52/250 LegoWalls, Non gemer, but I don't have a fancy signature.

OP, you must understand, the top say 100 players in this clan (I might be being unfair so I apologise if you think so) play this game as an obsession. They don't see it as a game, but as the first online multiplayer sports contest. They see themselves as athletes. Olympians you may say. These players indeed spend vast amounts of money to be where they are.

Like all sports though, and as you may have seen for. The forums, some of these players have even resorted to bending the
Rules in order to stay/get where they are. For that perceived fame and renown.

But like all walks of life, their are choices. They choose to do it that way. I choose to do it your way. With patience and grinding. I didnt even gem the last two builder huts until the build times were getting longer. I actually wish id done it sooner as I would be a little way ahead of where I am just now.

If it wasn't for these top players, there would he no Clash of Clans, as it is their cash that that is pretty much holding up CoC. These players are spending cash that I hope they have. Would be a sad state of affairs if people were getting into debt over a game.

My aim is to get to the Champions League. I have a reasonable expectation that I will never be Top 200.

So, my advise to you would be suck it in. There are 3 undeniable facts in CoC you must learn.

1. Gemmers Gem.
2. Matchmaking sucks.
3. And nobody particularly cares what you (not you personally, you as in us all) think.

Op you are obsoletly correct. The sad thing is that this model of game has been so successful that other game companies have been following suit to make all of the games they put out, pay to play, pay to win. That means that just like in life, the ultra rich will rule you in game and out of game as well. Don't say, "it's just a game dude" because all companies have expressed interest in this new model and have begun to add extra pay elements. Not just Mobile games either. The ps1 and Xbox have games with extra stuff to buy but soon it will be daily hits of the wallet. Supercell and a few other game companies showed the other companies they too can make a grip of money daily off of their games. Soon we will only remember buying a game and that was the only purchase required for that game. Those days are almost behind us because so many supported this new, terrible model.

In the YouTube videos they obtain the gems for free I.E. App bounty, and I really don't see the point in this post

Wow, well I know guys that blow a lot more than that on 1 night in Vegas.....And I hear the same complaints from them. At least he has something tangible to still get entertainment from.

As long as there will be people thinking that free-to-play is teriible game model, there will be a certain demand for games that are otherwise. And as basic economic logic will tell you, there will remain a certain supply of the 'traditional' games as long as this is the case.

Thinking that the free-to-play model will ENTIRELY take over, against the will of some of the game-buyers, is obviously based on sentiment, not on fact.

Thats a common misconception, SC do very well from casual gem buyers and are in no way in need of the big hitters.

A certain player who was No1 awhile ago hadnt attacked in 2 weeks, how much do you think he spent on gems those weeks?

He has not complained. He have just been open about it. It is very much compareble to beeing addicted to gambling except you only pay to play for honours, not money prizes.
