So i have set my X-bows to ground and air after many air attacks. I am currently farming in gold 1. What do you guys do and why? Is the increased range really worth the risk being wiped out by an all air army?

Always ground and air. Theres a rising number of people doing air attacks nowadays. Level 6 minions are a threat.

I'm guessing that the majority of people will tell you to go ground and air, but I have set mine to ground ever since someone dropped a heal spell on a drag and it gained health (and did quite a bit of damage) while my x-bow was firing at it. That said, I have long been committed to winning any and all defenses of air attacks, and 4 well-protected and well-positioned high-level air defenses will do a lot more for you than a couple of air x-bows will.
Honestly, I feel like the xbow was made to annoy me. I set it to ground.. Instantly get air raided. Air and ground... Annoys me less, so I do that.

Ground and air always. The drop in range from 14 to 11 tiles is minor compared with the ability to hit 4 more troop types. 11 range is still pretty good.
2 x ground and air and 1 on ground only
