Due to working away a lot with no internet I have been a TH 8 for an incredibly long time and have learnt some tricks I upgraded prematurely without gemming and realised the error of my ways just in time so its taken a while to get close to being ready to upgrade to TH9
1: make your TH appear accessible but ensure it costs any ground or air attacks so many troops to take it they have none left to do any serious damage to your resources
2: on coc wiki study the troop movement guides and defend accordingly
3: trigonometry is your friend at TH8 don't try being pretty and symmetrical it doesn't work
4: Max your troops before anything else and smash TH9s for fun
5:Only upgrade a maximum of 2 defences at a time and never 2 of the same type at the same time
I hope this helps I would have posted a screen shot of my defences but maintenance break has stopped me

Just so you know I am not blowing smoke
I know that common opinion is that th should be in the corner. But I personally find that in lower leagues (gold3 and below) you get faster th snipes if your th is closer to your walls. I think unexperienced th snipers may miss your th if it's in a corner. :)
I disagree most people who have made it to sweet victory have figured out what a town hall is and if its not there
dude... those attacks come from th8 troops...
guy in the middle have lv.6 giants but his archers is TH8 and Lv.3 minions...
I believe OP asked about how to defend against the strong one with Lv.6 troops / Lv.5 dark troops
Well, there is no way to defend against their attacks... Lv.6 BAM can loot even the maxed TH8 with the new hero skills... Giants / Hogs / Balloon are even more powerful, it's auto 3 stars on early and mid TH8 if the attacker don't fell in spring traps / bombs.
the only way is to hide from them like putting TH on corner, keep your storage as low as possible, hide on low trophy
otherwise, join them...
My clanmates made it to crystal, she was TH5 at that time and put her TH on corner
Will add some more when I figure out how
I have no issues with your base, it's a well developed TH8 and a good layout.
But strong TH9's with maxxed troops will still steamroll it.
What is your problem dude? I said that was an option not that they all have (but when it's a strong TH9 they will have a fair amount of DE)
We have th5 and 6 in crystal too but on all of those attacks i trapped my th on the edge of my base lost trophies but no one had enough troops th 9 onwards to do any damage to my focused storages if someone was clever enough to stop and think they could flatten me.
As for th outside its great for cheap shields but if I can take out a th with 3 barbs and then focus on the rest I will smash them with the rest
Yes my problem is against "true" th9ers. I'm at th8 from a week and only and i have been steamrolled by the following compositions:
- Barch (level 6 archers and barbarians) with level 10 barb king. (this one was terrible for my ego )
- Giants (lvl 5), wizards (lvl 5) + rage, healing and double heroes (lvl 10 bk, lvl 4 aq).
- A mix of giants (level 6) and 3 pekkas (level 1 i think).
I have never faced balloons, dragons (in mass) or hog riders (due to my low trophy count i guess).
A lot of people just snipes my town hall without doing damages. The only true attacks i suffer are very strong and they all come from th9ers.
Thanks everybody for helping me. xxx
