indestructible telsa

posted this in the bug forum but nobody was able to confirm or deny that this is a bug or ♥♥♥ happened, so i just wanted to see if anyone else ran into this problem... dropped 2 lightning spells on telsa being upgraded so i could deploy troops in middle. two didnt work so i tried another and yet nothing... took a screenshot of 4th one dropped and you can see heavy damage on surrounding buildings and destroyed lv7 mortar yet telsa is untouched. anyone else run into this problem? or just a heads up so you dont do the same.

My guess is because it still behaves as teslas normally do, you have to activate them (get within 5 squares) for them to pop up and damage them. This is purely speculation though.

there's been various threads about the ability to spawn troops on destroyed tesla's. you can't spawn troops on destroyed buildings, teslas are no different. save your lightnings for mortars and CC troops.

I do it all the time but it only works if the tesla was positioned to give one of those false spawn points.

Aren't there hopes of lightning rods to deflect lightning spells on DE tanks? Maybe this tesla was a developer's test village?

I don't think the tesla was indestructible, must be something about not being actuated, perhaps something needs to come within range for it to be subject to attack.

i've seen these threads before as i mentioned earlier. you're not spawning troops on the destroyed tesla, you're spawning on the space next to it. try zooming in and dropping troops on the open space before wasting lightnings cause in theory it should work.

So if there is a seemingly open 1x1 spot that is really a tesla you are saying you can spawn there if you zoom really close?

you sound butthurt for some reason and need to actually read what i wrote again. i said you can't spawn troops on a tesla, destroyed or otherwise. you can however spawn troops on a 3x3 square a tesla covers as it doesn't cover the empty space entirely with it's 2x2 structure (not 1x1 as you mentioned above, nub). you don't need to destroy a tesla that's building to spawn troops on the small opening if you zoom in as you are droping troops on grass, not tesla.

im so confused... so if you have a 3x3 space (leaves an open 1x1 in the middle) wouldnt a 2x2 building no matter how its placed in that 3x3 square cover the middle 1x1 square? and im 100% positive that you can deploy troops after you destroy a telsa in a 3x3 area which is why i tried to destroy it with spells.

Tim is right on the ability to spawn troops on destroyed teslas. Their spawn coverage is similar to that of decorations, which is none but the decorations themselves. About the 3x3 squares with teslas inside, the spawn coverage comes from the surrounding walls, leaving a lone spawn point in the middle. The only reason why you can't spawn there is because there's a decoration/tesla there

OT, I think the game registers the upgrading tesla as being hidden still, therefore unaffected by damage until enemy troops get in its activation range.

I think SuperCell intended for teslas to be upgraded underground, but they are afraid of a working condition class action lawsuit from the builders.

OP seems to have a point.

but for the life of me, i can't comprehend why anybody should be dumping a lightning spell to a structure that is being upgraded.

because if u destroy a normal hidden telsa (in a 3x3 square or larger) that pops up behind say a 3 layer wall you can deploy troops inside that open square so you dont have to go through walls with troops. which is why i tried to take advantage of the enemy base not replacing his upgrading telsa.

hah, i'd have to say you are the butthurt one in this scenario as you have resorted to ad hominem after i asked a clarifying question.

the 1x1 space I spoke of was the 1x1 space of seemingly valid spawn space that a 3x3 walled area creates. Here is a 3x3 space with a tesla in it notice it the "invalid location" message I got when attempting to drop troops on it:

1] Can we destroy hidden tesla w lightning, without activating them using troops?
2] If no, then Can we destroy tesla that is upgrading w lightning?
3] If yes, does it mean we should move any repairing tesla away from the centre?

Please provide a picrute where you actually have dropped a troop after destroying the tesla, this proves nothing.

the question I have is as to whether or not the tesla is being consructed, or upgraded?

If they're putting a lvl 1 in place, then technically, there's nothing there already, until it is built.
Whereas a lvl 2 or above will have been there before...
either way, it should indeed be underground until activated...they don't have to build anything on top...the mechanism is all underneath.

Though now I've thought about it more...the builders should indeed put up safety barriers so that the workers don't accidentally fall down the 'hole'.

It's 'elf n safety gone mad'!

So you can't ligtening something that's underground..but you can smash up the safety barriers with a sword, or an arrow.

Actually if they would do it "underground", there is not enough space. That's why they have it out to fix it, just like a submarine usually is under water but for repair it's "up"/ visible and destructable.

maybe they just barrier off the area, and wait for it to be built elsewhere, and then they connect it up at the end of the build...so they're not actually lightening it, but the space it would occupy when the parts have been delivered and fitted.

so it definitely is possible. whether it is useful is another question. it can be difficult to bait the tesla and kill it without having sacrificed a lot of troops to do so. probably more efficient to just rage the walls (assuming you are doing this because spikes have made your wall breakers useless). however, it does give you an option on a well spiked based when you've no rage spells at your disposal.

with regards to the tesla being immune to lightning i think what ping and i have suggested is the only reasonable explanation.

it isn't that you cannot destroy the tesla with lightning when it is being upgrade but rather that they are probably still treating it as a tesla. much in the same way you can't lightning an open space that you think is a tesla and kill it you can't kill an upgrading telsa until you do one of two things:
-bring a troop within range to "actuate" the tesla (i believe this is within 5 spaces).
-get 50% damage which will "actuate" all the teslas

so most likely an upgrading tesla is still considered "hidden" and therefore no valid to attack until one of the above has occurred. this is just conjecture, if i get a chance to test it out i will but i don't often carry lightning spells.

well if its being upgraded "underground" then how would you be able to activate it? wouldnt it be out of commission thus not being able to activate? that would be pretty dangerous for workers... i liked the submarine reference and believe thats how it should be viewed as

Cool, but you do have to trigger it first, right?

Will it work if the tesla have the same space-dimentions but the walls are further away?

Yeah it has to be triggered first, that is why it is usually more of a gimmick then a great strategy. You can lose a lot of archers if things go wrong. It will work as long as you see that false spawn point that is being blocked by the tesla.

the only time I've found it to be worth while is on a heavily spiked base where there is one compartment with the resources and you don't have a rage spell. It is also best if the placement of your archers isn't within a mortar or wizard towers range as you have to clump them to take out the tesla.

edit: the. Other time it is useful is if the tesla is in deep in the base, after you wall break in and take out the tesla you can spawn goblins and others deep inside the base which is good for timing mortar shots.
