I'm sorry that I didn't give more detailed feedback, I was more concerned at the time in logging my negativity than the reasons why.

Level is a TERRIBLE indication of how strong someone is as from 0-75% (or more!) of their XP can have come from donations depending on if you want to be in a clan at all or want to be in a clan donating 10,000 troops per week. So basing Level to determine the players you should be matched against is bad.

The game already allows only a fraction of someone's loot to be taken from them in a raid if there is a large difference in townhalls between players. So it's impossible that this is an issue. (The loot penalty is doing it's job)

The game has a ranking system (pointless as it may be except at the highest end) that shows who wins the most battles/defenses. This is trophies and leagues. So the fact that another player has wiped out your base and won some trophies (and you have lost some) is just the result that he is better than you.
He either has a higher townhall, uses better troops, or has better tactics, but he is better than you. He wins/you lose.
