What are YOUR definitions of "Farming" and "Pushing"?

Because so many people have different strategies, it's hard to tell what really works.
So what I want to know is, what do you consider "Farming"? What do you consider "Trophy Pushing"? And how do you accomplish these tasks.

(Sorry for the noob question, just new to the terms.)

Farming= going for resources
trophy pushing= going for the most trophies u can until u get mad and rage quit.

Well, I'm under the influence that there are strategies to pull off "Farming" and "Pushing". I just don't know what the are, or how to play them out.

Pushing you want to get as many stars as possible. Either a 50% 1 star, or 50% plus town hall 2 star, or 100%. Technically you can get 3 stars and lose resources faster for sake of trophies and time, or use something like barb/archers and farm while pushing trophies at the same time.

Farming you want to aim for resources only, trophies don't matter unless you're trying to maintain a possible range where your good loot is found then you win a few to get yourself back up to the upper range of your limit.

Most of what has been described here is accurate. Farming by definition means forgoing trophies to get resources. For a farmer, trophies have little value besides just maintaining the trophy range that you intend to farm in. Pushing by definition means getting as many trophies as possible. What a pusher really cares about are the trophies with a small consideration to getting enough resources to build armies. As you continue to climb up in trophies, you will get to a point where you cannot do both, "farming" and "pushing", effectively. At some point, you will start to max out on offense and you will not be able to go for all the loot that a target offers but will instead be aiming for just achieving that 50% needed for the victory. So while in the short term, you can go for both resources and trophies, eventually you will get to a point where you need to chose which you prioritize.

Farm: go for resources and protect them.
Push: Go for trophies, protect town hall and maybe resources

I defensively farm, but for offense, I farm and go for trophies at the same time.
