I prefer Barch because when your trying to use bam it wastes de and sometimes hard to control over
I don't know how it's hard to control. You only use the minions in BAM if the net gain is greater than the loss of those minions.Quote:

I think you'd find that most BAM farmers only throw their minions out there if they feel it's worth it. This is true of all raiding. If I find a base that has a lot of full collectors I won't use all my barbs or archers. Why? Just grab the loot and run.

Most at bases i attack with BAM are vault style. Clear the outside buildings and as many in the first set of walls and make a path for your minions to reach the center storages. Hello gold storages AND DE storage!
Bam works best for me. 200k of each every twenty minutes. my army takes 13-15 minutes and it takes about 5 minutes to find a battle. I usually bring about 30 minions and try to have my barbs and archers split evenly. For a townhall 9 stay in 1300-1599
I would side with barch. Minions are awesome but they take up a decent chunk of camp space and I just prefer to not mix ground and air units. Plus the de cost.

I would have to say bam. Especially if your th8 and have a drill, let alone 9 and have 2 drills. The Gentleman who made the point bout "why complain about DE, you use Elixir troops to farm elixir right?" Or something to that effect really hit home.
I use Bam because I only raid collector bases that are full. I have a funny feeling some people are trying to 3 star bases with Bam. Possible? Ofcourse. Purpose less? Indeed. Unless you want cups which is a whole 'nother thread.
Bam was made not just to get your army camp full the quickest, but also to raid the fastest and be ready to go again, hit and run ( I'm talking to any noobs out there)
Lastly, to the Gentleman above me who stated that he doesn't use minions because he "doesn't like to mix ground/air troops".......?!
not everyone with collector bases has them laid out waiting for you to crush. A lot of ppl at times have them protected by walls and or other buildings, especially dE drills.
Now, obviously, you can do the ol' lay down some barbs to tank/distract while the archers shoot over the walls, but when mortars and punishing you, it's not always that simple.
Thats where minions come into play.
The most common and probably best strategy the tell you is to send in barbs to clean up/tank, send in Archers to support them, then send in minions to get loot once the path is clear. This works a lot, but sometimes I find myself doing the opposite.
if they are foolish enough to have splash buildings like wizard towers or mortars too exposed, I send in a handful of minions to punish their insolence. THEN I send in my barbs/archers after I take out the exposed splash defenses.
whatever works for you.
Lastly, I hate when my clan mates post replays of nice raids where they dump all of their troops for no reason and overkill then have to wait forever to raid again. Just use what u need. ESPECIALLY if TownHall is already exposed for easy win. No need in going ham, just get what you came for, barracks and army camps don't give loot, no matter how hard I try..lol..

I´m a TH 9 and I use about 100 barbs and 100 arch with 8 wbs. This combo works really good for me, and often I don't use all of my troops. If i run past a nice collector base with maybe at least 100 K of each resource i can just put some barbs as tank and follow it up by archers. In this way you don't waste many troops and therefore you can go attack again right after.
You had a TH 8, I would recommend you using maybe 90 barbs, 90 archers and 8 wbs.
( I have wbs so I can go into bases that have all the loot in the storages. )

In my opinion, BAM is a better option but if DE is a concern, I would go with Barch,
