I'm a bit in the same boat. My TH8 is mid-end, and I'm farming DE. But with barch (barb&arch) and an overnight army of mass dragons (L3).
I'm currently around 1700, my attacks give me about 500-700 DE. If you go higher, you'll see even more DE. When I was around 1900 I saw quite regularly bases with 2K+ to 3K. But they were TH10 armed to the teeth. But sometimes the DE was reachable (not inside, but not outside as well). My overnight army is for such 2K+ base...
Depends on how you want to attack. Often with smaller loot, or less with bigger loots. Your choice.
One warning, when going higher, (crystal) you will see even more DE, BUT you'll see more and more TH9&TH10. And they can get YOUR DE as well. I have had occasional DE attack, lately...
