TH7 @ ~1200 trophies ATM if that's relevant

Not sure about troop compositions for TH7, but the whole point of Barch is to use barbarians as meat shields while your archers take out defenses with their ranged damage. You want to look for bases with storages that are easy to access, around the perimeter or behind just one level of walls. If possible, take out splash damage towers asap, and always pull CC troops and BK (if heading into the core).
Of course, if you can find a collector raid, those are preferable.
Hope that helps a bit. Not an in-depth guide by any means but should give you the basic idea. Find the right base, spend as few troops as possible, and move on to the next one. Quick, cheap, simple.
Barch is used to take out the outside buildings of a base to get 50% on trophy pushes, or to take out collectors on resource raids. It in not effective in getting on the inside of a base.
I farm and push with it.
I wrote this on it.

People saying its not effective to get inside are wrong, with rage spells after taking out soem outside buildings, muse them to egt in easy, then place last few barbs and archers and your in
Never in the world have I thought I was gonna be a Barcher. It is worth it and you can do it with no problem. It is fun, cheap, quick, and easy to use. Totally worth it. 3/8 archers, 5/8 barbs. Place the barbs before the archers. Only takes about half of my camps (total of 200) to get 30%. I got lvl 5 barbs and archers, but still use this to your advantage.
My way of BArch (and this is really the only farming style I enjoy using at TH8 or below):
1) I use Barbarians to take out any outside objects that would/could possibly distract Archers, CC troops, etc.
2) Whatever Barbarians left over are to act as a meat shield for my Archers, CC troops, etc. (similar to BAM - drop Barbarians in rows, and then drop Archers/CC troops/etc. behind)
3) 100 Barbarians and 100 Archers with 3 Lightning spells is my army comp for TH7 & TH8 (I rarely use CC troops or Barbarian King, sometimes I don't even need any spells either!)
4) Only use Lightning spells, heroes, and CC troops when extremely necessary (i.e. 48% and two open buildings, etc.).
