I see all over the forums and global chat this label of "he/she" is a gemmer. What does everyone think that means?
In my mind it's a player that has spent over $100.00.

Someone who buys gems regularly, however i dont use gemmer as a derogatory term.
Anyone who buys resources.
Thanks for the feedback. Judging from the early results I would guess just about everyone is a gemmer. That is totally fine. I appreciate those that have spent some money to continue the development of the game. It's just used as such a derogatory term. Full disclosure I have spent 50.00 over the past 11 months. I certainly don't mind as I have never spent this much time on any game (especially all the 50.00 console games I've bought throughout the years).
Anyone that spends gems on anything other than builders is a gemmer to me.....builders are a must if you are a keen player. And the cost is nothing compared to any other game on Xbox or PS3. I dont mind give supercell some money for such a great game and think builders is a must to help support this great game. (Even though top players do all the supporting it needs)
My friend recently bought the $50 pack of gems which I thought was pretty lame.
All of the top 200 players. Simple explanation.
Wow. Results are very interesting. I feel like loser for spending 50 bucks. Whose idea was this poll anyway. Ha ha ha
For all of you that haven't spent anything...I salute you. I really thought the gemmers were the max walls people who have spent thousands and thousands of dollars. But again, if you are reading this and haven't spent much, good for you. I'm impressed. :)
If you buy gems to boost and whatnot, and spent 250$ but have a 700m gg your not a gemmer. But if you spent 250, and have a gold grab of 700k, Your a gemmer. Gem correct and smart for best results
Like already said anyone who buys resources & is boosting anything tht can be boosted constiently
1. Horrible walls, bad defenses, low level, and low TH
2. Great base, possibly maxed, LOW GG
Interesting answers from everybody. The name "Gemmer" when talking to someone is use as an insult to others from what I notice on these forums/global chat/clan chat. If a person were to buy gems just to boost spell fact/barracks you can call them a gemmer because they bought gems, but they have to put the work in by making troops and attacking. Its kinda of vague.
When defining a gemmer using the insulting way, I would consider it someone who buys a lot of gems and uses it to buy resource, applying the resource to building upgrades, heros and walls. Doing no absolute work to earn the upgrades.
In reality, anyone who buys gems can be called a gemmer.
Myself, I boughts gems for the 3rd,4th and 5th builders, and recently, to boost barracks ever since they became more affordable. Technically, I could be called a gemmer, but buying those gems and using on my barracks does nothing unless I attack.
There's so much damn bias when it comes to defining a gemmer.
Buying gems to occasionally boost barracks and also getting your 5 builders is what i would call normal because you're still farming the majority of the time,However buy gems to buy ALL or even ALOT of resources is gemming IMO.Thats when it crosses into gemming when you gem troops to insta-finish and buy resources all the time. However that saying,if I was rich like proper rich i would do it.BUT I'm not and i have a healthy respect for what money should be spent on priority wise like bills and stuff:mad:
A gemmer is anyone who used gems to max the majority of their base and or troops. Also uses gems consistently.
I define it as anyone who buys gems beyond builders huts. If you bought say 50$ worth for builders and the occasional boost, i dont think your really a gemmer. I consider a gemmer to be someone who noticeably fills storages and speeds up buildings with gems.
A better analysis would be USD per month. I feel if it averages less than subscriptions to other large games it isn't gemming.
EVERY SINGLE PLAYER IN COC IS A GEMMER....WHO CARES HOW MUCH....ENJOY THE GAME.
YAHOO!!!! Lets make a poll so we can try to judge people and make us feel better!!! ♥♥♥♥♥
The game is designed a based around gems and the system they have created. You cannot make it to champions without gemming its simply impossible to continue winning with cheap troops whilst saving for a 70 million update. You can for a little while but once you reach crystal if u haven't upgraded your troops already, gemming to max is the only choice if you want to continue. Also the pricing system for bags and bundles.
I would respectfully disagree. You just have to be more patient. If you push TH10 and try to farm in Masters, then yes you are correct. However, if you farm in Gold II or Gold I, you can easily max everything out and then push your way into Champions.
