So i switched to your newest tempest build this morning and got 3 starred right after the bat even i was farming layout! Im in 1400-1500 range of trophies. I was using your old tempest from january or so before i switched this morning. Then tonight i just now switched to this one in farming layout. I did tweak some traps around. Hopefully this layout will fare better then getting 3 starred first time switching to the new tempest. Will update you in the morning!:)
Well i got 100% someone 3 starred me on first raid. Im switching back to tempest now........ really dissapointed i was using farming layout of this.

I've tested Nexus out in CW and trophy pushing and variant #1 is great. I modified it a bit to fit my farming needs, but will be switching to variant #2 tonight to get a better distribution of storage. I'm not sold on the 3 giant bombs in the middle to lure troops with the open spot, so we shall see how it goes. I'm eagerly waiting for your next Tempest, but I still feel Nexus is better atm.

Last night, I shifted from your shuriken base to the nexus core var 1, and got raided 5 times in that period. The 4th attack basically blew up my CC troops, so when the 5th came in with a ballonion the base pretty much got beat. The CC troops would have made such a difference!
i'll still be testing this out, maybe make a few mods here and there to suit my needs. During those 5 attacks the base was exactly like the picture you provided, and today i just opted to move the surrounding buildings out a bit so that the king doesn't get lured like what happened to the 4th defense.
Here is my first defense log (it's in a link because I can't seem to post pictures using my phone)! Basically only the 4th and 5th had anything worthwhile xD the 10 hogs attack just dropped hogs and surrendered idk why.

Orz's base designs are the best! I'm currently using Shuriken for my regular farming base and The Tempest for my war base! :)

With my current wall levels (7), people in TH9 get inside faster than ones with lower troops (obviously).
Good things so far
- effective against most Garcher strategies
- storage compartments spread out makes for good farming
- wall pattern makes for good and effective funneling :D (i love funneling)
Bad things I've encountered
- not really that good with defending against *experienced* hog users (take note experienced lol, and it's really hard to defend against hogs in general, especially level 5 ones)
- the upper air def was easily destroyed once by a mass of level 6 giants (>_<) and lots and lots of wallbreakers. the guy obviously knew how to manipulate where the giants go lol (and plus he used heal spells on maxed giants, it was too OP)
