L6 Minions vs L40 AQ

The question is simple: how many Maxed Minions does it take to kill a Maxed AQ?

Not "about" or "around".. Exactly.

The stats
L6 minion: 54 DPS/84 HP

L40 AQ: 456 DPS (342 Damage/ shot) 2566 HP

Assumptions:
Nothing else is targeting the Minions.
The AQs fire rate is constant despite switching targets (or does switching targets change fire rate)

Straight up, it takes 48 Minion hits to kill the AQ. But you are losing minions(4 every 3 secs) as the AQ defends herself.

Can someone help with the algebra/ calculus here? My brain does not like math...

im too lazy to do the math also but I can tell u it takes a maximum of 48 minions. (if u place them at the same time not 1by1)

I shall assume that the minions fire one shot/second
this is a parabolic equation, and the answer would be: 12 minions

the way the math shows is that to be absolutely certain that she dies, you would want thirteen minions, because the 12th minion may not get his shot off before the AQ kills her.

ALSO, this is assuming that all the minions were placed down at the EXACT SAME TIME.

If you take the derivative of the function, you will find that the minimum is at x=12

Two things, first and most embarrassingly, I did do my math wrong initially. *hangs head in shame*

Second, if I was looking for exactness without waste, I would use thirteen minions. The reason you might have more minions left over occasionally is that sometimes the timing of who starts attacking first is off. If your full set of minions attacks before the queen does she is going to die slightly faster and thus more minions left over. If she attacks first, which I would imagine is rare because you can control when the minions go down, it will take the minions slightly longer. If they start attacking at the same time then 13 is exactly how many you'll need.

I personally believe that there is a hit recognition error or lag on the lvl 6 minons attack so who knows the damage per second because the damage sure doesn't register when the minions little black ball hits it target.

This. I did the math twice and the same number (12) came to be the answer. Its obvious that the minion doesn't deal 1 shot/sec, which is an assumption i made on my calculation.

Did you only read the title or did you just suggest using the archer queen to kill the archer queen?

As Rain mentioned, I lured the L40 queen to a camp, then dropped 12 minions with 2 fingers as fast as possible. 3 or 4 of the minions first attacked the camp, then attacked her. The queen pretty much immediately began shooting down my minions, but in the end 4 minions out of 12 survived.

So, It's clear that 12 minions have enough firepower to take down the queen before she gets all of them. Could less manage? Next time I get a chance to test it, I'll post the results.

Next time try 10 minions. If it works then you know the answer is 10 (based on how many minions are left over). If it doesn't work, I would be willing to bet that 11 would be the number you're looking for (since 12 yielded 4 minions left standing).

9 is almost guaranteed to be too few.

I sorta believe this in relation to multiple targets, but in my experience if its larger targets there DPS tends to hit its mark



However, vs 30 archers I believe estimating an exact number needed to win would be near impossible. This is due to the fact that minions will often target the same archer, resulting in wasted DPS. This in turn is related to the deployment of said archers. If they are all bunched up, then killing them with minions is a huge pain. If they are spread out and said minions are also spread out, then not so complicated. However, if the minions bunch up on 1 or 2 targets they'll still waste huge amounts of DPS



They do okay verses Wizards/Dragons if they just don't bunch up.

EDIT: Also the minimum # of minions to defeat a queen probably does result in a few left over. As one less is also DPS over the course of that last remaining minion that does not get factored in. This is why you rarely get a 3 star win with one troop left over. There is a sort of critical mass that can pull off the attack.

Ok this should be correct, the answer is 11.

Sorted this out the "empirical" way. The upper bar represents the attack speed of minions, the lower one the AQ's.
Every .75 seconds one minion dies (e.g. red circle), passing from N to N-1 and so on. So the actual number of minions shooting every 1s is the number left right after the AQ shot (blue circle). When the two timers align the series skip a step (purple circle), because the minions shooting would have been let's say 6 but right in that moment one is shot down and unable to fire. The formula of minions total damage being:

Dam=N*54+(N-1)*54+(N-2)*54 etc. until minions/AQ die

Tried out with 10 minions but the total damage is too low, eleven thus being the minimum number required

If you find any bug in this reasoning please tell me, I'll be glad to go over it again
