Hey, I've just recently jumped up to crystal 2 to try balloonions out, and while its a bumpy road to learn how to farm with it, I'm making good enough DE to stick around. The trouble is that I'll do my attack and only end up with 40% of the base destroyed. Is there some trick to 1 starring bases with this method?
if your loons and minions are maxed, you should be getting 50% if not add like 10 archers to army composition to pick off other buildings for %
How many minions are you using? I would try to add more minions and less balloons the trick is to let the balloons tank for the minions, like dropping giants to tank for archers.
Right now I'm running 20 balloons and 60 minions. Is that too little?
20/60 should be okay. If you are having issues getting 50%, you may be pushing too far into the core of the base. To ensure 50%, make sure you get all of the outside buildings. It will mean that you need to put a few balloons & minions on each side of the base. I like to save the side that I want to attack the most for last. Once you know that you will get the 50%, then you can push the remaining force of your army into the storages from the side of your choosing.

Ok tricks I have to reach 50%.
1. I hold back 10 to 15 minions and usually 6 archers (depending what comes out of the CC). I use these to clean up by picking off building once the main attack is over.
2. My heroes can usually get me an extra 8-10% on their own. I only ever use them at the end of a battle if 50% is required.
3. Learn the hp of building, you get the same % per building but its far easier to take out a builder hut then it is to take out an army camp.
4. Try and watch whats going on with HP of buildings as you are attacking.

Anyway, not a great answer but when I first started looning it was difficult for me to do anything shy of an all-out attack. This was expensive and I am willing to admit often poorly executed.
See Unity Sharp's thread on th9 farming. He has some good tactics to master. Daddy also has a maneuver that is essential for tackling tough bases. Master one deployment method, then expand into a few others. Once your "kit" gets rounded out you can farm all the way to 2400 without needing loads of rage spells.
20+60 is perfect for all the way into Masters, in fact if you are really keen to just farm faster 16+70 works too you just have to skip more bases as 16+70 is more of a quick farming setup. Spells become more necessary over around 2500, but for C2, 1 spell per fight is the average you should be able to maintain. If not, you are not selecting the right bases to attack. You still have to skip a lot of bases, even if you have good skills and knowledge. For example this morning I farmed my way up to about 2340 with 20+60, making 200-300k gold per attack and good de with hardly any spells, then switched to 16+70 and immediately blew it by attacking the wrong base with no heroes, no clan castle and missing 2 spells (missed half the gold, all the de, and got 39%). So knowing the bases your army can defeat is the key, and always have something up your sleeve for the unexpected (spells, heroes, cc and/or a few minions in reserve).
On top of the others mentioned, also look at Ruthless Barbarian's youtube channel, he also has a lot of good tips.
Well I started ballooning at 2200 and have managed to lose and free fall to 1992--granted my AQ is upgrading :D--now the thing I've been trying to figure out is luring the CC. I'm resorting to replacing 10 minions with 2 hogs. Anyone got any tips on how to actually go about this?
I use 24 balloon and 50 minion. CC I kinda got lazy to request for minion because my clan don't have level 5 minions so I just do with wizards and archers to mass break through a few buildings [hopefully]Quote:

Strategy is

Id keep around 5 minions as last minute resort. Normally when I'm close to 40-45% i will release CC troops [not to worry because this army takes 40 minutes to train, together with spells and CC requests rotate every 20 minutes. and heroes at spaces.
Eventually if they all die I look for minion spots to snipe XD. 50% guaranteed 1 star.
Don't expect 2 star because inferno towers are mostly set at multi to void hog rider and witches... x_x
