What's the scoop on clans

This may seem like a stupid question for some, but I haven't been able to find an answer anywhere. I get invited to join clans, but I don't know what they're all about. I know some of them say you have to pay to be a member. They list amounts like 200 or 300 so I assume they are talking about gems, which would be really expensive. I know there is some way they can help defend your village because I have had hoards of powerful fighters pour out at me when I was attacking. How does one choose a good clan? How does one donate troops using a tablet?

That's talking about donations. This means they want 200 or 300 troop space worth(Ex: Giant is 5, Archer is 1....) donated every 2 weeks.

When clan members donate troops to you they go into your clan castle. In battle, you can deploy your clan castle and all the troops inside it will come out.

Depends if you want to trophy push or farm resources. Just join a clan you think looks cool and if you don't end up liking them then find another.

When in a clan, there will be a clan chat to the left of the screen.(Next to the global chat) When clan members ask for troops you can click on the big green DONATE button and select the troops you want to donate. Up to a maximum of 5 troops.

Wow, thanks. Answered all my questions. One more. Do the clan troops come out automatically when you are attacked?

They come out once an attacker's army is within range. If you click on the clan castle you can see the range. Once out, they chase any enemy troops anywhere around your base.

Talk to some forumites, I'm sure they can help you fanagle a good spot in a nice feeder!
