Maxing TH7?

I have been playing Clash for about 10 weeks now, and I have a question for some higher level players that hasn't really be answered on the forums as far as I can tell. Early on I figured out that maxing everything at your current TH is the best way to get to a good base because of the loot penalty. This is what I have done for each successive TH. I am currently a TH 7 and have

100% maxed defenses,

100% level 7 walls

And of course max army camps and barracks, (how else would you raid?)

My problem is that I was able to upgrade buildings much faster than I could upgrade troops, (5 builders, 1 lab). Lab upgrades I have left are: Balloons 4, Rage Spell 3/4, Healing Spell 4, and Hog Rider 2. This is 22 days worth of upgrading, while it will be 8 days until my builders are all done with Mines and Collectors.

Judging from my friends' premature TH 8's, gold is considerably harder to farm at TH 8 than at TH 7. I am wondering if this holds true for Dark Elixir as well. I will have better troops and defenses, but no 50% loot protection from TH 9. I would say I am decent at DE raiding, as I was able to steal the 75,000 DE :o needed for Barbarian King 1 through 5, so I should be able to raise the 20,000 needed for the Hog upgrade. However it is 8 days long, which will delay my TH upgrade 8 more days :(.

Tell me what you think, whether or not to completely, 100% max out TH7 lab upgrades. Thanks!

Edit: Thanks for the quick responses guys! I will have all stuff maxed for TH7 except Hogs before my TH finishes.

About the de farming.. you will get a de drill at th 8 which you can upgrade to lvl 3, and you will also get a better defence protecting your de storage, which imo results in easier de farming at th 8 compared to th 7.

I would say you are ready, hogs aren't that important to max at TH7 and it's easier with the drill at TH8.

Pretty interesting as I'm town hall 7 to. In my opinion Hogs are not really important but if you use them a lot then maybe you should upgrade them. I think your ready to go to town hall 8 because all defences maxed and all walls maxed is really good! Good job and go to town hall 8

I upgraded my th after all buildings and walls where upgraded. Apart from 9-10 as i didnt want 5 builders sitting around doing nothing competing to tap a wall.

Imo elixir is never a problem at any th lvl, only gold becomes more of an issue. As for dark troops the production from a drill will keep that ticking by so i wouldnt worry about them just yet either.

I'd just say upgrade, th8 was fun for me. Great work so far too.

I have two maxed everything TH7s and just moved one to TH8 about 2 weeks ago. There isn't a notable difference other than TH9 and 10 being able to steal more loot and DE of course.

It comes down to what league you plan to be in. In Master 3 and 2 your loot is pretty well protected as the majority of players are TH10 so loot penalty is more noticeable.

However, if you are farming in gold or crystal you need to be on top of your DE at all times. I have about 16k of DE and have been running into a number of 1000 DE loss raids for a TH8 in Crystal 3 and 2.

The moment i get a new town hall level first upgrade i do is Labratory and its upgrading troops non stop. I was at the same position as you a few weeks ago and I decided to upgrade to TH8 since it would be such a huge waste to haev 22 days of sleeping builders. Just make sure you upgrade the troops you plan to use or use often. For example I did all upgrades except, hogs, minions and dragons. (did Minions after i hit TH8) and not really planning to use hogs ever, waste of DE.

You should always max out every TH level before you go to the next.

And they way to do that is by being an excellent farmer.

Only clowns (cheeturz) use gems to fill up their storages.

So you're saying he should wait 22 days for his lab upgrades to finish while his 5 builders just wait since his buildings are max?