Now I do agree with you to try and crack the top 200 because you will likely need to gem your troops in order to get enough wins.
It's quite simple to define a gemmer.
Anyone who has bought more gems than me is a gemmer.
Seriously though, I think most people accept that a gemmer is someone who buys resources and gems buildings finished instantly.
Boosting has become more acceptable now that it is so much cheaper.
Town hall 9 and ten have serious upgrades that are very expensive and not yet leveled so farming in gold would entail dropping trophies and incurring a 50% loot penalty. You cant do it. You have to upgrade Golems...thats impossible to do in gold. Loots not there. Inferno towers , x bows and trophy droppers make it impossible to do without 24/7 boosting and shielding.
I only figure someone is a gemmer when I can see that they are clearly not a farmer. (and with certainty!)
As a an interesting sidenote though, there's a lot of ignorance around profiles and the fact that very active farmers who had made perhaps 1,000,000,000 gold BEFORE the profiles were created were credited with only 100,000,000 gold (the gold grab max) when profiles started.
So some people with seriously good (perhaps not maxed) bases and low-ish gold grab have in fact got there legitimately.
Anyone with a good base and less than 100,000,000 Gold Grab is a gemmer.
I like gemmers, have gemmers in my clan, and completely respect that it's how they choose to play! It's a good thing that gemmers exist!
does $5 count as gemming
generally, $50+ is considered gemming for me. but i dont care whether they game or not since:
1. its not my business
2. they are enjoying the game
3. it doesnt matter whether people gem or not
4. it is their money.
The best way to fix the problem would exclude yong player ( small children) from the game due to them not understanding but ive always thought their should be a kids version with no chat etc. Update the town hall to include a whole economic system. Reuse troops that rare left alive while attacking and losing. Grade the experience ( dps, hp) on what u can afford and allocate. Dumbing the game down with Santa Strikes and a season of gemming tutorials isn't going to fix the problem of upgrading. Upgrading the game will nnot make it a factor. As far as payment goes ...kids is free.....charge adults.
Anyone who buys gems on a regular basis
hmm, I buy 10 a month of gems. I certainitly do not call myself a gemmer! To me a gemmer is someone who drops the big cash. Buying level 10 & 11 walls, and insta gemming troops - repeatedly!
But who cares! For me ten bucks a month is nothing. I spend more then that on soda out of the vending machine! Now I could NOT drop a grand on this game. But lets face it, though I make good money, I am sure a grand is nothing to some people!
I'm a gemmer. I buy a few here and there for boosting.
I don't spend as much as some, but these past few months I've been keeping them on hand.
Anyone who buys gems for anything other than buying builders... this includes buying gems for boosting barracks.
I think $5 is a bit too low for "gemmer"
I buy gems about one time every two months or so to have my barracks boosted.
Does that make me a "gemmer"? (That word really sounds like something bad..)
Anyone who buys gems is a gemmer.
To me these two guys define gemmers. I don't think someone who buys a $20 iTunes card each 2 month is a gemmer (me) haha lol. Found these guys AGES ago and found it amusing...

Yeps. This. To me at least.
Altough someone who consistently boosts/gems troops would also qualify as a gemmer. Basically I'd say a gemmer is someone who buys gems on a regular basis as opposed to someone who buys gems incidentally for a specific purpose.
Doesn't make sense does it?
I put ~€80 in this game. Been playing for 14 months, to some I am a gemmer I suppose.
Why do we need to define gemmers?
Why is it anyone else's business?
For me a gemmer is someone, who has a better base than should for his gold grab. Gemmer gets to higher level, than he has skill to, finds himself unable to keep up, pays more and finally quits.
Anyone, who gems for boosts is not a gemmer for me, since such gem spending still requires the skills and provides full experience from raiding.
Not that I care much for who is a gemmer or who is not. :)
Someone who gems their TownHall to level 10 with only level 3 walls
This is how I define a gemmer: someone who has bought enough gems to max th without knowing anything of the game, and then wuitting because its impossible to play without buying more.
According to these results I'm a Gemmer.
Nice! :D
I don't as there is no need.
