Price of gem packs up, why not also ammount of gems

Apple tweaked the Euro prices of in-app purchases and apps. For example, the 500 gems package went from 3,99€ to 4,49€. These are standard price points across all of the App Store. Supercell states that there is nothing they can do about this. (for full post look at announcements).

I dont totally agree. The prices are fixed. But the ammount of gems in each pack is not. Supercell could basicly just make packs of 550 instead of 500. a pack of 1150 instead of 1000. 2500 instead of 2200. etc etc etc.

OR

Decrease gem cost for certain things.

We talk about a 12.5% price increase. This is a verry big increase.
I look forward to supercells respond on why they didnt increase the ammount of gems in ea pack,
in order to keep the value/price per gem the same.

any superscell staff who can comment on this?

They probably do this because simply if they increased gems for you guys, then they would have to for everyone because we all play together and it would be considered "unfair" also they are right in saying that apple has the right to do this, as far as I see it, its about money, if you know anything about the world we live in, the world turns because money flows. Companies like supercell can't survive unless they have money and this is a free game nobody is forcing you to pay anything, as far as I see it, they hit big with this game and I have to congratulate them. But anyway in response to your post its most likely a keeping it fair thing but I could be totally wrong....

Before, 500 - $5, now, 500 - $6, but the $1 difference all goes to Apple, to Supercell that's no different than 500 - $5.

Yeah, not a good time to put the price up and keep the number of gems the same, people I know are not happy at all about this

Supercell can offer sale prices based on the holidays as every other company does that are on iTunes, that's a workaround over Apples price raise or they can offer more gems for the money!!

All excuses and nothing more!!

it would have been good PR to make some kind of gesture no matter how small

That's not true. The percentage the developers get from Apple stayed the same, so an increase in price also means an increase in income for Supercell.

Why should Supercell increase the gems in the pack knowing full well people will still buy them? We know what their business strategy is like from the recent updates and it's working it's either the top grossing or very near the top of the charts. All the whiners moaning about trophies and having to spend hundreds of £/$ to compete.... Well guess what, no one is making you spend a penny on the game, carry on spending a fortune to compete or don't who cares. I'm enjoying the game and have spent about £30 on it to date and spend the odd amount in the future for shields when busy with work etc.

My hat off to Supercell they sure know how to get players to spend money.

We have no information about this.

All we know is that the price increased by 1 Euro and that price increase is out of the hands of Supercell.
