I wish there was info on the amount of exp every upgrade gives you, but that would be very time consuming, starting a new account just for that :(

The reason you should cancel your town hall is that you are penalized for attacking 2 TH below the level you are at. At TH9 you will only be able to find decent loot from TH8 and TH9s. It also means that people with town halls 7 and below will get a bonus for attacking you. It will be much harder to collect the gold you need to upgrade your base. Also you are very far from maxing out TH8, A maxed TH8 should have mortars all at 6, WT should be at 6, Cannon’s at 10 and archer towers at 10 and tesla should be at 6.
